In an age in which male artists swim in very shallow creative waters, Chance the Rapper is a breath of fresh air.

How the good people of ‘Saturday Night Live rewarded him for this? By inviting him to perform on their platform to support his album ‘Coloring Book’.

Watch him in action below….

‘Book’ peaked at #8 on the Billboard 200 and scored a 90/100 score on Metacritic.

On how the project was inspired by his faith?

I never really set out to make anything that could pretend to be new gospel or pretend to be the gospel. It’s just music from me as a Christian man because I think before I was making music as a Christian child. And in both cases I have imperfections, but there was a declaration that can be made through going all the stuff I’ve been through the last few years.

Want more from his time on the show?

Hilarious.

I said the same thing about the backup singers on Twitter. They absolutely gave me life especially the woman. When she was singing those guitar riffs at the end of Same Drugs I had chills. She’s truly a gifted vocalist. And I love Chance. He’s super cute and just seems so genuine.
