Janet Jackson Channels ‘The Velvet Rope’ For ‘State Of The World Tour’ Promo

Published: Wednesday 6th Sep 2017 by TGJ Staff

Janet Jackson’s ‘State Of The World Tour’ kicks off tomorrow in Lafayette, Louisiana!

Serving a surge of excitement to fans, the superstar shared a thirty-second clip to further amplify buzz for the shows – her first concert series since 2015’s ‘Unbreakable.’

In the clip, the mother-of-one quotes a powerful line from one of her famous eras, ‘The Velvet Rope.’ She wrote:

“You must remember that you were born with blood of Kings & Queens and can’t be stopped, stay strong…”

We also see a new headshot of the Pop royal. Glazed over in an earthy red filter, the ‘Rhythm Nation’ singer sports a slicked back hairstyle and a much more chiseled face. She certainly worked her hardest shed the weight put on pregnant with her now 8-month old son Eissa.

Watch the teaser below…

The video was an ace touch ahead of tomorrow’s kick-off.

Unlike previous eras, this trek isn’t being launched on the back of a new album. At least, as at writing. So one has to wonder whether this retrospective promo hints at a nostalgic, themed setlist. The answer awaits tomorrow.

The 56-date tour will run through until December 17th in Atlanta, GA.

Janet is One of Beyonces BIGGEST inspirations, you saw her already at the unbreakable tour… with blue… in the audience.. taking notes. Beyoncé would never???? Beyoncé has always(ring the alarm)!!! She loves Janet and has used her s*** many times. Don’t use janeys student to shade Janet dear

Why do you talk to these retarded kids? They need to be medicated; they’re so slow it’s impossible for them to see that they were tricked. They’ve been neglected and abused that Beyonce is their only way out. There is some kind of connection. Trust me, I see all through this trickery, and it’s sad. Mathew tears…..

That’s laughable. If it’s one artist that won’t resort to exhausting us with artistic creations from the past, it’s Janet! RN and SOTW are very relevant themes that just so happen to still speak of the times where living in today! That’s simply a testament to the significance of Janet’s messages in her work. Janet won’t simply rehash anything that’s been covered on her albums, if anything she’ll further expound on it!

@Royalkev Pass the tea! Even when I first heard the new tour name, i got chills, even though the song is old, its still RelevenT!! Timeless is Janet, and so is her music.

I’m going to need you to know when to use “to”, “too” and “two” before you start coming for legends. Why do we have to put down our legends to make room for the next superstars? There is room for them all, but what is sad is I only see this done with Black artists! Damn! All the work she put in and the paths she made for others and all you can say is she is washed up? Let’s come to your job in 20 years and start screaming out how washed up you are and see how you like it. GTFOH.

I know JDJ will be setting that stage on fire! Janet’s playing games and being so damn mysterious, but I can’t wait to find out all the answers to my questions tomorrow! I will see her shortly after opening night! Slay Empress!

Wtf does Beyonce have to do with Janet. Janet don’t have s*** to prove she been there and done that. Let’s just hope that Bey has the longevity like Janet has (which I’m sure she will) but let’s be honest Beyonce is a biter and she’s not authentic. She steals from everyone actin like she created it. It’s almost like Nicki Minaj swagger jackin’ Lil Kim while style??‍♂️

Beyonce never brought anything new to the table. I totally agree. Although she is very hard working and has earned her spot. Personally she does nothing for me. At least she has had a vast improvement when it comes to “creativity” with her last approach of concept albums. That was a great move. But hey Taylor Swift definitely brings NOTHING and look where she is now in America. Basic times.

I’m seeing my first SOTW show in Arkansas, but I swear this 24 hours is the longest ever, lol. This is my favorite of the tour teasers. I hope the rumors of a Netflix documentary are true…

I’m excited for Janet! Some of these people from this current don’t appreciate certain artist. It’s about connecting with people. Janet is still relevant whether these kids admit it or not. I’m ready for her to slay!
