Beyonce Launches The ‘Formation Scholars’ Program

Published: Tuesday 25th Apr 2017 by Sam

Beyonce‘s ‘Formation’ has matured into more than a single and tour. It’s now a movement.

Queen Bey solidified this reality today when announcing the creation of the Formation Scholars program.

The scheme, launched as part of the 1 year anniversary celebration of the ‘Lemonade’ album, is for the 2017-2018 academic year and is aimed at encouraging female students to fearlessly pursue greatness by way of education.

In partnership with notable colleges such as Berklee and Howard, Bey’s foundation will offer scholarships (one per institution) to female students looking to study creative arts, music, literature, or African-American studies.

See details below…

This is major.

Kudos to Beyonce for always striving beyond the celebrity norm to use her platform for powerful and purpose-filled initiatives like this.

She slays. All day.

This is awesome! People can continue to shade Beyonce all they want. One thing that can’t be denied is that Beyonce is a woman & public figure who VERY AWARE of her power & influence especially amongst young girls and women everywhere! Unlike some celebrities who have that same effect and DON’T want to be a role model, Beyonce embraces it & uses her platform for things bigger than herself! 20 yrs strong and this women is JUST GETTING STARTED!!!

She needs to finish her hooked on phonics classes before she starts worrying about other people’s education. She sounds illiterate.

Damn girl! Roger Federer out here feeding Africa! Rihanna out here building cancer centers! Mariah out here pumping money into the Fresh Air Fun for Kids! Lebron sending HUNDREDS of kids to college in Cleveland!

But we gonna act like she doing the most by awarding 4 scholarships? 4???????? F-O-U-R?

If this site only gave other artists who were doing big things credit instead of forcing Beyonce’s minimalist everything down out throats, the blogosphere would be a more even platform!

I was so excited to hear this news until I realized she was giving away 4 scholarships. Like come on…I have to agree. 100 is a more fitting number. especially considering how much the general public support her.

  9. Tori April 25, 2017

How is this major only beyonce does it? Celebrities are out here doing this everyday, people who just got money do this kind of thing for “inner city kids” and “urban kids” ALL THE TIME! And it’s only for 4 people?

    • LB April 25, 2017

It’s major because Beyonce and her mosquito hive don’t value education.

  10. LB April 25, 2017

Firstly, why? It’s not like her fans go to school anyway or can even qualify to go to college.

Secondly, what a mess of programs. What does a degree in music get you besides being a bus boy.

I guess she has run out of made up awards to purchase.
