This Sunday’s BET Awards are opening with a bang courtesy of Bruno Mars.

The chart titan will kick off Urban entertainment’s biggest night, it was confirmed moments ago.

Host Leslie Jones made the announcement on Twitter:

It’ll be interesting to see what role the comedienne plays in what is sure to be an explosive performance from Mars, who – along with Beyonce – leads this year’s nominations.

Other performers set to hit the stage include Chris Brown, Mary J Blige, New Edition, Xscape, SZA, and Tamar Braxton.

The 2017 BET Awards air live this Sunday (June 25th) from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

I really want all the stars to come out and make a mark on history. make award shows interesting again. Make BET awards something to rave about again, And stop letting rappers steal the show and ruin the production, Showcase black excellence and fun times. Nothing against rap music or rappers, but They literally have their own award show with the BET Hip Hop Awards. Just be all inclusive of the black culture and not just rap music

He’s really about to slay! Everybody’s looking for another female, but he’s next in line for the MJ title people love tossing around, if he plays his cards right

I don’t think that’s really tossed around. Now the word “iconic”? That’s tossed around. The only people I’ve ever seen seriously compared to Michael in that way is Beyoncé and at one point Chris Brown. Chris did have the potential but he blew it. His music is trash. His music is one dimensional and his attitude sucks. Bruno slid right in to his spot. I agree with you there. Bruno’s got the juice. The only thing I’d say Bruno needs to deserve that comparison is consistency. He needs to be consistent. Two great eras isn’t enough. He definitely has the talent and the charisma. He’s very likable. I’m interested to see how he approaches the next 10 years of his career.

I know this is random but has Jazmine Sullivan ever performed at BET awards? 🙁

Sadly She hasn’t, it’s a shame cuz that girl is a real talent and She does deserves recognition.
