Tamar Braxton Slammed For Defending Kim Burrell

Tamar Braxton is among many Urban stars who have long made their adoration of gospel singer Kim Burrell no secret.  Yet, despite the embattled holy hitmaker seeing her name run atop headlines for a fiery anti-LGBTQ sermon preached last week (a feat that led to her being booted from a scheduled appearance on the ‘Ellen’ show), Braxton maintains her loyalty to the revered songstress.

Amidst a slew of her own negative headlines that suggest she and former ‘The Real’ co-star, Adrienne Bailon, are at war, the ‘Love & War’ wailer took to Instagram to encourage followers to show sympathy to Burrell.  The request landed Braxton in a hot seat herself:

Braxton responded to this morning’s announcement Burrell’s appearance on ‘Ellen’ had been cancelled:

When our buddies at TSR got wind of the story, Braxton went from defending Burrell to defending herself:

Gurl, bye! Prayer doesn’t always work – some people just need to have they a$$ whupped!

    • LISA LEVINE January 3, 2017

Tamar speaks the truth. Churchs always preaching about homosexuality, but hide the fact that there children gay or the choir members gay or they gay themself. Kim needs to have several SEATS AND unglue her mouth from food.

      • Jay January 4, 2017

The sad part about it is that homosexuality was never mentioned in the original transcriptions of the bible. However, due to these modified versions, they decided to add it in, smh.

    • God Children January 4, 2017

You are a Liar Satan!!! Prayer those work! If you’re walking in the dark, like you are, of course your prayers won’t be heard.

      • God Children January 4, 2017

        does work

  2. Pat January 3, 2017

Girl. Just go b quiet til braxtons family promo time.

  3. truthtea January 3, 2017

And since we’re on the topic of prayer, I’ll be sure to say one for your next flop album!

  4. Danny Bey January 3, 2017

I’m with Tamar. You can’t fight judgment with judgment. While what Kim said has caused quite the stir, you can’t battle the war at hand using the same logic of hate and negativity. That’s why this cycle of hate and intolerance never ends. Because we’re too consumed with fighting hate with hate instead of fighting it with love.

    • pon_De January 3, 2017

Or sometimes you fight it by paying it dust. Not every backwards persons deserves the patience and grace of others to have their eyes opened. People don’t have the right to be taught. They have the right to learn and seek knowledge but they cannot demand that people take energy from their lives to “show them a better way”. There is absolutely nothing wrong with choosing to shun the willfully ignorant and hateful. Life is too short.

      • Danny Bey January 3, 2017

While true to a very far extent, if everyone took on that logic, we’d have a lot more hate in this world than we already do. Idk, maybe it’s just how I was raised and what i’ve experienced that I know what to do and not to do, but in the recent months/years of all the b******* thats been happening in the world, I’m much more prone to show positivity and love regardless. We weren’t put on this earth to mind our own business and figure it all out on our own, We were all put here to help one another. Whether you’re religious or not, if Jesus had that same mentality of “not everyone deserves to be shown mercy or help,” we’d be in a lot more a s*** hole than we are now, I can tell you that.

      • pon_De January 3, 2017

This has nothing to do with mercy. Kim Burrell is NOT being persecuted. Her believes are being rejected. That is not the same thing. As I said on another blog, she has wrapped herself up in self righteousness to the degree that she actually thought in 2017 she could speak death upon gay people and then turn around and go make a coin off a gay woman’s show. She’s got a big pair of ___ to try something like that, thinking it was going to fly. Now when the day comes when she says that she is going to engage in prayer and self reflection and try to actually live by Christ’s instructions to be meek, pure of heart, merciful, etc. then I can agree with helping showing her more patience. But, until she takes a first step to admit her hateful predisposition….BYE

    • FAF January 3, 2017

It’s not judgment why would a lesbian lend her show to an opposer of her lifestyle ?

    • TRUTH SERUM January 3, 2017

Calling someone out on hate is not fighting hate with hate . It’s called holding people accountable for their actions. Under NO circumstances should Ellen have her on her show!! She’s profiting from a lifestyle she apparently despises. I wish I could exercise free speech at my job and cuss some of my co-workers out. But like every other adult that understands actions and consequences I comply. Stop ✋ confusing accountability with hate !!!

      • Danny Bey January 3, 2017

I never said it was. But by the comments on this site and all over social media, there’s plenty of hate going around, calling her all kinds of names, condemning her for condemning gays, etc.

      • love jones January 22, 2017

I understand then what do you call it when a Christian Bakery refuses to make a cake for a gay couple wedding and get sued isn’t that the Christian Bakers right to choose who they want to make a cake for. it seems that gay people feel that they’re the only ones that have the right to attack and to sue people if you don’t agree with their lifestyle that’s wrong and hypocritical

    • Lana Del Fan January 3, 2017

Save me that “Koom-bayah” crap. A 40 or 50 something year old isn’t going to change their opinion on things they were raised with. No matter how much you try to explain to Kim, she’ll never truly change her opinion. Btw, most of us don’t hate her, we just don’t want her on Ellen or using gay people in ANY way! She dug her own grave.

  5. mr.m January 3, 2017

    well, she’s right!!

  6. B_Roni January 3, 2017

I agree with Tamar. Most of the people parents and love ones feel the same way Kim feels. It’s not right but growing up in a black church and hearing people say gays with burn in hell is disturbing but it is taught even today. However almost every major black pastor has said what she said. They’ve just said it passively and she was direct. Like she said, she never won a Grammy and she is not pressed. So move on. Smh. She was wrong for it but that’s life and I doubt she will change her mind. Especially if she is a black Christian.

  7. truthtea January 3, 2017

No no no! That’s the problem these days! You can’t just pop off and expect for people to stay quiet. Especially when it comes to these alt-right bible thumping “Christians” who only concern themselves with scripture that doesn’t apply to them.

    • Danny Bey January 3, 2017

That’s a very true point I never thought of. While I grew up in the church and possess the Christian faith, I do notice that most of these ‘preachers’ and self-righteous Christians only boast and preach against ‘sins’ that they feel dont apply to them, therefore it’s easy to attack and single out others. It’s quite sad and very manipulative.

    • Angela Wesley January 3, 2017

Truthtea. The Bible scriptures apply to everyone. people
are dragging Kim Burrell for speaking the truth. she may
not have delivered the message appropriately, but I have
heard in a lot of black churches. God does loves everyone
but he also hates sin no matter who commits it. The
problem is that the bible thumping Christians are the old
church and the new church is God is love and all elusive,
and tolerate of a person sin which is also true.

  8. Chileplease (first and only bih) January 3, 2017

I agree with Tamar. She’s not saying she agrees with her, just that Kim could learn from the situation.

  9. The Wig Snatcher January 3, 2017

The Queen of stealing Black gay culture and lingo should have stayed silent on this.

  10. Myownstan January 3, 2017

God I hate tamar with her plastic face trying to replicate her sisters career… let go of those coat tails you look like a Halloween mask

  11. JuJu January 3, 2017

The whole concept of God is outdated, like women not leading, not preaching, not driving, not speaking, not showing any part of their body, like being slayed for witchcraft.. Religion must expire in 2017, as well as modern slavery… It is running out of steam, but not fast enough. I’m sure she is also one of these idiots trying to force creationism into the science classroom, just because evolution is too much of a high IQ concept to understand or challenge, the thing about the truth is that 1. It is divorced from anyone’s feelings and desires 2. It has stamina.

This is further proof why the world needs to leave religion… in the books of history.

  12. eric January 3, 2017

The church was not wrong to teach that those who sin without repenting will not be forgiven and will not receive eternal life. God’s word says “The wages of sin is death.” Christ died on the cross to fulfill and save us from this fate, but you cannot receive the gift of eternal life without coming to God with a repentant spirit and asking for His forgiveness. We will continue to change (change is not to be confused with evolution) in this world, but God’s word is not to be adjusted to fit the lifestyles that we refuse to break away from. God is very clear on what types of lifestyle are displeasing to Him. If you’re not a believer, you ought to try Him and see what He does in your life. Time is running out.

    • Still Loved January 4, 2017

The thing about this is that ya’ll keep saying the same s*** as if gay ppl don’t know what the Bible says. Ignorance lies in not knowing and while their is a pleatherer of people who willingly choose to be gay there is an abundance of ppl that do not “choose” to be. We are naturally attracted to men/women as you are to the opposite s**. Its not a thought process that goes into it. You all teach and profess resolution for things you cant even begin to understand and expect change. Im so sick of seeing you people telling others what God said, likes, and feels. Neither of you m************ have had an actual conversation with God so quit it.

  13. JoJo January 3, 2017

That was a black woman in a black church speaking some foolishness about black gay men in her church and condemning gay men stating they are going to die in 2017. What in the f*** does Donald Trump have to do with that. If her hand puppet looking ass read a got damn book or a poll. She would know black men and women overwhelming voted for Hilary. Trump won because white folks the dems discounted showed up at the polls. So I don’t get the connection. It’s just more ignorance piled up on top of hate. Like who the f*** are these people and why she feel as if shes entitled to an opinion on a subject that doesn’t even impact her. At least speak for a knowledgeable place and not some half assed opinion. Okay I’m done.

  14. Trina January 3, 2017

Tamar needs to shut her a$$ up. Nobody cares about your opinion. Just have several seats in the corner along with Chris Brown and hush. Thank you.
    *Catwalks away*

  15. Credits January 3, 2017

But why did she feel the need to say anything? Social media is ruthless these days.

  16. Jec2 January 3, 2017

100% with Tamar, screaming down Kim’s throats that she’s wrong will never change her. She needs love. Anyone spewing so much hate needs love and the people around them to be the bigger person. Maybe showing compassion for her, will positively impact her views.

  17. Ugo January 4, 2017

I really respect Tamar for stating her opinion,I can understand better now why she expects 100% loyalty from her friends, and I agree with her reasoning. If you grew up viewing things a certain way,and have accepted that view much of your life, its not the easiest thing to change that overnight. I think everybody is entitled to their opinion. Instead of attacking her, just re-affirm your faith in the validity of your sexual identity. You can’t allow people’s opinions affect your inner peace, except you don’t have it in the first place.

  18. Ugo January 4, 2017

If I might add,I think we need to allow people express their true feelings about the subject,so that we can all respectfully engage in a discourse that might put us all on level ground. Shutting people down will not make them accept or change how they feel about homosexuality. So many celebrities support the LGBTQ community only because it is profitable, and the reality is when a person cannot express their honest feelings in words, they’ll find a different way to express it, so the hate is still there, just not articulated. We all need to show empathy for one another, I for your uniqueness and you for my ignorance. Let’s all respect our differences, and not slam each other. In times like this, the LGBTQ community should extend invitations to church leaders such as Kim,to exchange ideas and opinions instead of attacking or hurling insults. Only love can win over hate really
