Zayn & Gigi Apologise For ‘Gender Fluid” Shoot

Published: Saturday 15th Jul 2017 by David

Inez and Vindooh scored praise when they joined ‘Vogue’ to release their stunning snaps of Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik.

In the shoot, the couple are showcased to the world as a “gender fluid” pair who share each other’s clothes.

Seem problematic? It does to some fans who have criticised the aforementioned parties for doing so.

Why?

Now, the couple have joined ‘Vogue’ to release the following statement:

The story was intended to highlight the impact the gender-fluid, non-binary communities have had on fashion and culture.

We are very sorry the story did not correctly reflect that spirit – we missed the mark.

We do look forward to continuing the conversation with greater sensitivity.

What do you make of the drama?

I honestly don’t see the problem with what they do or the statement. I feel like people who are mad are reaching.

I meaaann, in this instance, they’re not completely wrong. I blame Vogue. I don’t get how them wearing each others clothes make them good examples of gender fluidity… Apparently them swapping t shirts has something to do with gender fluidity. I’m still trying to figure out why certain people are always used as representation for other people. I personally dislike when we praise people for “embracing” concepts, identities, and cultures that they aren’t even a part of. These fake woke people will try to popularize and vulgurize things they don’t understand but won’t hire an actual gender fluid person to do it. Then they’ll go on about how these people are “breaking barriers” and that they embrace it. Like we care. As if their approval somehow validates our lives and lifestyles. And I’m not particularly speaking about this situation. This happens far too often in general where actual members of a community aren’t hired to represent themselves.
