Katy Perry On Taylor Swift’s ‘Bad Blood’ Two Years Later: ‘Don’t Come For Me!’

Singer Dishes On Themes Found Aboard Her Yet-Titled New Album

As fans continue to pass on second servings of pop singer Katy Perry‘s latest release, the Migos-assisted ‘Bon Appetit,’ the singer/songwriter is stirring a cooled pot of “beef,” namely a fan-fueled feud between herself and fellow pop chart-topper Taylor Swift.

Many assumed the latter’s 2015 chart ruling ‘Bad Blood’ was a diss aimed at Perry and, if a recent interview is to judge by, that’s a sentiment she too doesn’t appear to think is too far fetched.  Taking to our friends at EW, the ‘Firework’ singer had some fiery words for “anybody” who wanted to “come for her,” especially Ms. Swift.

Read her thoughts on this, her new album she’s branded “purposeful pop,” and so much more inside:

EW:  Does this album have a reaction to “Bad Blood”?

KATY PERRY: Well that’s not my question to answer — if it’s about me. I think [my new album is] a very empowered record. There is no one thing that’s calling out any one person.

One thing to note is: You can’t mistake kindness for weakness and don’t come for me. Anyone. Anyone. Anyone. Anyone.

…let me say this: Everything has a reaction or a consequence so don’t forget about that, okay, honey. [Laughs] We got to keep it real, honey.

When quizzed on her new album (rumored to be titled ‘Witness’):

“It’s really quite brave,” says Perry of her new 15-song album. “Sonically, it’s fun and dance-y and dark and light. It’s all of these things. It definitely is a change.”

“I left my 20s and I’ve gone to my 30s,” she says. “I’ve embraced. I’ve surrendered. I’ve healed some of my issues with my family, with my relationships. Today I’m sober but I don’t know about tomorrow! One day at a time, right? [Laughs] It’s all kind of beautiful. I built up Katy Perry and she was so fun. And I still am Katy Perry and I love her so much but, at the core, I’m Katheryn Hudson and I think that’s being revealed as I embrace who I really am.”

No release date has been revealed for Perry’s new album as of time reported.

Reminds me of when Madonna started to come for Lady Gaga one or two YEARS after the events that supposedly caused her anger. Of course she had to release an album and promote the Superbowl with controversy.
