Justin Timberlake has a new reason to “dance dance dance,” a new year-end report reveals.

The singer’s summer 2016 hit, ‘Can’t Stop the Feeling,’ may have been snubbed for major recognition at the 2017 Grammys, but it appears Timberlake will have the last laugh as the ‘Trolls’ tune has beat out The Chainsmoker‘s ‘Closer,’ Drake‘s ‘One Dance,’ and even Rihanna‘s massive hit ‘Work’ to lay claim to the title of 2016’s best selling single.

Details inside:

Co-written by by Shellback and Max Martin, the feel-good tune – Timberlake’s first Hot 100 #1 in nearly a decade –  is the year’s best seller, according to Forbes magazine.

Forbes:

The song, co-written with Max Martin and Shellback, has sold 2.4 million downloads in 2016, according to Nielsen Music and been streamed nearly 700 million times.

The track, which debuted at  No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in May to become Timberlake’s fifth solo chart topper,  was named the No. 1 adult pop song of the year by Billboard, as well as landed in the year-end Top 10 for Hot 100 songs and pop songs and Top 5 for radio songs.

The news follows a report from TIME magazine where the song was branded “the worst song of 2016.”

…and Beyonce. Let’s not forget Beyonce. All Night is flopping just like the rest of the singles from Flint Michigan Tap Water Kool-Aid Lemonade.

    • Metzo December 15, 2016

The reason why they didnt even bother mentioning Beyonce is because it’s no secret that she’s not a strong single seller. Now if it was album…

      • ?Yellow Diamonds? December 15, 2016

@metzo that’s an excuse hun. This site loves Beyoncé and refuses to post a fail from the B@&$h. PLain and simple.

    • TrellBeyLike December 15, 2016

All those flop singles but yet she still topped rihanna on billboards 2016 year end chart…lmaooo imagine having a hit single and still losing to your bosses wife.

    • Quiet December 15, 2016

You ran up in this post to shout Beyoncé’s name. Bey on the brain.

    • Jasmine December 15, 2016

Why bring Beyonce’s name in this? Let JT and Rihanna have some shine too. I think Beyonce had the highest grossing tour and Drake the highest selling album. If JT and Rihanna had one of the highest selling singles then great. Do Beyonce haters really expect Beyonce to be number 1 at everything?

    • Kris December 16, 2016

@Centurion You’re such a troll. Let’s break down the numbers… singles sell for $1.29. The high grossing single this year only sold 2.4 million = $3,000,000 Lemonade sold approximately 1.6 million copies in the US only at $17.99 = $28,000,000. So again, who’s winning in this race?

  5. Mark111 December 15, 2016

This song was a big hit, but it seem like no one cared at the same time. The film didn’t do so well either.

  6. HailLegendBeysus December 15, 2016

Lmao once again Beyonce is brought up by the pathetic Salvation Army. Like damn get off her clít! It’s her fault Metallica is less than 400k from outselling your fav. It’s not her fault JB blocked Frihanna from an AOTY nominations. Its not he fault she snatched accolades from your fav left and right all year long. Not her fault she has the best selling Female tour and Album this year. Get over it! Rihorse is a flop that needed Bey’s leftovers (Samsung).

    • B_Roni December 15, 2016

your saying that as if justin Bieber and Metallica aren’t huge artist . Metallica has sold more albums than bey and rih as solo artist. You are quick to label someone a flop. In my pen ion Rih and bey BOTH had an amazing year and I personally think it’s Rihanna’s best album. Neither artist is flopping, neither is going anywhere any time soon.

    • Datredd23 December 15, 2016

You know Rih is far from a flop what are you exactly doing hun? This was Rihs best year of her career she received many great high year end places and had a MASSIVELY successful year stop hating

      • IStan4Rihanna. (Caribbean Queen). December 15, 2016

Why are you even bothering to respond to “it”? We all know how HUMONGOUS Rihanna’s year was. What is truly interesting is the fact that overall album sales are being brought into the conversation when, as reality shows, an album that was released in 2015 still managed to outsell every 2016-based release. As the year-end charts show, we know what artist truly “owned” 2016. ?

        .

Anyway, “Love On the Brain” is now in the top 20 of 6 radio formats and has just entered the top 15 on overall radio. This song is shaping up to be one of her biggest hits – all it needs is to survive the current christmas freeze on radio and a video in order for it to truly explode. ?

  7. Datredd23 December 15, 2016

Rihanna is now just the 6th act in history to have 40 top 20 hits and only behind Madonna among females wow legend at only 28!

  8. IStan4Rihanna. December 15, 2016

    Congratulations.

    .

“WORK” is the best-selling female lead single of 2016 with “4M+” pure sales units sold WW with “7.5M+” streaming equivalents. Sia’s “Cheap Thrills” is a second with “7.4M+” streaming equivalents sold and it just (may) surpass “WORK” by years-end.

    .

    ???????

  9. Mel December 15, 2016

  15. Kiii December 16, 2016

  16. Mariah Carey December 16, 2016

  17. DanYiel Iman December 16, 2016

Sadly him being Caucasian is what sells his music, usually isn’t about his sound ?…People of color, take longer to get received as talented by followers of them…

  18. Caribbean native December 16, 2016

Slay rih! Ur the only one i care about

  19. JOHNVIDAL December 16, 2016

See? I don´t care about that song, but if it was clearly the best selling song of the year then it should have topped Billboard charts for more than one week. Instead of that, Drake and others stayed weeks and weeks thanks to streaming. It´s so unfair. A joke. Same thing happened with Beyonce being clearly among the 3 top sellers of the year (more or less) while her album didn´t spend that much time at #1 because of the streams other albums got. Both Billboars charts are now a joke and don´t represent the real success, the one coming from people who actually spend their money in the music they like.
