Exclusive: En Vogue Talks New Music, Biopic And Major New Tour

Published: Monday 27th Mar 2017 by David

With over 10 million albums sold worldwide En Vogue stands as one of the highest-selling acts to impact Pop and R&B.

This year, they are to impact the United Kingdom with a brand new live show set to lead the way for their long-awaited new album.

What they had to say about it all when we caught up with them recently?

Find out below…

Joined by Rhona Bennett, Cindy Herron and Terry Ellis will storm the market with a brand new show created to honour the group’s hit-kissed discography and salute its former members Dawn Robinson and Maxine Jones.

The show will be bigger than our earlier shows“, the group explains when our interview begins. “Our fans will be taken through a journey through our music and hear how much we’ve grown and changed as a group since ‘Born to Sing'”.

Its name? ‘For the Love of Music.’

Tickets for the tour are now available to purchase here and are moving fast as momentum surrounding the ladies’ return and forthcoming music rises among their global fan base.

We love Europe and so it made sense for us to celebrate the next chapter in our career with our fans out there. Also, so much of the next album is inspired by the continent’s music scene and has helped us find the balance between our signature sound and what’s contemporary.

Helping them find that balance are Dem Jointz, Raphael Saadiq and, much to the delight of their die-hard fans, the group’s founders Denzil Foster and Thomas McElroy.

What’s most exciting about the new album is that its eclectic and pulls from all of the music we’re inspired by. So there are elements from Boss Nova, Dance music, Pop, Rock and R&B. Lyrically, it’s message driven. ‘Free Your Mind’ is just as important today as it was when we released it in ’92 and so our goal is to share stories which are just as powerful.

When asked about talk surrounding a proposed New Edition-style biopic the group admits that “we aren’t interested in that at the moment but never say never.”

What fans would be most surprised to learn from a movie about the group’s journey.

We never fought…at least not with each other. People would be shocked to find out that any drama about the group always happened outside of it because we never made it personal. That’s why, even after all these years, we believe- that if everyone was happy with the terms and agreements- fans could see the group as it is now and the group as it was reunite. The door will always be open because the love never left.

We can’t wait for everyone to see the European tour and the U.S. tour that will follow it. Our fans have been with us for almost thirty years and we feel deeply connected to them. This feeling has inspired everything from the lights, costumes and set list. Come out and have a good time with us.

Join them here.

  2. crimsonREDD March 27, 2017

Wish the real En Vogue lineup would settle their differences. They made classic music together. Rhonda has never been the business to me. But whatever, get your coins girls

    • Jasmine March 27, 2017

Alicia Keys tried to bring them together in 08. I think the problem has always been Terry wanting to control the business decisions for the group.

  3. RihYonce March 27, 2017

    13 dates isn’t exactly a “major” tour.

  9. B**** pleeeaaasseeeee March 27, 2017

Basically En Vogue was like x4 Beyoncé. No weakest link whatsoever ??????

  10. Beyoncé Jackson March 27, 2017

EV was sooo major. They had it all! Vocals, looks and stage presence. It sucks that their egos ended them so prematurely. They are much better together than apart..

Ugggghhh TGJ just had to find a pic that has Fleayonce & Solami in it! Everything music does not have to involve Fleayonce! FOH!

  17. Bill March 27, 2017

No Dawn, no En Vogue. Hang it up. No one wants this.

  18. JTT March 27, 2017

  19. Sliq March 27, 2017

I cant wait to see them perform in Cape Town this Wednesday evening. Love these girls, they paved the way for many r&b girl groups.

  20. HOWYOULIKEIT March 27, 2017

Sorry but there is no En Vogue without Dawn and Maxine. They’ve been flopping ever since Dawn left.

  21. Fake loooove March 27, 2017

    Not without Dawn and Maxine.?

  22. southernflop March 27, 2017

Maybe if the puppets Cindy and Terry would wise up and stop kissing ass then they’d be able to get back in the charts without Dawn & Maxine. All four women are dumb as hell.

  23. AmbeRussell March 27, 2017

Dawn was in 2 groups and was licked out of both. She had a relationship, tried to “expose” the guy and he went ham on her. She was on rnb divas LA and that too didn’t work out for her. Either it is just bad luck, but everything seems to boil down to her not working well with others.

    • jimmie batchelor March 28, 2017

      A-to-the-MEN!!
