The Predictions Are In: Trey Songz’ ‘Tremaine’ Set To Sell…

Published: Tuesday 28th Mar 2017 by Rashad

Despite a unique roll-out (see: VH1 reality dating show ‘Tremaine the Playboy’), ‘Tremaine’ – the latest album from Grammy-nominated R&B crooner Trey Songz – appeared to be his least anticipated to date.

Though impressively managing to work its way to #2 on the iTunes Top 100 less than 24 hours after its March 24th debut, the LP has been greeted with mixed reviews from leading music critics and fans alike.  Moreover, the set – preceded by a host of music videos unveiled in the weeks before it hitting shelves – stands as his only LP to date to be released without a Hot 100-charting single ahead of it.

With all these things considered, industry analysts have rendered their prediction for ‘Tremaine’s first week sales sum.  To our surprise, the numbers are more than fair.

Curious to see how it stacks up against its predecessors?  We thought you’d be…

‘Tremaine’ First Week Sales Prediction:   60,000 – 65,000 SPS

Predicted Billboard 200 Chart Placement:  #4

The numbers come as his second lowest first week sum with the lowest being the 40,000 moved by his 2005 debut album, ‘I Gotta Make It.’

This are actually decent numbers! I just knew it would be like 40k, like all the other r&b acts are selling

    • Jasmine March 28, 2017

Don’t try and generalize with bogus statements like “other r&b acts sell the same” because that is a lie. Chris Brown, Beyonce, Bruno Mars, Bryson Tiller, Frank Ocean, and even Solange all crushed Trey’s little numbers with the first week sales from their last albums.

      • DALVINI March 29, 2017

bryson did lower first weeks sales than this

      • Samsung brought my albums March 29, 2017

Ummm beyonce bruno and Frank r pop artist

    • Last name Ever, first name Greatest March 29, 2017

These are decent RnB numbers but slightly disappointing for Trey Songz considering he has some what of a hip-hop influenced backing (partly) and Trigga the album opened with nearly 120k iirc not too long ago

  2. Adele4Life March 28, 2017

Is that more than Ushers last album or more?

    • DALVINI March 28, 2017

his leaked on tidal a month before

    • RihYonce March 28, 2017

Usher’s definitely was a tidal exclusive cut it out. None of these R&B dudes are selling like Usher was.

  3. Steven March 28, 2017

    Not bad for a R&B album….

  4. No favs just here for the music March 28, 2017

Not bad at all! I thought it would be around 50K

  5. Brandy Fan March 28, 2017

    Flop numbers all around.

    • Naima March 28, 2017

Lol stop trolling as a Brandy and Monica fan trying to get them dragged

  6. iSpeakTruthNoFallacy March 28, 2017

    That’s a lot better than I expected

  7. edisondreams March 28, 2017

There is no way in hell…. Im sorry but those numbers seem inflated… His label must be buying most of those albums cuz i dont know anyone personally who is interested in his album.. I was expecting more like 14,000-20,000 albums sold… I am 100% sure those numbers are wrong… his label doesn’t want him to look like a big flop…

    • Jasmine March 28, 2017

Well I think your opinion will be proven true with the second week’s sales. Anytime albums have huge drops in sales it means the first week sales were highly inflated to begin with.

    • Last name Ever, first name Greatest March 29, 2017

“I dont know anyone who bought the album so those numbers are fake”

      Your point dumb as hell.

  8. MUSICHEAD March 28, 2017

Trey has an active fanbase so this is right where he should be without a hit at radio yet

  9. Kiii March 28, 2017

I don’t think this is bad for him. Trey is one of the few, if not the only male at least, who didn’t abandon R&B. I was expecting less, so good for him.

    • Jasmine March 28, 2017

Anthony Hamilton, Chris Brown, Bryson Tiller, etc have not “abandoned R&B” so why are you making false claims?

      • DALVINI March 29, 2017

bryson just begun and chris kinda did as the commenter is talking about not switching sides to do pop.

      • Kiii March 29, 2017

You’re not very bright, are you?

  10. G7Pat March 28, 2017

Decent. I thought less. I wonder what pure will be.

  11. Navy Gravy March 28, 2017

Not too bad. His last album opened with 100k and that was before the streaming rule and the sales equivalent streams mess started. I haven’t been hearing any of his stuff anyway may be a lot of people don’t know about it.

  12. RihYonce March 28, 2017

This are decent numbers for it to be R&B. He should be fine in the long run. Trey will have a hit this summer & he can promote it album by performing at the BET Awards (which he most likely will)

  13. LadyEmpress March 28, 2017

I like the album so far. Chris Brown is another one who hasnt abandon r&b.

    • Last name Ever, first name Greatest March 29, 2017

Please. Chris has a whole 2 eras of dance pop.

  14. Mark111 /.\ March 28, 2017

These artist can’t even get 100K with streams. When people aren’t even clicking your ish, then it’s time to hang it up. This song sounds like a Jason DooDoo song. 12 years a lessor.

  15. Jeans March 28, 2017

    Better than Xpected.

  16. PlayWithMe March 28, 2017

Y’all Were Givin’ Ciara HELL About Sellin’ Under 70,000 Copies & Now Y’all Wanna Say sellin’ 60,000 Copies Are Decent For Trey Songz? Im Done With U Flip Floppin’ Hypocrites!!

    • Naima March 28, 2017

This still sold more than Jackie, Ciara and Basic Instinct LoL

    • shade March 28, 2017

Lol Girl hush..because Ciara pulled in 19K for Jack-off.

    • XYZ March 29, 2017

Ciara is way more mainstream than trey and actually comes from a whole different level successfully. That is why people are so harsh on her numbers (which have truely been a Desaster for the last two albums). She has been handled as the next Aaliyah and couldn’t live up to it. Trey is just irrelevant and has always been more a second or third level musician, but was never an a grade like Ciara was. So her downfall is not comparable

      • Drakonce April 3, 2017

Crazy thing is, Aaliyah never did over 70k first week and she was still the baddest in the game. Numbers do not define you.

  17. Mar March 29, 2017

Before I came in I guessed 60k. It seems that most relevant R&B artist peak about there for some odd reason. ?

  18. JOHNVIDAL March 29, 2017

He has been surprising me with his first week sales all these years to be honest. Musically he´s irrelevant and nobody will remember him in the future. But hey he has some real fans. Congrats. Although they didn´t even offer us the real sales.

  19. XYZ March 29, 2017

How? Nobody seemed interested in him. And let’s be real, the numbers are not that bad. But I still don’t see who would have bought this album. This blog is full of people who should be his audience and target group. Still nearly no one here was interested. Me neither. So where Are the people that have bought this album? Guess one commenter here was right when he said that his label bought the album…

  20. Pat March 29, 2017

    Lmaoooo. Who bought it?

  21. DanYiel Iman March 29, 2017

    Hasn’t heard the album…

  22. Gee March 29, 2017

Less than ?k with all the promo he has been doing this is considered a flop but at the same time he is same ball park as most R&B acts and their opening sales. So it just goes to show that R&B as whole is suffering and under appreciated by the masses right now.

  23. Lake Erie March 29, 2017

Wow, I expected more… to be his name sake, the album wasn’t strong at all….

  24. SMH March 29, 2017

Lmfao at all you clueless folks trying to spin these FLOP numbers into something “decent”. He’s not going to scan Gold and these numbers prove it so how are they “decent” lol.
