The congenial Katy Perry has stepped out to support the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement before the unveiling of her politically-aware new album.

Details below…

Black Lives Matter is a unique contribution that goes beyond extrajudicial killings of Black people by police and vigilantes. It goes beyond the narrow nationalism that can be prevalent within some Black communities, which merely call on Black people to love Black, live Black and buy Black, keeping straight cis Black men in the front of the movement while our sisters, queer and trans and disabled folk take up roles in the background or not at all. Black Lives Matter affirms the lives of Black queer and trans folks, disabled folks, Black-undocumented folks, folks with records, women and all Black lives along the gender spectrum. It centers those that have been marginalized within Black liberation movements. It is a tactic to (re)build the Black liberation movement.

After finding that her values mirrored that of the movement’s, the ‘One of the Boys’ hit maker took to social media to reveal that she stands with it and will use her voice to elevate its causes.

Earlier this year, the star, who is a fan of the author Toni Morrison, revealed that her next album would be inspired by the 2016 Presidential Election in which Hillary Clinton (the candidate she supported) was beaten by the divisive Donald J. Trump.

Back to work because: ALL OF THE ABOVE ?✌?️????

Cute!! Her republican fans will hate her for this..LMAO

    • Wakeup December 24, 2016

Not really. Smart republicans understand this is a very profitable way to make money. Lots of smart people are making money from it with albums, poetry, etc. all while most blacks just march…..for free. Let’s educate ourselves. The only thing she’s endorsing is her next album.

I hate comments like yours. People said the same thing about formation (Beyoncé is just using it for press). Regardless of the reasons, when a big celebrity endorses something like BLM, it’s still a big deal! I respect Katy for this She’s bringing awareness to the situation!

Then you are the epitome of the word “tool,” and in the meantime I’ve got some magic beans that I’d like to sell you for really cheap. Meh. There’s a difference between awareness and exploitation. But some of you lemmings are so emotionally needy, and desperate for validation, that you’ll easily conflate (and confuse) the two. Does it make you feel special to know that Katy Perry is “for” you? Please.

Too often white artists shy away from supporting black causes when they benefit from cannibilozing and redistributing a watered down versions of music pioneered by black people. Needless to say, I’m beyond here for this.

    • BubblePopElectric December 24, 2016

      ***cannibilizing

  3. Lessa December 24, 2016

    I think that’s great!! I’m with her.??

  4. December 24, 2016

    i respect this.

  5. Shakira Stan December 24, 2016

I hate it when this over previladged white butches act like they know what black lives is all about.
What does this big breasted thot know about the sufferings of black men… Needless to say she will flop like her saggy boobs

    • Ughhhh December 24, 2016

You’re stupid. If you would educate yourself like Katy Perry is clearly doing, you would understand that she is not trying to speak for black people but clearly be an ally. If she wasn’t supporting Black Lives you would have a problem with that too. Stop being part of the problem.

      • Shakira Stan December 24, 2016

Tell that to your w**** of a mother

      • Black Knight Fool December 24, 2016

She’s pretty much throwing black men under the bus who were actually the primary victims. RIP blackfamily.

  6. Kwinzy December 24, 2016

Not gonna front I got mad skeptical at first especially the “woke asf” part but as I read on she appears genuine. I appreciate Katy using her platform to spread the word. Still ain’t checking for her music tho…

  7. The Wig Snatcher December 24, 2016

    Hmmmm…

  8. Sasha December 24, 2016

Hmm. It’ll be interesting to see if her actions match up with those words. As Jessie Williams said, our culture and movements isn’t like a costume you put on and take off when convenient. I hope she’s sincere.

White people are waking up because they know their next in line. But this is how change works, it take a few years before the world wakes up. Now we as Blacks need to make sure that WE benefit from this, because with the civil rights era, a lot of other POC benefited from it than we did if you look into it.

  10. EnRanc December 24, 2016

This is tacky. She’s looking for publicity.

  11. josh December 24, 2016

Glad to see you updated the post 😛 xoxo
And super glad to see Katy supporting this incredibly important movement. x

  12. Black Knight Fool December 24, 2016

I guess feminism didn’t waste any time throwing black men under the bus once they exploited their victimhood to ge it started. I guess that’s the nail in the coffin for the black family. RIP. Happy queering.
