Alicia Keys Named On TIME’s ‘Most Influential People Of 2017’ List

Published: Thursday 20th Apr 2017 by Sam

Alicia Keys has ample cause for celebration.

For, the 15-time Grammy winner has been named on TIME‘s ‘Most Influential People Of 2017’ list.

Joining the likes of Viola Davis, Chance The Rapper, and Colin Kaepernick, the 36-year-old is featured in honor of her achievements as an artist over the last year.

And, in keeping it real, we’re a bit perplexed.

Sure, she has a catalogue that will be ever-enduring; but there’s no denying that whatever influence she had over the last 12 months wasn’t enough to make folk buy her most recent album ‘HERE.’

From where we’re standing, she’d be more suitable for a salute of her infallible charity efforts or as a pioneer for social change. But musically? This year? That’s a reach and a half.

Congrats, nonetheless. Because no matter which way it’s diced or sliced, this is win for brand.

Peep the full list below…

Delete this. This has nothing to do with album sales…… John legend’s album sold less then Alicia’s and I don’t see y’all making articles about him….

    • Marjani April 20, 2017

Exactly, she was chosen because of her No Makeup Movement

      • DanYiel Iman April 20, 2017

RIGHT!! Something that most African American woman have been doing since the beginning of time…?

    • SMH April 20, 2017

Exactly, this isn’t about sales. Sounds like they’re bitter because a certain overrated fave of theirs didn’t make the cut.

LOL I always knew and always said these lists are a joke. When they put always Beyonce there or whoever they put. But now this is a pucking real proof of that. Alicia Keys???? John legend???? I love Alicia I swear. But… in 2017? Most influential? 🙂 Demi Lovato?…

Are you people retarded? It has nothing to do with sales, there are many phenomenal artists that are not charting, but as an artist she is very influential and her latest project was A1 people are not supporting REAL Musicians anymore, they are settling for mediocre, Alicia is a MUSICIAN with great influence.
