Mariah Carey Announces New Album Due This Year

Published: Monday 10th Apr 2017 by Rashad

Pop icon Mariah Carey has proven once again it’s nothing for her to shake it off – “it,” in this case, being rumors that she and label home, Epic Records, were imminently due to part ways due to the nonperformance of her latest efforts (see:  ‘I Don’t,’ etc.).

Taking to press today, Epic Records not only made the shocking announcement of “recommitting” to Carey’s contract, but also added fans can expect a new album from the diva THIS YEAR!

Details inside:

Taking to press, label leader LA Reid is quoted:

“To continue working with Mariah Carey at Epic has been another rewarding chapter of my career. Mariah’s incomparable talents as a singer, with her vocal range that is nothing short of legendary, are matched by her brilliance as a songwriter, producer, and performer par excellence. Mariah’s chart records have established her enduring place in music history, a position that is cherished and supported by her loyal fans worldwide. I look forward to building upon all of Mariah’s success for years to come.”

Carey added:

“I am putting my heart and soul into making more new music. I am so thrilled for this next chapter and to continue working with, and for, everyone that I love.”

Epic Records has recommitted to Mariah Carey, announcing Monday a new joint partnership between the singer’s Butterfly MC Records and the Sony Music Entertainment label as well as a long-awaited studio album due out “later this year.”

The news, much to the delight of fans, contradicts Carey’s own reports that she was focusing more on singles instead of working on a full length LP.  The announcement of a new album will certainly help distract from those other MC reports from the day (click here to see what we’re talking about).

I’m sure what happened is they threatened to end her contract and blacklist her unless she made a new album. Say what you will about her s***** material in recent years but there will always be curiosity to whatever she puts out. Whether it flops, people will still listen to it.

FADED was the prime moment for her to get back on radio. DEF JAM really screwed up that project.

Mariah Carey will always be one of the pioneers in her generation. I purchased her last album and for her wanting to keep releasing new material is fine with me.

    This is great news.
The fact that people are so quick to label and Album or single a “flop” based off sales and not content is a true indicator of how dilapidated the music climate is.
I’ll take a good album from any artist over commercial success any day. Commercial success can be bought through promotions and deals, but content can’t.
    Good luck MC.
Make an album that you haven’t made before.
Don’t focus on past success, instead, aim to create a new formula! With Mariah’s vocal ability, I would like to hear her sing in her lower register. That would be totally different for her.

Your statement is valid and it’s evident the climate right now is oversaturated with garbage. Artists with substance for some reason don’t get as much recognition. In Mariah’s case she already pushed boundaries and although she’s in an era where the general public would rather have microwavable records instead of quality she’s able to connect with her audience that supported her since day one. She will always get my support.

Maybe she only wanted to release singles. Perhaps this agreement is new. Sam is very negative when it comes to MC. Bitter a** hater. How tf is a break up a spinned into what you’re trying to make it.. Shut tf up. With the right set up this could be great..

It can aonly be good news. New music from legends is always good news. Nothing else to prove. Just music.
I´m among the people who think she could truly have a big commercial comeback if she truly worked with new people. Kind of like what happened with #Beautiful or her Xmas album from 2010. She could even release easier-to-sing songs that are actually more radio and hit-friendly nowadays. Songs like “Royals” for example, which are catchy but also have quality and uniqueness (grammys included). It would be nothing for her to sing that.
