Mess! Iggy Azalea Slams Record Label / Says 2nd Album Now Has No Release Date

Published: Thursday 1st Jun 2017 by Rashad

It looks like ‘Switch’ rapper Iggy Azalea found out her label home has hit the off switch on her serially delayed sophomore album, ‘Digital Distortion.’

The set – kicked off by three nonperforming singles ‘Team,’ ‘Switch,’ and ‘Mo Bounce’ – is no longer on Def Jam’s priority list, Azalea revealed on a recent Snapchat.  This, reportedly thanks in part to a recent leak that saw the album’s content hit the net in full an entire month before its previously announced June 30th release date.

Iggy didn’t say what the exact cause was, but she did reach out to her fans to give them an update.   Hear it from her lips:

Ouch!  This is a bonafide mess.  Keep in mind, after the nonperformance of ‘Team’ last year the rapper reportedly scrapped the original version of ‘Digital Distortion’ to create an entirely new body of work.  If the label has opted not to go forward with June 30th release of the project, this means she literally would have two albums’ (worth of material) shelved in just a year’s time.

Here’s hoping this is sorted out quickly as time is of the essence for Miss Azalea.

Face it she’s black balled in the industry. Regardless of what type of hit she brews up, the industry will not let her get the win. It’s just as simple as that!

    • Mashyu June 2, 2017

      You mean whiteballed 😛

    • Caleb June 6, 2017

      What hit though?

This is what happens when you can’t make hits. Iggy, you knew since last year that you were over, but I must admit I love your spunk. Once black people said that you were corny, it was a wrap as we majorly decide what’s hot and what isn’t. You Ms. Azelea certainly are not.

The main reason why Iggy is in this situation is because she canceled her tour because of low ticket sales. The money from tours is currently the surest way for artists to pay for the production of their album. And it ain’t like the first album sold well anyways. Who in their damn rabbit mind thought that you could sell out an arena tour? You had ONE #1 hit single where your feature is the songs highlight!

Last but not least, you are corny as hell. Steve Urkel has more natural swag than you. When every black rapper was making fun you, you don’t go on Twitter and cry about it! That’s the least hip-hop thing to do which is to whine about being mistreated. Black people get mistreated every day for no reason, you’re getting heat cause your lame.

Now I must admit, the production on your songs are fire! I’m not sure you have any say in the creative process of your music (probably not considering the monster the music industry is), but they were perfectly crafted bangers. YOU personally couldn’t sell them. Simply put, you didn’t have the swag the kids now admire.

      Omg ALL TRUTH! All! TRUTH!

Iggy child please, smh! Girl you knew this album never had an actual release date and depended heavily on the performance of the last few singles that flopped! Had you stayed your ass off twitter and not felt the need to “clap back” at everyone who had basic opinions about you, you would still be cracking the top 40 because you had everything america was looking for at the time. Rumor also had it you were already becoming a “Diva”. Really girl!? But good luck with modeling, because at this point it would take millions to reverse your childish antics, and you’re most certainly not worth that, bye child!

Tbh it should’ve never been pushed back in the first place. Nobody is checking for her anymore.

Still rooting for Igz. We need more female MCs in the game

    • fr3sssh2deathhh June 2, 2017

We need to support more black female rappers and stop scapegoat the lone white one. Like why is Iggy to second most successful to Nicki? Issa joke! I realize if other females were put on we wouldn’t have this problem.

  6. fr3sssh2deathhh June 2, 2017

We all know it was Nicki and her team who leaked the video. That’s why Swish Swish had similar lyrics with the Snow White and Biggie references and even the house beat. ?Katy wrote on iggy’s IG “I can’t wait till your video drops!” They been scheming the whole time. I been called that.

    Iggy doesn’t deserve this!
I was never a fan nor did I participate in the commotion that happened two years ago about every black person hanging her up as the poster child of today’s current “culture vulture” because I have seen her interviews before she blew up about how inspired she was by alot of black rappers and emphasized that more than the others that would take our style and run with it till they dont need it no more.
    *Side eyes Miley*
Tbh though I wasn’t feeling any of the singles but TEAM was good but hated the video.

You can’t defend someone and not buy their album. That is nitwit talk. If you won’t buy her album why should anyone else?Records labels do not want to release albums people won’t buy.

While I can’t say I’m IGGY’S biggest fan, ore a fan for that matter… I feel for her… first, yes I do feel we should support more black female rappers, but the truth is we don’t, and they don’t even support each other these days…. even tho I’m not her biggest fan and I only know a couple of songs by her, I wouldn’t say she doesn’t deserve it, or she’s not talented is wrong, there’s talent there. Another thing, music has no color… I hate the whole that’s black music, or rock is white music… y’all all need to have several seats, music is for everyone and everyone who wants to create it…. if u think she sucks that’s fine, but we all have a right to create whatever styled music we feel like creating.

    • Jasmine June 2, 2017

It is not about style or race. It is about music sales. She has to put out a HIT single before the record label is going to release an album. The same people telling other people to “support” or “buy” her music are the same people not taking their own advice. 3 songs that flopped means that most people are just not feeling her music. Did her 1st album even do well with sales?

      • Girlbye June 2, 2017

It’s not about style or race, I only brought that up because people not only in the comment section but in life seem to mention these things… I mean she flop she flop, and so true… I’m not gonna say I bought anything of hers or Nicki Minaj … but people need to support the artists they wanna see… they keep wanting to see more black female rappers, yet don’t support them… yet when there is a non white female rapper it becomes a big thing as to why we don’t support more black female rapperd….yall need to buy albums and go to their shows lift them up and stop bashing these women,it’s already hard for women in this industry… just support eachother and stop attacking one another… like the whole remy and Nicki situation, or my girl Kim and Nicki… the three of them could eat the world if they would stop going against one another.

    Her album LEAKED!!

    • Jasmine June 2, 2017

When your album leaks and still no one is checking for it that means your relevancy expired.

      • Caleb June 6, 2017

        lol so true

  10. DanYiel Iman June 2, 2017

Sadly I’m a fan of her music ? & it sucks that all female artist aren’t allowed to shine at the same time Iggy Music is cute & its a lot better then Art Tricki Garbagh Dr Seuss Pop-Rap tones also but I guess it’s a world we’re only Tricki can spout her injected tones to other folks art to be on billboard list…??‍♂️

  11. Fact Checker June 2, 2017

Iggy is CANCELLED! She has been for at least a year everyone else has known this guess Def Jam know she now too. Poor Iggy as it seems she’s the last to know. Some of her songs are good too but it won’t make a difference. Once her Authencity was continuously discredited by more reputable artists in the industry and her thin skin to criticism was exposed, as soon as T.I. seeker distance so did the rest of the Hip Hop Community.

  12. JustCoastWitHa June 2, 2017

“When ya album gon drop..Bi+ches NEVER can say!”

  13. Chile Please!!! June 2, 2017

Like I’ve said in the past……Ain’t NOBODY checking for Kangaroo Katherine! Fake ozz Country Accent that T.I. embedded in her FOH!

  14. Fancy BISH June 2, 2017

I have to address about her is she has records that appeal and I followed her during her mixtapes. However I notice how people are saying she needs a record that’s a hit. Of course but to be honest the record business isn’t really doing much for these artists. For her to release those singles that didn’t gravitate to the general public now the album isn’t going to be released well I think she needs to move on to another label. Her debut album is solid. But I think the innovative direction is lacking because for her to deal with this is messed up. And these comments…………..well I need for people to realize you go and support these artists by purchasing their albums. And for female rappers not getting enough support that’s how I’m thankful I got exposed to Missy Elliott, Lil Kim, Eve, Da Brat, MC Lyte, Queen Latifah, and the rest. Those are black female rappers that paved the way and inspired artists to take charge and innovation. No matter what your background is I definitely know records impact others. That is honest but I notice how people are frustrated how things are now but people have to support.
