Grammy Awards Makes Major Voting Changes

Published: Wednesday 14th Jun 2017 by David

Times are a-changing over at the Grammys.

Keen to ensure that its system stands strong against the threat of errors and fraudulent voting, the powers-that-be have announced major changes today.

For the very first time, voting members will be allowed to vote online to create flexibility for touring acts and pull the heat out of any attempts to cheat the system by way of fraudulent voting.

There’s more.

Hits Daily Double explains…

Nominations Review Committees will be created for the Rap, Contemporary Instrumental and New Age fields. The nominations review process was established in 1989 as an additional round of checks and balances to eliminate the potential for a popularity bias that puts emerging artists, independent music, and late-year releases at a disadvantage.

There’s good news for songwriters too.

As of next year, they will be added to the Album of the Year category alongside producers, engineers, mixers, mastering engineers, featured artists who are credited with at least 33% of publishing on the winning release!

Bill Freimuth, Senior Vice President of Awards for the Recording Academy shared:

As an Academy, it’s imperative that we continue to meet the needs of music creators everywhere, and this year’s transition to online voting is an enormous step forward in the evolution of our voting process. We work diligently to ensure we’re keeping up with our ever-changing industry and team up with music people year round, across all genres and disciplines, to make sure we are doing everything we can to support the creative community.

Blah, Blah, Blah, all they are doing is saying we are going to make people think we changed something but your favs still won’t win the big awards.

    • Justmeeeee June 15, 2017

      Exactly !!!!
      Nuff said

  4. Sam June 14, 2017

What they need to do is put the R&B category back to how it was before and take out all of these “pop” artists out because they are black

  5. Metzo June 14, 2017

I thought they were gonna change the constituency of the voting board but no..

    • Hmmm… June 14, 2017

Same. Moving voting to online is nothing. Get all of those old white geezers off the board and then we can talk.

  6. S****** Blonde June 14, 2017

They are trying to regain their credibility, too late.

    • Jamie June 14, 2017

I agree. So after allll of these years, they’ve allowed cheating? I’m over it.

  7. I HATE WHITE n BLACK BIT..,,,HES June 14, 2017

there needs to be a category for when artists imitate other people’s work the way Beyonce does that artist gets no credit for their creativity. By creating music videos or art that is duplicated

    • DanYiel Iman June 14, 2017

Surely Beyoncé isn’t the only artist who has done things of that nature MOST ARTIST USE THE SAME RECIPES!!

      • gina June 14, 2017

she’s the only one that doesn’t give credit.

  8. gina June 14, 2017

theyre trying to make it harder for beyonce to buy any more awards lol.

    • RealNegro June 14, 2017

      Surely she has enough!

    • Caleb June 14, 2017

If she were really out here buying awards, don’t you think she would’ve bought album of the year?! Think about it.

      • Sandra June 14, 2017

Nah, you can’t be too obvious, she’s already doing the illuminati in plain site so she has to hold her cards elsewhere

      • gina June 14, 2017

exactly sandra, she can’t make it too obvious even tho the tea has already been spilled lol.

      • Hmmm… June 14, 2017

Ya’ll sound stupid. Beyonce winning album of the year ONCE makes it obvious that someone cheating, but White Mediocrity personified, aka. Taylor, winning TWICE, doesn’t??

  9. Meteorite June 14, 2017

Hey can you guys post about Living Single being available to purchase on iTunes? All 5 seasons are up!

  10. Fact Checker June 14, 2017

The GRAMMY’s are just as Fraudulent as the Oscar’s they just Rebranded their Bias the same as Racism has been re-branded in this country. No substantial changes have been made. The fact that Drake won a RAP Grammy for ‘Hotline Bling’ a song he didn’t even Rap on speaks volumes to the errors in the category process not to mention the gross negligence in the awarding process. Too little too late yet again and I stand with Frank Ocean on this B.S. they are just doing damage control to preserve attendance next year but I guarantee ratings will FALL!!

  11. @ASAPicon June 14, 2017

They are still a tacky awards show

  12. ??? June 14, 2017

the grammy wouldnt be in this mess if they didn’t allow fraudyonce to keep buying trophies every year.

    • 2bad2bme June 14, 2017

Sure and she bought her talent too, right? ?

  13. Datredd June 14, 2017

    • Datredd June 14, 2017

  14. BangBang June 14, 2017

    About damn time!

  15. #TeamTinashe Stan June 14, 2017

I honestly don’t even care about the “awards” anymore I am just here to see the celebs and performances.
We ain’t gonna act like Labels, Teams and Artists aren’t paying to win award or the fact that these award shows nominate and award people to get Social Media buzz and ratings for their shows.

I’ve always wondered WHY every award show especially the Grammys who will nominate all the popular albums from R&B, Hip Hop, Pop and insert an unknown hyped album for “Album of the Year” and fail to give other genres that highlight (Ex: Reggae) now I know. It’s because it’s to keep us watching and anticipate all the way through the end of their show to increase ratings.

  16. Frank June 15, 2017

They need to separate R&B from hip hop and pop music.
