Retro Rewind: Billboard Hot 100 This Week in 2003 #TBT

Published: Thursday 9th Feb 2017 by Rashad

Readers of That Grape Juice know what avid music lovers we are – especially of hits past.

So, just as our retrospective features ‘From the Vault’ and ‘TGJ Replay’ allow us the chance to re-spin the gems and jams of yesterday of one artist, our newest feature Chart Rewind – a variation of our current Retro Rewind assay – accedes salutes to an entire era of music history.

This week we just have to press play on ‘All I Have’ – the LL Cool J-assisted single found aboard Jennifer Lopez‘s ‘This Is Me…Then’ (click here to read our ode to the full album).  Released in December 2002, ‘Have’ – drawing on Debra Laws‘Very Special’ for its sample – reinforced Lopez’s then-dominance over pop charts and came as a fitting follow-up to the top 5 hit ‘Jenny From the Block.’  Blocking her ‘I’m Real’ co-star Ja Rule from the top spot this week in 2003, ‘All I Have’ held down the chart’s summit for four weeks overall and gave the diva her fourth run atop the Hot 100 (Cool J’s first).

Going on to not only become a fan favorite of the singer’s, but become the title of her hotly-selling Vegas show, tuck in below to relive ‘All’ and see who joined J. Lo in the top 25 this week in 14 years ago:

LOL her last #1 was 13 years ago???
Guess the charts don’t know her anymore

    • SMH February 9, 2017

So? beyonce’s last # 1 was almost 10 years ago. Guess the charts don’t know her either huh lol.

      • Lewey February 10, 2017

The billboard 200 chart has made great friends with Beyoncé. 6 number ones and counting (all of her albums). She actually has the record for most consecutive number one albums for a female artist. Nice try tho. Why did you even bring her up? PRESSEDT

Jlo aka Jho aka Jennifer Hopez has successfull slept her way to the top. Girl you have talent. Just not in singing or acting.

  2. Drakonce February 9, 2017

R&b ran the charts from 90-08

    • MusicFan103 February 9, 2017

It did, and I miss it so much!

  3. JOHNVIDAL February 9, 2017

This was when charts had already started to lose a lot of quality and diversity. At least compared to the 80s and 90s. Most of these R&B and hip hop tracks were generic and absolutely forgettable. There were at least a few great and unique tracks in that lost, but not many. The decrease in quality started with the new millenium (and the downloading era I suppose).
This is definitely not the best Retro Rewind week TGJ has chosen 🙂

Shut the f*** up your pünk ass literally complain in every post

      • LISA LEVINE February 9, 2017

You D_ickRiding B_itch, JOhn speaks the truth. Jennifer Hopez is an overrated Hoebag who slept with every BLACK man in Hollyweird to get to the Top. Read about it.

      • Mariah Carey February 9, 2017

Mr. Vidal tells no lies though dahhhling! We only love 2005 from the 00’s dahhling!

      • JOHNVIDAL February 10, 2017

Bish how do I complain in every post when 90% of the things I do in this blog is visiting the posts about the artists with real talent and praise them? Friend re-evaluate your concept of life and understanding! 🙂

    • unwritten February 10, 2017

You can’t get more generic and forgettable than Whitney, Mariah and Celine with boring, cheesy, disposable, horrible ballads and trainwreck of discographies. Espesically Celine who’s been releasing the same song her entire career.

      • JOHNVIDAL February 10, 2017

Bish please but they had THOSE voices!!!! Not to mention Mariah generic? LMAO Anyway nobody mentioned them, I didn´t even mentioned JLo. I meant in general. Any Retro Rewind TGJ has done from the 90s or 80s has been outstanding, while almost any retro Rewind from the 00s is weak. Music wasn´t being as good in the 00s already, not at all. There´s no possible comparison. The diversity and all.

wow those charts are what that is!!!!! kids will never know what real music was win it ran the charts….TGJ y’all should do one of those debate write-ups about if RnB will ever make a comeback to mainstream ,translation will whites ever like it again …they say everything is cyclical in the industry and comes back but im getting worried that Rap has made MAINSTREAM contemporary RnB extinct outside of beyonce ,mariah, and Justin smh.

    • tROSE February 9, 2017

side note this song was hot! I loved urban J LO

  5. Amerikkka’s Most Wanted ~ Tyler February 9, 2017

RnB and hip hop were buuurrnning up the charts back then! Yeah, urban Jlo was the best

  6. TalentlessFire February 9, 2017

Omg The 2003 Hot 100 Looks Like My Old Tracklist!! I Loved Almost Everything On Tht List! Landslide From Dixie Chicks Was Dope. R&B Used To Dominate The Charts! This New Hot 100 List Looks Like Garbage ?

  7. Stephy February 9, 2017

Is this the song her team stole from Ashanti and kept Ashanti’s voice on the chores?

    • gina February 9, 2017

lol its not like basic ass ashanti would have taken it to #1 tho

      • The A Team February 10, 2017

in 2003, Ashanti coulda taken that song to triple platinum

    • Mark111 February 9, 2017

No, that was I’m Real and Ain’t It Funny remixes. Ashanti is literally singing the hooks. Lol And don’t be dissing Ashanti, she was a force in 2001,2002 and 2003.

  8. Mark111 February 9, 2017

I forgot Miss You was a top ten. I didn’t pay attention to charts back then, but loved that song and album. It was pretty much her Greatest Hits minus a few songs.

  9. MusicFan103 February 9, 2017

I really miss the 90s era but even the early 00s had amazing music. 2000-2006 or so was an amazing period for the Hip Hop and R&B collaborations. Thanks to Murder Inc (Ja and Ashanti), J.Lo, Lil Jon, Ciara, Beyonce (before she went Pop) Black Eyed Peas, Nelly, Ludacris, Missy Elliott, the list goes on.

I love how prominent it was to see a Top 10 back then full of the bangers which were Hip Hop, R&B, or Hip Hop and R&B collabos.

Not to mention, “On The Floor” should have went number 1, it was an amazing 2011 hit single!

  10. Kyle February 9, 2017

I miss these days so much! I loved Jennifer Lopez’ older music…especially her first 2 albums!
