I don’t like the lyrical content of the song or the production. Brandy has a great vocal gift but cocky songs in 2017 given the peaks and valleys of her career isn’t the way to go. Perhaps sing something that a larger audience an relate to on a more substantial level similar to her ‘Never Say Never’ Era. Humble yourself *Kendrick* style call Rodney Jerkins and return to making timeless music stop riding trends!
Have you never heard of her song “Saddidy”? Brandy is actually known for her sassy songs like TBIM and What About Us, WIS2U and countless others. This isn’t new for her. Plus you don’t know what else she’s recorded. Stop trying to make her go back to a sound that’s 20 years old. Never Say Never is history and that’s just that. It’s great that she can’t move forward and do new things.
Some of these commenters on Brandy are delusional. Seriously they didn’t grow up on her or didn’t get exposed to her records. That’s fine and I have no issue with it. The issue I have is just as you stated some people will try to create mess just to do so. Brandy is going to slay and I’m very excited to what she’s bringing to the table with the new material. Brandy is one of the rare artist that actually created a lane in r&b period. I notice other artists have openly stated they see her as an influence. She’s the blueprint to be honest because I notice with the direction of a few r&b singers they have studied her. The direction of that dark, moody, pleasant, and harmony r&b sound is what Brandy has done. She really has a few people salty but whatever I saw this woman in concert not too long ago and I’m thankful I got to see my favorite artist I supported for all these years. She has always been one of my favorite artists. She’s going to really push her artistry and I’m glad she’s able to do what she wants in her record. I mean this new material is going to be awesome!
