As captivating performers go, few can rival the the fire Fantasia ignites when she takes to the stage. And even when she doesn’t.

See, the American Idol graduate was tapped to perform at ‘Taking The Stage: African American Music And Stories That Changed America’ – yet ironically gave her entire performance in the audience.

Watched on by the likes of Will Smith, Jada Pinkett, and Octavia Spencer, Ms. Barrino shut down the Kennedy Center event with a rousing rendition of Aretha Franklin‘s ‘Dr. Feel Good.’

See Fantasia set it all the way off, like only she can, after the jump…

Yes, yes, and YES!

All I got to say is FANTASIA IS EVERYTHING! Can’t wait for the “When I Met You” video to premiere. Love that song!

She always slays. Anointed gospel vocalist. A testimony not a performance.

    • Josh January 17, 2017

Fantasia is NOT a gospel singer nor Dr. Feel Good is NOT a gospel song. She is anointed and will always have a church tinged in her voice.

I just love her live performances. She’s like a baby Patti. Wooo my wigssssssssss

Man, she didn’t even get on the stage and yet she still set the stage on fire. Did y’all see will, Jada, Octavia and Mary Mary going off.. even Beyoncés little protégés was living…. ?☺️

One of the most underrated artist ever!

  7. Coolness January 13, 2017

I was LIVING last night when she came on! I know when people cite the best performers of her generation, the likes of Beyoncé, P!nk and Gaga often come up. However, despite Fanny never really crossing over the way the aforementioned did, she’s right up there with them as far as performance ability is concerned. It’s the fire in her voice and the way she commands an audience with every note.

Fantasia is a binaries goer. You or her on stage and vocally she just goes and goes and goes and goooooes! Yes honey!!!!! She outsings everyone on the billboard charts, even on her hoarse days!

  10. Coolness January 13, 2017

Btw, Sam, why not do a post about all the other performers from last night’s show? Usher, Ne-Yo, Chloe and Halle, Mary, Mary and many others deserve a post.

  11. Dreazy Baby January 13, 2017

Can you all pst usher’s James Brown tribute?

  12. oopsUPsideDaHead January 13, 2017

no please don’t post that terrible Ne-Yo performance

He was dressed for Billie Jean, but did some lame version of “The Earth Song”

glad the hat stayed on tho.

Now wait a dam minute when did fantasia start looking this dam good and now she js slaying my life. I feel bad for sleeping on the girl, but why the Grammy’s don’t get more Rb acts like her to perform their own music, she slayed on youtube with this “sleeping with the one I love performance, the Grammy’s look over real and raw talent like fantasia and always say artist like her are never invited to perform their material, because that’s not the direction of how they want the actual live telecast performancea to go, but how much yall bet Beyonce will bring out solange, and the Grammy’s will think that’s bringing urban acts to perform … We need a variety of urban acts performing, I’m sure we always are not in a Beyonce and rihanna mood or style of music, yes they are great artist, but why is their a lack of soul Rb females that are granted an opportunity and a platform to showcase their artistry besides the great Mary j blige.

Why do little comments for a true stage slayer? If this were a Bey or Rih post…. I’m sleep though.

  15. stan January 13, 2017

she should be playing aretha in the biopic instead of j-hud. just saying.

    • MUSICHEAD January 13, 2017

Nah. Fantasia does not have the confidence or persona to pull off Aretha Franklin. Aretha was a sexual, feisty b**** on wheels back in the day. Jhud has the acting chops for that.

      • Truth(yaaasss honey) January 13, 2017

Bitvh u stupid as puppy sog sh!t! Wtf u mean she dont have the confidence or chops?? U can tell u need a man!!! #ByeHoe

      • Josh January 17, 2017

Nah I wanna see Fantasia play either Dinah Washington or Patti LaBelle in a biopic.

  16. MUSICHEAD January 13, 2017

This song is more in Jennifer Hudson’s wheelhouse but I’ll take it. Fannie Mae always does a good job.

  17. Truth(yaaasss honey) January 13, 2017

Fanny and JHud are the vocal TRUTHS of this age honey

  18. afdfd January 13, 2017
