Sevyn Streeter Visits ‘The Breakfast Club’ / Talks Depression, Colorism, & Status Of Chris Brown Relationship

Published: Monday 17th Jul 2017 by Sam

Sevyn Streeter recently released her debut album, ‘Girl Disrupted.’ Yet, it turns out the title had scary and unintended parallels to what was going on in her personal life.

During a visit to ‘The Breakfast Club’ today, the 31-year-old waxed honest about the deep depression that had her contemplating suicide.

She also didn’t shy away when questioned about her experiences of colorism in the music industry nor the status of her working relationship with Chris Brown. The latter was especially fascinating, as she said that she wasn’t sure if she was even still signed with his CBE imprint anymore.

Check out the insightful sit-down with Charlamagne, DJ Envy, and Angela Yee below…

We love us some Sevyn and are enjoying her album.

It’s great to see that she’s in a better place and even better that she’s speaking up about her struggles; because, by doing so, she could well help others. Even her peers.

As reported, sales of her album aren’t the most encouraging. However her being in a better space plus the solid critical reception to the LP,  offers her a firm foundation to spring from with her next step.

I never expected this album to sell well, but with songs like “Anything You Want”, “Ol School”, “Peace Sign”, “Soon as I get Home”, “Been a Minute”, and “Translation” she still has time to turn it around. She just needs a push from her label, and her team needs to step their game up. I’m still rooting for her.

But everyone in Rnb needs a new team and a push..the only thing theyre pushing is rappers who industry wants you to think is really that popular smh

I know that. R&B doesn’t really get played unless a white person sings it. Even Sza with all her success would be even more poppin if she was a white girl. She would be so edgy, and the mainstream would eat that s*** up.
