Readers of That Grape Juice know what avid music lovers we are – especially of hits past.

So, as our retrospective features ‘From the Vault’ and ‘TGJ Replay’  allow us the chance to re-spin the gems and jams of yesterday of one artist, our newest feature Chart Rewind – a variation of our current Retro Rewind assay – accedes salutes to an entire era of music history.

Next up? We’ll rewind to 1992 to revisit one of King of Pop Michael Jackson‘s biggest hits:  ‘Black or White.’  Released in November 1991 as the lead single from Jackson’s 8th album, ‘Dangerous,’ the tune was only on radio 3 weeks before it ascended to #1.  A cause only assisted by its controversial music video, which to date is considered one of the most controversial of all time, the song went on to platinum status and have a 7 week reign at the top of the Hot 100 into 1992 (where it’s seen this week).  The run also made MJ the first artist to have a #1 hit in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s.

Tuck in below to relive ‘Black or White’ and see who else among your faves joined the King of Pop in the top 25 this week 26 years ago:

  10. Stephy January 12, 2017

Michael Jackson looked gorgeous when he first turned white.
Dangerous era was the last time Jackson was great. HIStory & Invincible produced some great tunes tho.

I’m ready for another Beyonka era tbh… She and Rihanna are the only pop stars I’m interested in these days tbh…

I completely agree about Dangerous, it happens to be my favorite album from him.

  11. SMH January 12, 2017

Comparing these charts shows just how awful music is nowadays.

  12. MUSICHEAD January 12, 2017

The King of Pop was still reigning! Can’t Let Go is still one of my favorite Mariah songs. Too bad it wasn’t a #1.

  13. Shakira stan January 12, 2017

I cringe anytime the hives compare Beyonce to Micheal…. Like how dare you?
How can you compare a champagne with a local back yard made gin?

  14. S****** Blonde January 12, 2017

MJ, George Michael, Elton John, Prince, Mariah, U2, Genesis, Gloria Estefan, Nirvana, Guns N’ ?…..All in the same chart, those were the 90’s folks.

  15. Stanning Is Messy January 12, 2017

    I can’t listen to MJ when I’m drunk. I always cry 🙁 <3
