Mariah Carey Hits The Studio With DJ Khaled & Travi$ Scott

Published: Tuesday 17th Jan 2017 by Sam

Diva Mariah Carey is dusting the dirt of her New Year’s Eve disaster off her shoulder by returning to the studio.

It’s nearing three years since the singer released a body of work, and it appears that may all be changing soon.

Head below for details….

Snapchat king DJ Khaled took to the platform today to share a shot of himself in the studio with Mimi and rapper Travi$ Scott:

Could Khaled have the magic “key” to unlock Mariah’s next commercial emancipation? Time will tell.

That said, while we readily welcome “new” material from Carey in whichever manner it may manifest, we’re hoping she doesn’t over indulge in the Hip-Hop pairings.

Sure she’s a pioneer of the modern singer+ rapper, but it’s not been working for her of late (see: ‘Triumphant’).

Team up’s such as her duet with Miguel on ‘Beautiful’ arguably serve as a better roadmap of where she could (and perhaps should) be driving her sound towards at this stage of her career. A sentiment Carey’s Billboard trajectory supports (‘Beautiful,’ with its #15 peak, is her biggest hit almost a decade).

Just saying.

I’m nervous that we might get another “Thirsty” or “Triumphant.” Cmon Legendriah!

    • Gabe January 17, 2017

FADED was an incredible radio friendly song laced with hip hop tones

      • maurice January 17, 2017

i listen to faded at least 3 times a day.

        FA-EH-DED-AHH-WAY-AYY
        lov that song. lol

  2. Cough Cough January 17, 2017

Please no. We just want REAL music from you Mariah. Work with some saaaaaangers who will enhance you musically, not some rappers who don’t know dirt about vocals- it’s so tired. I’d love to see Mariah collab in a duet or write with the following(to name a very select few): Tank, Tyrese, Brandy, Janelle Monae, jimmy Jam and terry lewis(again), Tamar Braxton, TC, Toni Braxton, babyface, Chaka khan…. you know.. vocalists. Hip hop Mariah, for me, is played. It’s cute for a song or two but can we get some authentic, real r&b… a whole album of it. Not this rap crap- it’s tired. It really is

    • mikey January 17, 2017

Its funny – her last album was top to bottom R&B with like one or two hip hop collaborations.

Ya’ll slept on it and now are asking for the same thing she gave you!

      I can’t with you people!

      • Cough Cough January 17, 2017

Don’t talk to me like “y’all this y’all that” because you have know idea what I slept on. Her last album was good, I have it but there was filler and the singles that were being pushed (you’re mine and thirsty) were underwhelming. I don’t classify it as top to bottom r&b at all. There was hip hop, trap, house, adult contemp and gospel throughout the whole album dear.

    • THE REAL January 17, 2017

Cough, I actually love that idea of Mariah collaborating w/ other R&B/pop singers, both old and new for a duets themed album. She could use it to create a different narrative for the next album and reach different generations at the same time.

    • Erik January 17, 2017

A Mariah/Toni duet would be a HUGE deal.

  3. mikey January 17, 2017

This for Khaled’s new album not hers!

For experienced bloggers you would hope you guys would do your research before trying so hard to be shady when it comes to everyone other than Beyonce.

    • The Wig Snatcher January 17, 2017

      Reeeeeeeeeeeeeead bîtch, reeeeeeeeead!

Watch Sam delete our comments. I will screen shot just in case. KII

    • whut January 17, 2017

Well thank God for that, because her whole rap/hip hop schtick is tired and old. It’s time for her music & sound to mature.

  4. Gee January 17, 2017

Thank you Miley for putting Sam and company on as usual they’re jumping to conclusions instead of doing any research this is for Khaled’s new album not MC’s.

    • Max January 17, 2017

Whatchu expect He’s a blogger not a journalist??

      • mikey January 17, 2017

        I guess *shrug*

    • The Wig Snatcher January 17, 2017

Sam tried too hard to shade Mariah, aimed and missed bigly. Kii

      • SMH January 17, 2017

Um, bigly is not a word. Talk about failed shade lmao…

  5. Weezy Tha Goat/Zayn is ? January 17, 2017

She’s coming. You haters can exit stage left.

    • The Wig Snatcher January 17, 2017

      Especially Sam

  6. The Wig Snatcher January 17, 2017

Mariah has become the new Rihanna of That Prune Juice, the pop diva that Sam can’t resist to shade.

  7. 2shady4u January 17, 2017

    Fück Sams hatin @$$

  8. Kim.Kesha&Pam January 17, 2017

I’ll pass. I want Christina’s album. Unlinked Mariah, Xtina can still hold s note live!

    • Cough Cough January 17, 2017

Lol christina is garbage live. Same Run after run after run, oversang flat notes, screaming and struggle throughout the whole performance. Awful. Mariah sounds bad too but don’t act like Screamtina is doing anything other than pretending she’s still a soprano in 2002. Nobody is checking for her

      • SMH January 17, 2017

You all can sit. XTina’s vocals are still on point and sh*ts on Mariah’s (lack of), who’s failed vocals have been a recurring joke for the past decade. Don’t be mad at XTina; it’s not her fault she still takes care of her voice. Blame Mariah for her sh*tty no longer existent voice.

      • Cough Cough January 17, 2017

Christina didn’t slay anything accept a pack of throat Lozanges before that struggle of a performance. Nobody is checking for xtina, she peaked early (2002)and has been pretending to be a soprano ever since and for the record Mariah is much more respected as a singer, song writer and legendary vocalist than xtina will ever be which is why mariahs comparisons/arch nemesis were Whitney & Celine’s whilst Xtina’s was Britney Spears and we all see who slayed who outta that generation. Bye girl, and take you flat, sharp, scratchy, warbling repetitious vocals with you. if you want to see a real slay the other night check out a real vocalist, fantasia. Not yellTina.

    • JOHNVIDAL January 17, 2017

Most of Mariah´s live intros for Emotions throughout 2016 are better sung than anything xtina can sing these days despite being 10 years younger.

      • SMH January 17, 2017

Unfortunately, she can’t sing them live anymore, unlike XTina who just slayed an R&B classic LIVE on TV last week.

      • JOHNVIDAL January 18, 2017

She has sung them live again and again throughout 2016. What are you talking about?

  9. PeaceMaker January 17, 2017

I hate to say this, but xtina’s voice is also barely holding on, her vocals are literally tired now.

  10. Seth January 17, 2017

She needs to keep the retro soul Miguel vibe or go 90s house like Disclosire or Ariana’s “Be Alright”. Nobody wants another rap cameo or the same old Jermanine Dupri sound she’s been pushing since 2003. It was cute for Emancipation but time for a new sound

  11. gurlbye January 17, 2017

This is for Khaled’s album not hers…

  12. Steven January 17, 2017

I hate you Sam …shady for no damn reason

  13. Stephy January 17, 2017

No. I’ll stick to Old School MC. Ion even like today’s music tbh…

    • S****** Blonde January 17, 2017

Lol, I hate 90% of today’s music, it’s so forgettable and uninspired.

  14. Jamie January 17, 2017

They’re looking like really byitch…..wtf did we get ourselves into?

  15. Beyoncé Jackson January 17, 2017

Damn she looks 70 years old in the face.

    • Meiz January 17, 2017

But still looks way younger than auntyonce

  16. Jason January 17, 2017

She just stays on some BS these days! I’m over it! Will you just f****** sing a song, already! Features don’t fix vocals! She’s losing me more and more!

  17. Beyonnaise January 17, 2017

Just retire already mother moo. No one cares about new music for you to lipsync to

  18. MUSICHEAD January 17, 2017

Mariah has always remained current by working with the hottest producers and sometimes rappers of the moment. I support her continuing to do so as long as the music is hot and balanced with signature Mariah mid-tempos and ballads.

  19. JOHNVIDAL January 17, 2017

To be hnoest i liked Triumphant a lot. I know it was not what teh charts wanted and there were too many rappers. Worldwide audiences don´t want that from her. But i enjoyed that songa lot during that summer. Very uplifting and vivid.

    • JOHNVIDAL January 17, 2017

      To be honest 🙂

    • MUSICHEAD January 17, 2017

Really? I love Mariah but I HATED Triumphant. The arrangement was terrible and the hook was weak.

  20. mr.m January 17, 2017

Triumphant just certificated wood for selling 10 copies!
    woooooooow!!! congrats fart-riah.

    • JOHNVIDAL January 17, 2017

And? LOL So your faves have never had a single flopping on the charts, right? 🙂 🙂 🙂

  21. Theman January 17, 2017

But this may not even be for her project. You trip off of everything that she does. Stfu up Sam. You are a nuisance. She’s allowed to work with other artists..

  22. Theman January 17, 2017

Furthermore, Mariah has sounded quite good recently, minus a few mishaps. So do not bring Christina into anything..

  23. LC January 17, 2017

I don’t mind rappers but I wish she would collab with rappers that are more worthy of being on a song with her. I like Travis Scott and all but I feel like she should be working with people who have paid their dues and are on her level. Either way, I’ll be listening.

  24. Mark111 January 17, 2017

Still clinging to the youth and the current trend I see.

  25. Aaron January 17, 2017

lol beautiful was Miguel’s highest charting song on bb hot 100. Just saying

  26. Mariah Carey January 17, 2017

Samantha dahhling! I know a surgeon who can help you with that unsightly thing on your face… I’m talking about your nose dahhling!

  27. @ASAPicon January 17, 2017

Hmmmm. I like what Kahled brings out of artists, so we shall see

  28. Justafan January 17, 2017

    Please hire better writers!!!

  29. eric January 17, 2017

DJ Khalid is a NO!! I guess the good side is I know not to get my hopes up.

  30. Jan January 18, 2017

This means another ‘hip-hop’ track from mariah 🙂 which means Another flop !!

  31. Human Cyborg January 18, 2017

But wait can she still sing? I think Mariah can’t hit any note perfectly.

  32. Jimmy January 18, 2017

Why does she keep embarrassing herself with one flop new song after another. Guess what folks? Any new Mariah song will flop hard. Nobody can stand her anymore!
