As reported, Bruno Mars danced to the top of the single and album tally on iTunes following his show-stopping performance at the 2016 American Music Awards last night.

It appears the momentum is proving advantageous to sales of the ’24k Magic’ LP.

Because the set is now on-course to best initial projections.

Details below…

After one day on sale, the album was revealed to be eyeing first week US numbers to the tune of 150-160k SPS / 120k in pure sales.

Now, the good folk over at Hits Daily Double have revised their estimate upwards.

Hence, as at writing, Bruno’s lift looks a little like this:

200-210k SPS / 175-185k Pure Sales

The figure may not be enough to snag the #1 spot from Metallica (who are now eyeing 315k SPS), but it will see the 30-year-old best the 192k opening of 2012’s ‘Unorthodox Jukebox.’

What’s more, if indeed the numbers he’s on-track to amass, he’ll earn his best first week sales to date.

Go Mr Mars! More than deserved!

Older fan base. Older fan bases are more likely to buy than stream.

I’ve heard, “24K Magic”, “Versace On The Floor” and, “Chunky”. I like all 3 of the songs. It seems as if Bruno is moving into more of an 80’s/90’s feel with this upcoming album. And, I like everything I’ve heard so far. It’s definitely a different sound from his previous albums. This is music that he said he’s always wanted to do, because this is the type of music he grew up on. I’m feeling it so far. Congrats to you, Bruno!

Idk about you guys I know this is very far off from the genres TGJ supports but I was glad to see Green Day on the AMAs. Was never a big fan but it was just refreshing to see Rock/Punk again with the bands actually looking like rockstars instead of popstars. Reminded me of the 90’s 2004 when white dudes had the spikey hair going on and didn’t want to look or act black.

Anyways, great numbers by Bruno Mars! The album is a great ode to 80’s Hip Hop and R&B.

Greenday was amazing. They said that Bruno may move even more units. His album is very good. Everyone knew that he would sale far more than the numbers that they first predicted. And Metallica is great. Y’all gotta stop with this fan base buys music & this one doesn’t.. Fans of different genres support different kinds of artists.

Man congrats to both Metallica & Bruno they are killing it. They’re probably gonna sell a lot more than some of these teeny bopper artists who have huge fans bases, tons of publicity & promo. Talent is prevailing

    JUST ZADDY THINGS!!!!

  10. Truth November 22, 2016

Buy 2 and 3 copies Dam it if you want a high first week of sales why pissed on how low it is if you are not helping people.

Same case as Gaga´s then. You just cannot kill real talent. They are earning it in their respective eras by showing the real artists they are on stage. Gaga´s case is more noticeable than bruno´s since he was coming froma big era and was ina sweet moment of her career, while Gaga had it all against her. But still, both are prevailing over stupidity.
