New Song: Jennifer Hudson – ‘Remember Me’

Published: Friday 3rd Mar 2017 by Sam

Jennifer Hudson returns with new single ‘Remember Me.’

The rousing track is the first taste of the Grammy and Oscar winner’s fourth studio album, which is expected to hit stores later this year via Epic Records. It’ll mark Hudson’s first release for the L.A Reid helmed label.

Having flirted with dancier sounds on 2014’s ‘JHUD,’ ‘Remember Me’ finds the vocal wonder on more familiar terrain – one which lets her voice take center stage.

Take a listen below…

Bravo!

Sonically, this is the lane Hudson seems most suited. The production draws on her churchy-lean, while still having the same contemporary flair that made ‘Spotlight’ such a “moment” for her.

Lyrically the track is compelling and proves quality content can still be paired with a commercial coating.

Where this fits in the radio landscape will be interesting to see, but it’s definitely a stride in the right direction.

Tidbit: Did anyone else get an “Emeli Sande” feel from this? We did and think it’s the smartest lane for J.Hud. A/C skewed with potential for mass appeal.

Your thoughts?

Sounds like a 2011 Adele b-side, and she has no colors to her voice. She’s always boisterous all the time.

The industry love keeping everyone in their own lanes. Taylor for the blonde pop b******, Beyoncè for the urban audience, Adele for blue eyed soul and Jennifer – the industries resident choir church girl. There are hundreds upon hundreds of black women with her kind of voice out there, why do they insist on pushing just her, as if she’s the only church sounding black girl aloud out. Industry is racist. Meanwhile we got white b****** like Anne Marie, Sia and Ed Sheehan currently appropriating island culture with their s***** dancehall inspired tracks.

Jennifer Hudsons style of singing is more Broadway than church. Most gospel singers today do not sing like that. Maybe in the 80’s….

        I’m obsesssssed.

I think it suits her perfectly.

There’s definitely a Emeli Sande feel to it, but with that jhud touch.

        4/5

I wish her the best of luck

Side not this is Def Adele lane if this were her
As omg it would blow up …but when the black girl with pipes sings it’s overlooked wake up people

Adele’s tone is much prettier than Jennifer’s. Her vocal should’ve been a little softer on this particular song and it should’ve been released in 2010/2011.

Here’s yet another flop from Jennifer Hudson. This song sounds so tired! How about we talk about Candice Boyd’s new song Make Me Over. Never heard of her before but this girl can blow and she should be the next big girl in pop/r&b

While J.Hud has a big voice it just stays in one place and has no color she is and always has been broadway and that is it. She needs to find balance in her sound because it becomes dated very quickly.

Hello! Thank you! She sounds the same on every song: Boisterous! I prefer my vocalists to have different layers to their voice.

  7. Killian March 3, 2017

Lovely song definitely her lane but I agree with the comment that her voice sounds always the same .It’s big ,yes.Boisterous ,yes.pipes yes .But its almost boring. The songbis lit though.

    • Blue Gangsta March 3, 2017

She had an album called “I Remember Me”

      • MusicLife March 5, 2017

Oh wow why name a song the near same then.

  9. eric March 3, 2017

I thought it sounded perfect until the Adele inspiration kicked in with an awkward snare drum. I don’t wanna think of Adele when I hear Jennifer; let Jen be Jen.

Zzzzzzz zzzzzzzz zzzź sleeper. Similar to Adele’s Water Under the Bridge but not as nowhere good

  11. Cred1814 March 4, 2017

JHuds music is boring as hell and to this day her music has not been consistent. Yes she has a great voice but carries no soul. Fantasia music catalog out shines Jennifer’s hands down, which is why Fanny can go out and make money touring. Jennifer has never left the gate!
