Few artists are as revered and respected as R&B icon Maxwell.
As such, we were elated to catch up with the crooner at the BET American Black Film Festival Honors in Los Angeles this week.
In attendance to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the movie ‘Love Jones’ (the soundtrack for which housed his song ‘Sumthin’ Sumthin’), the singer stopped to chat EXCLUSIVELY with That Grape Juice; dishing on the film and its significance and and his upcoming new album.
The latter will serve as the final instalment of his ‘BLACKsummer’snight’ trilogy.
Last year brought with it the second part, which arrived after a seven year hiatus.
This go round, Maxwell says he won’t be leaving his fans waiting as long. Watch his chat with TGJ’s Ques above to find out why.
He’s looking good.
Slay TGJ for getting Maxwell. More than excited for his album. The last one was ALRIGHT but I know he’ll bring it this time
S****** BLONDE IS A 27 YEAR OLD ……….
Maxwell lost his commercial appeal by waiting 7 long years to release that damn album. The follow up to BSN should have been released in 2011 when sales were still good, he could have easily gone platinum.
Facts, indeed!!
Who does he think he is SADE? He wasted time surfboarding with his “white friends” and losing his way…..he went from a Soul Pioneer to Mr. Elevator music.
Yeh waiting so long to release part 2 was s******, which i dunno why it flopped and didn’t go #1 smh
***which is why it flopped*** typo
Love all his songs. His voice is like smooth chocolate
When playing Sade goes wrong.
Good for him
