Chart Check [Billboard 200]: Future’s Self-Titled Album Debuts at #1

Published: Friday 3rd Mar 2017 by Rashad

Future stunned fans when he announced the surprise release of his fifth album, the self-titled effort ‘Future.’

A feature-less affair, the album not only led a pack of hip hop releases releases for the week, but also outpaced top-sellers from other genres to lay claim on the Billboard 200’s top spot.

Billboard reports:

Future scores his fourth No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart as his new self-titled effort starts atop the list, earning 140,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Feb. 23, according to Nielsen Music.

…more than half of its units were powered by streaming activity: 73,000 units (equaling 109 million streams of the album’s songs during the tracking frame). The rest of its units were comprised of traditional album sales (60,000) and track equivalent album units (7,000).

From the way things are shaping up, the hitmaking rapper is set to unseat himself on next week’s Billboard 200 with his follow-up release, ‘HNDRXX.’  Until we find out for sure, tuck in below to see who joins him in this week’s refreshed “Chart Check:  Billboard 200.”

    Congrats!

  3. Rosie March 3, 2017

This album was very mediocre. He should stick to R&B influenced songs, as proved by the much superior HNDRXX. His best song (Codeine Crazy) is basically R&B anyways.

    • Jo March 3, 2017

She doesn’t have to. She’s getting a percent of these sales via child support.

Lol Girl you’re no Monica fan. Missthang has you pressed, and living rent free on your mind. Trying to get her dragged doesn’t change her legendary mark in R&B. Stay pressed hun ?

There’s no denying his talent. He definitely has a ear.. I didn’t like the HNDRXX album like I really liked his FUTURE album but after reading review’s and hearing word of mouth, I took a second listen and it’s really GOOD! A lot of the fellas called it the “Male” version of Beyoncé LEMONADE. Lol. I kind of agree, but of course it’s on a more hood, street, ratchet scale of but nonetheless he’s vulnerable AF on there though….. Congratulations to him though, he might be beyond proving himself to be beyond a trend. Consistent.

Mask off is the best track on the album. He dragged cierror flop ass.

  8. JOHNVIDAL March 4, 2017

I knew Bruno Mars was going to end being the top male once more, including this era. If it wasn´t for the streaming joke he would be doing even better on the charts.

    • Migos March 4, 2017

Where’s “I dont” on the charts???

  9. JoJ March 4, 2017

I don’t understand how people can support the music of such a nasty a$$$ man. Creaping with MARRIED WOMEN, cheating … ugh. And I can’t forget that MEDIOCRE performance he did at last year’s vmas. Future is a joke.
