Published: Tuesday 31st Jan 2017 by Sam

‘Beauty and the Beast’ is the latest Disney blockbuster set for a big-screen reboot.

Due in theaters on March 17th, the flick has been reimagined as a live action adventure – led by Emma Watson.

Musically, its soundtrack aims to please and do justice to the familiar tunes millennials will know and love from the 1991 original.

The movie’s title track is one of said songs getting a 2017 redressing – courtesy of Ariana Grande and John Legend.

Together the pair attempt to capture the magic so effortlessly evoked by Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson on the first issue of the song.

  4. truthteller January 31, 2017

John sounds good but Ariana really pales in comparison to Celine.

    • Mark111 January 31, 2017

      Who’s comparing tho?

  5. Mariah Carey January 31, 2017

ok. Sounds like this Girl is now COPYING Celine, or trying to. First her people have her Mariah her, now she Trying to be Celine. Boring.

    • Meme January 31, 2017

How is she trying to be Celine? The girl is remade a song that Celine sung originally. Why are people so negative

      • LmfaoHoe January 31, 2017

Because Ariana has impersonated Celine. However she fails in comparison to Whitney with that soulless attempt at IWALY and she has said she lost her voice or strain it trying to sing Emotions by Mariah live.

    Bye bish
u ain’t no Celine h**. no power. no soul. no emotion.
These singers nowadays are just clowns.
Xtina n beyonce are the last great inspiring vocalists.

    • JOHNVIDAL January 31, 2017

The last true huge ones were Mariah and Celine. But I agree Xtina and Beyonce (Gaga and above all Adele given her success I suppose) would be the nearest thing to that level since then. Lately, there just haven´t been vocalists with mainstream success. Just no (I´m not counting the countless imitators or singers with zero artistry).

They both sound amazing! Where were the haters who was dragging Ari?

  9. Meteorite January 31, 2017

I’ll never understand why some Stans lie to themselves…just because you’re fan of someone doesn’t mean you have to be biased and like everything your artist does.

I don’t like Ariana and John together for this song, they don’t blend. John’s voice isn’t smooth and forceful like Peabo or Luther. Nor is Ariana like Celine or Mariah. Yes the two of them can sing however just because you both can sing doesn’t mean you’ll blend well.
The song is a *No* for me

    • Cough Cough January 31, 2017

You’re just being a christina/Mariah Stan hater. They sound great together.

      • Meteorite January 31, 2017

How does me not liking a song make me a hater? It’s a personal opinion, which I’m entitled to. The world does revolve around your ideology.
*middle fingers up* boy bye ?

  10. Mark111 January 31, 2017

Sounds great, the girl can sing. What the stans of the old and played out comes in hating. If your old ass fave still had a voice, maybe they would have been invited to sing instead.

  11. IG: @mixedboy January 31, 2017

Doesn’t sound bad but when greatness was the original, of course people will compare. That being said I prefer the Celine’s. This sounds forced.

  12. Stevone l Jackson January 31, 2017

Wack they ducked up the song

  13. JOHNVIDAL January 31, 2017

That Ariana is no Celine Dion we all know it. She lacks all types of personality and soul in that voice of hers. However, she still sounds good here.
The true news is that Celine Dion has actually recorded a NEW song for this new live action version. I´m not expecting anything stellar. But hey, something from a true great at their 50s is better than something from a never was? in their 20s.

People need to get out their feelin’s and realize that not everyone is going to like this song! It’s not an insult to Grande or Legend, they can sing, yes, but it’s not everyone’s cup of tea!
People need to understand what harmony and melodies mean and what it means to blend. Example: Usher and Beyoncé; the song “My Boo” was originally supposed to feature Bey but he swapped her for Alicia because Bey and Usher lacked vocal chemistry. Another example would be “Titanium” by David Guetta and Sia, Mary J Blige was originally pinned to do the song but David didn’t like the final product so he asked Sia.
Some people have gotten so tone deaf they have fogetten what harmonies and melodies are supposed to sound like.

    • Mark111 January 31, 2017

The voices on the original never blended. The song suppose to have two very different tones. I never heard of Beyonce being up for my boo, it doesn’t even make sense because Usher and Keys were on the same label. These stans already made their minds up that they didn’t like it before then even heard it. It’s hating.

  15. Mr.West January 31, 2017

Can everybody just wait to hear the final product before giving their “constitutional” opinions??? Of course the original was great, but can we give new girl and John a fair chance. #thatsall
