MTV TRL Revival: Ed Sheeran & Migos To Perform On Premiere

Published: Monday 25th Sep 2017 by Sam

It feels like just yesterday that MTV announced the return of TRL – and now its premiere is quite literally around the corner.

October 2nd brings with it the launch of the show’s next chapter and the network playing no games with its line-up. Because they’ve tapped two of music’s most notable acts.

Details below…

Today, producers announced that both Ed Sheeran and Migos will be helping to kick off the new era of TRL with electrifying performances.

Beyond its first show, TRL will air live weekdays at 3:30 pm ET from MTV’s iconic Times Square studio in New York City..

Moving away from the one-host approach established by Carson Daly, the new incarnation will anchor rapper-actor D.C. Young Fly as the main host who will be joined by a “squad” comprised of: Tamara Dhia, Amy Pham, Erik Zachary, Lawrence Jackson, Liza Koshy and The Dolan Twins.

So how does this version plan to live up to the show’s legendary legacy, while bringing something new and engaging an audience who consume much in a very different way?

The promise is that TRL re-loaded “will integrate linear, social and digital elements and bring teen passion points to life, while continuing to incorporate audience requests.”

Will you be watching on October 2nd?

Some of the most iconic moments happened on the first iteration of TRL and there is such a nostalgia for that time, but i don’t think this show will come anywhere near the popularity of the original. That being said…I’m no longer a teenager and maybe they will be interested in this. Good luck to them….i always wanted to be an MTV VJ when i was younger and had the biggest crush on Quddus.
