From The Vault: Terror Squad – ‘Lean Back (ft. Remy Ma & Fat Joe)’

Published: Sunday 5th Mar 2017 by Joe

While the world impatiently waits for Nicki Minaj to strike back at Remy Ma for the back-to-back blows, From The Vault journeys back you to the year 2004 for yet another Urban classic.

Today’s pick is ‘Lean Back’ by a Fat Joe and Remy fronted Terror Squad.

Helmed by 00’s producer-extraordinaire Scott Storch, the track is the definition of club banger and sees Joe and Rem trading verses while commanding the listener to pull up their pants and… lean back.

A Billboard smash, it topped the Hot 100 tally for 3 consecutive weeks during Summer 04 and placed #10 on the Year End Chart.

DJ Khaled, Kevin Hart, Lil Jon and N.O.R.E all make appearances in the Jessy Terrero and Raul Conde directed visual where the clan can be seen hanging out in the streets of their beloved New York City and getting crunk with scantily clad ladies.

Hopefully the explosive beef between the Terror Squad Queen and Hip-Hop’s current leading lady Nicki Minaj brings more attention to the talent that is Remy Ma and gives her a big enough platform to really shine on her own.

As heard on ‘Shether,’ her raw energy, her unapologetic and aggressively explicit content paired with her deep tone – as well as her life story – makes her one of the most interesting artists at the moment.

As always, we’d love nothing more than to see, or should we say HEAR. the ladies make peace on a fiery track which would not doubt would be a home-run.

If Jay Z and Nas can, why couldn’t they?

Because Jay-Z and nas are mature grown adults. Nicki acts like a petulant child who doesn’t want to share her toys with anyone.

Nicki has yet to do a song of her own with fellow female rappers I am shocked she allowed her vocals on the “my chick bad” remix tbh.

“Lean back” was classic and still remains so and honestly to me Remy verse made the song aside from the chorus. I don’t care much what fat joe is saying.

As a nicki fan if she is the queen she needs to come out and shut Remy down with one track and then be about her business. I feel not and she ignores it. Looks like she is scared.

    • Danzou March 5, 2017

she’s not ignoring remy and she’s not gonna let anyone come for her throne especially as a rapper. every man in hip hop says they’re the king when obviously only jay nas biggie pac ice cube Dre etc are the kings. when women come along why aren’t they allowed to dominate? if nicki isn’t the queen then WHERE is the girl that has YET to take her out? exactly. remy has a chance but she’s too unprofessional for her own good and isn’t nearly as in control of her career as nicki is. when Beyonce made bow down everyone reacted the same way. henry couldn’t believe a woman was staking her claim as the best.

You must be stupid if you think it’s smart for Nicki to reply to someone looking for a thirsty come up. This “diss record” will eventually lose all its steam and Nicki will go back to being a superstar…. and I’m not even a fan of Nicki’s. I just hate when thirsty bums try to bully their way into people’s lives out of nowhere just beacuse they are scraping for change and need some hype. Remy came out of nowhere with this beef and dissed someone for being deaf of all things. Nicki would be helping this bum out to respond. Remy hasn’t gotten this much popularity since she was thrown in prison. People on social media love feuds and would love to see Nicki come out of her element to adress a lesser because a lot of them are misreable and misery loves company. Nicki responding to Remy would be like Jay-Z responding to Tyga.

Not really because Remy has respect and a #1 hit. Two things Tyga doesn’t have. Bad example try again.

If you are the queen you don’t let someone get this kind of hype talking bad about you.

Period. This is from a Nicki fan above Remy. So bye.

There are only 15 comments (now 16) on this post about that #1 hit you speak of, which speaks volumes. No one is checking for Remy outside of a beef with Nicki. That wasn’t even her song, she was a featured artist. I don’t care about Nicki being the queen or not, I just don’t like Remy and her thirsty bullying. She is like Tyga in that they both are struggle rappers that can never seem to get their big break.

    My arms stay breezy,
    The Don’s stay fizz-i,
    Got a date at 8, I’m in the 740’fizz-i
And I just bought a bike so I can ride til’ I die,
    With a matchin’ jacket,
Bout’ to cop me a mansion,
My n***** in the club, but you know they not dancin’.
We gangsta, and gangstas don’t dance- we boogie,
So nevermind how we got in here with the burners and hoodies.
