Bruno Mars has billed new album ’24k Magic’ as one big party.

Now, after one day at retail, it’s becoming clear just how many have answered his invitation.

The first week predictions for the set are here and await after the jump…

According to Hits Daily Double the set is on-course to open within the top 3 of the Billboard 200 with the following numbers:

150,00-160,000 (Sales Plus Streaming)
110,000 – 120,000 (Pure Sales

The LP, which is preceded by its title track as a lead single, is currently being outpaced by Rock icons Metallica (260k) and Country singer Miranda Lambert (145-155k).

*************

Wow.

This is sure to set tongues a’wagging.

On the one hand, Bruno has never been a sales titan first week. A fact evidenced by the 192k opening of 2012’s ‘Unorthodox Jukebox’ and the 55k premiere for his first LP ‘Doo-Wops & Hooligans’ in 2010. Those releases were steady sellers, with both selling 6 million each worldwide.

The big difference this time is that Mars headed into this era with two Super Bowl Halftime Show‘s under his belt, a number of Grammy wins, and a Diamond certified smash named ‘Uptown Funk.’

All realities that would naturally lead folk to assume he’d sell more out of the gate. Much more.

Of course, there’s still a whole lot of promo to come, including tomorrow night’s AMAs, Carpool Karaoke, and the Victoria’s Secret Show in Paris.

Will they collectively be enough to keep the sales coming heading into the Holiday season?

Stay tuned!

    • LB November 19, 2016

All Rihanna fans talk about are sales so….

      • Natasha3 November 20, 2016

Rihanna’s fans aren’t the only fan base that brags about sells and makes a big deal. You all do, they all do!! Rihanna has been quiet lately…..and yet you still couldn’t focus your attention on anyone else but her! Wow!!!

  2. ty November 19, 2016

lord help us at this point why do artists bother releasing albums smh!!! love bruno so will support him.

    • Tru.dont1234 November 19, 2016

You obviously cannot count sales of 120,000 x $10

This recoups 1.2 million all recording costs & promotional costs recoupped! Bills paid
From second weeks profits start being made Albums make a lot of money hunni & this is just record sales

      In answer to your question

Yes, digital sales have declined drastically in the last several years with 2016 being the worst year to highlight such since 2006. However, he sang lead on one of the biggest hits of all-time, and one of the top three biggest hits of this decade thus far, only last year. Furthermore, he had two superbowl performances between this year and last.

    .

Now that were in the streaming era, ertain acts simply have not adapted to this change yet and it is clearly affecting their overall commercial clout. Whether or not this album will have longevity is a question answered right now.

    I’m shocked! I thought he’d do at least 200k?!

    • Truth November 20, 2016

This is what happens when you don’t release like Taylor Swift & Adele did. When will they learn

  5. truthtea November 19, 2016

Y’all dont forget that Black Friday is next week and sales will go through the roof!

    • Max November 19, 2016

Yip and Xmas sales I mean his last album kept selling over 100K a week after its debut so there’s nothing to stress about here

    • Career Ender November 19, 2016

will Kim Lee Yun’s albums shift on pay pal too?

  6. Max November 19, 2016

Bruno will be fine he has never had huge 200K+ first week sales but has always been consistent he won’t have any trouble going platinum in pure sales

  7. ronnoc November 19, 2016

He needs to start pushing single #2. 24K isn’t the ish like his previous hits were

  8. Casual-T November 19, 2016

I always take fan base median ages into account. Metallica and Miranda Lambert have fan bases which skew older than Bruno Mars’, meaning their fans are more likely to actually buy CDs than streaming. What I’ve heard from this album so far is good and makes me think this album will have legs.

  9. Mark111 November 19, 2016

People are going to hold him to a higher success standard because of Uptown Funk. But like Rihanna, Bruno first week is around this number and go one to out sell the rest by the one year mark. First week is just that, sales of week one. The only thing that will suck is that his rival The Weakend album is coming out next week and will do 400k minimum.

    • Career Ender November 19, 2016

and …….and…….madafaken AND Bruno’s albums emd up selling 2x the amout of a Rihanna album WW
      .
      BYEEE

      • Mark111 November 19, 2016

Lies. Doo woo and Loud came out the same year and season. Loud sold 8M ww and Mars did 6M. Unapologetic and Juke Box came out the same season in 2012, Rih sold 4M ww and Mars did 6M. But here’s the kicker, in between those albums, Rihanna dropped Talk That Talk in 2011 that sold 5M ww. But I know what albums Bruno did outsell with ease, 4 and Beyonce. Now check that.

      • BEY>RIH November 19, 2016

Reciept of Loud selling 8M? Cause last time I checked, it was around 6M. And of course you would bring Bey in the equation like Self-Titled didnt outsell Una despite coming out months later… Neither Bruno or Frih have had an album to outsell DIL or IASF so I advise you to keep that beefsucker SHUT!

      • Mark111 November 19, 2016

Look it up your damn self.

  10. Danny Beys November 19, 2016

Tbh I didn’t know his album came out this week (even tho I’ve been patiently waiting for it) so it could have to do with promotion.

  11. King B November 19, 2016

This is shocking! But he always have longevity though. His first album spend almost 300 Weeks and his second album were not that bad. Both have sold over 2 Million Copies.

  12. Coolness November 19, 2016

Wow, I was shocked when I saw those numbers. I predicated months ago before the 24K Magic single was released that Bruno’s next album will do an upward of 400k in its first week but seeing that her never been a big seller in that particular aspect is reassuring. I think the reason why he has more pressure this time around is because he’s coming off being featured on one of the biggest somgs of all time and has had TWO Super Bowl performances under his belt since his last album. Still, the album is good and I’m happy for his success.

    • Career Ender November 19, 2016

he had one job only –> to release a hood lead single but he was too coked up to do that
      .
He made me mad cos im a stan

  13. iSpeakTruthNoFallacy November 19, 2016

This isn’t a good sign considering how much promo this man has had. Like the kid has a 60 Minutes segment! Rappers like Big Sean who are pushing 180k don’t get that. I respect Bruno as he is no doubt a superstar but this album just isn’t it for me; it’s like he just sang every black genre of music and put it on the album. Also, I believe that the label made him go into this direction after the success of Uptown Funk. They just wanted to replicate it with a lot less success as a result. I wish him the best, but he might need to go the Lady Gaga route and just buy some. Do what you gotta do

    • Career Ender November 19, 2016

come thru basic fallacy, and essays about nothing……. girl bye!

      • iSpeakTruthNoFallacy November 19, 2016

What’s wrong, anything longer than 2 sentences is above your ITT Tech, short bus shawty education?

      • Career Ender November 19, 2016

      • Mark111 November 19, 2016

Not ITT tech! He might have a double major with ITT and Trump University. ?

    • Sam November 19, 2016

I agree, it kinda reminds me of a Lonely Island album

    • JOHNVIDAL November 20, 2016

Girl it is UNBELIEVABLE you say the things you say about any artist like Bruno or Gaga when you stan for RIHANNA!!!!! LMAO Rihanna knows all about tricks, smoke and mirrors, discounts and so on. And more importantly, unlike Bruno or Gaga, she still hasn´t found out what having talent feels like 🙂

  14. Career Ender November 19, 2016

he should have released a good banging lead single
    .
    he will learn his lesson
    .
no one is immune from flopping ; see: Rihanna, Usher, Alicia, Fistopher, Kanye, Trey, August, Britney, Tinashe, 5H, Nick Jonas, Xtina,

      • BEY>RIH November 19, 2016

Lemonade is the most succesful female album of the year.

  15. Honey g November 19, 2016

That’s so low, though his first single is very limp.

  16. Fancy BISH November 19, 2016

    • Career Ender November 19, 2016

      is he managerless?

      • Fancy BISH November 19, 2016

YEP! He manages himself at the moment

  17. S****** Blonde November 19, 2016

I didn’t liked the first single, he’s talented but that song is mediocre, like me there are many people who feel that the song lacks quality, maybe that’s the reason.

    • JOHNVIDAL November 20, 2016

The first single was a disappoinment I agree. I remember I said it from day one (although still expected it to be a #1 song cause of the big era he´s coming from) and remember I asked you what you thought about it and you never said. Glad to finally hear your opinion on that song.

      • S****** Blonde November 20, 2016

Oh I didn’t see that, anyway, he wanted to recreate the success of Uptown Funk IMO, first time he served us mediocrity.

  18. Gee November 19, 2016

My brother let me take a listen to the album today and to be honest this album is average to mediocre at best being as though Bruno is a hot commodity right now you would have expected him to have a bigger opening week hopefully things pick up sales wise in the future.

  19. HailLegendBeysus November 19, 2016

LMAO! Didn’t his label predict sales of 400k??? ??? Oh well, I think he’ll be fine.

  20. Rosie November 19, 2016

I know his first week sales are usually kinda low but not 110K. That’s tragic after two Super Bowls and the biggest hit of the decade.
The fact that this is actually lower than HDD’s prediction from earlier this week ? Those are usually wayyy off too. What a bomb. They’re expecting Abel to do 400K+ SPS. He really did end him.

    • Rima November 19, 2016

Yes he did end Bruno. We actually agree for once.

    • Fancy BISH November 19, 2016

The Weeknd has an amazing manager, making $55 million this past year off a 2 million+ selling album…crazy! Bruno parted ways with Brandon Creed, his longtime manager…he betta THINK this thing through chile lol

    • JOHNVIDAL November 20, 2016

      Rosie
You must live a very sad life if you´re always enjoying music through “who ended who”. Abel didn´t end a damn thing. Bruno is Bruno. If he does less than his previous album then that will be for different reasons, not Abel. With your logic a simple question comes to mind: who ended Lana del Rey then? Cause girl! Lana suffered such a big commercial decline in just two albums time 🙂

Your predictions are always wrong anyway: you said Gaga was finished, that Michael Buble was going to sell more than her first week and following weeks, just didn´t happen. Against all odds she didn´t fail for the type of material and not too big promo she did. You failed. You wasted an entire month (or two) stalking her chart moves (something nobody else does here with the precision you did) and prepared your way to “bury” her. Once again, you just couldn´t. Around the time Superbowl comes you´ll end having a stroke by overworking yourself in the pre-hate-campaign for that event LMAO

      • Rosie November 20, 2016

Girl, WHY are you so obsessed with me? I’m screaming at YOU being the first to bring up Lana when nobody even brought up any female artist in this post except for the usual Bey/Rih mention ?
Get a life and go buy Jopanned because it’s already down to 11K SPS after a month.

  21. Rima November 19, 2016

Watch The Weeknd do 200k plus first week.

    • Fancy BISH November 19, 2016

      #STARBOY #11/25 #BlackFriday

  22. Kyle November 19, 2016

LOL at y’all thinking the Abel ended Bruno
Abel might get a higher debut BUT Bruno will outsell him in the long run BOOKMARK ME!

    • Fancy BISH November 19, 2016

      BOOKMARKED CHILE! lol #STARBOY

    • JOHNVIDAL November 20, 2016

Bruno is a bigger worldwide force than what someone like Abel will ever be. He´s hot right now. But it will quickly pass.

  23. eric November 19, 2016

I don’t think he’s being truthful to himself; it’s like he’s being groomed for something he’s really not. I want to know how much of everything is his own choice.

  24. @ASAPicon November 19, 2016

He’ll be okay, he was entitled to these numbers….. Hopefully he learns from this and improves, And stop recycling the Uptown funk sound as singles.

  25. Music103 November 19, 2016

I expected WAY more. Least around 300K.

  26. Mark111 November 19, 2016

People keep bringing up Superbowl, but that only help you out for that month and that month alone.

    • Meme November 19, 2016

I have to disagree, The super bowl does not only helps out for that month. It exposes the artist to a new level of fans they didn’t have before. I became a bruno hardcore fan AFTER his 1st super bowl half time. I wasn’t into him at all until I totally blew me away by his show. Now I eagerly anticipates his music

    • King B November 19, 2016

*Crying* This is the 10,000th time the Navy contradict themselves? I remember some of you said Self-Titled 618k is due to Superbowl etc. Lemonade is a freaking great era, where the Navy eat their own words, hahahahahah. And yea sure, Loud sold “8 Million”. Y’all should become a comedian.

  27. JOHNVIDAL November 20, 2016

To me, it is VERY VERY surprising that coming from the very sweet spot in his career that he was till now (we´re only discussing commercial success), he´s probably going to sell less than Lady Gaga, who was in the total opposite situation commercialy wise. She changed direction like too much for some people and then you still had the “burnt out” and “hate” situation that keeps coming from her days of monumental Fame (lol). Plus she had no hits.

Bruno has always been a constant seller though, not a big first week force. So we´ll see. Although I don´t know if it´ll work this time because I don´t see him having hits with this type of material. We´ll see. What it is obvious is that his talent prevails.

  28. Truth November 20, 2016

This is what happens when you don’t release like Taylor Swift & Adele did. When will they learn

Also Bruno needs more Faithfully fan as taylor and Adele and Justin Timberlake has.

And try not to release your album as stream people CD’S and Digital M** Yes. Until they get it or come up with faithfully fan base tomorrow’s music will sell lower and lower.
