Tamar Braxton is gearing up to release her fifth album ‘Blue Bird Of Happiness’ on September 29th and has been igniting excitement all week on social media.
Today though, she threw a spanner in the works by making a dramatic announcement relating to her future as an artist.

In a social media post promoting the LP, the 40-year-old declared the set will be her “BEST AND LAST.”
Could this really be Tamar’s last album?
It’s plausible.
After all, Ms. She, Me, Her tends to have her hands in many other pots beyond music.
That said, this could easily be a smart marketing play to drum up more interest.

Records aint selling like they use to
I doubt (and hope) it’s not really her LAST album. Likely a promotional tactic. Many artists have pulled that lil “last album/last hurrah” promo trick, before. But I wouldn’t blame her if true. Records really ain’t selling like they used to, especially R&B. PLUS she does have a lot of OTHER shyt going on to concern herself with.. She may want to focus all her attention on her upcoming new talk show that she’s developing w/ Steve Harvey. That should be big for her. And both her reality shows (that she also is producer for) are very successful, & still the top rated shows on their network. She may want to venture into other avenues. And she still has her clothing line. So music is really just something else she was doing….not her main thing or her main check. Fr Fr. I love her music tho, she hardly disappoints musically so I def don’t want her to stop slaying records.

…just like “retired” Toni said 2010 was her last album, than dropped a lead single today. Btw, Toni Braxton said she “retired” too…two albums ago.
Tamar is not the type of artist that can sell millions of her music. She should get back with Toni and do back-up, and continue to do reality TV.

Uh, nobody is really the type of artist to sell ‘millions’ in music, anymore. LOL. Tbh. Even Toni. Unlessss you are white, POP; Adele, Taylor, Rihanna, Nicki — who are among the select chosen few, who can. Everybody else ain’t. Especially R&B. Tamar gets more success outside of music.

There are quite a few artists that can sale records.. R&b artists need crossover hits, promo & etc to do it.. They also need hits on contemporary urban radio. And they don’t even really play r&b music anymore….
Only mainstream/crossover artists are selling like anything. It’s been that way for years. Sad, but true. There’s only an elite handful class that’s really doing impressive numbers on the charts or making real moves. The usual suspects.
Tamar’s been one of the few artists staying true to R&B and trying to keep R&B alive, forreal. Even tho it ain’t been selling like nothing. I do think she needs to try to go mainstream/crossover appeal….her voice suits POP genre very well. Her voice is very clean and “pop-ish”. Lol
@Kaz Tamar’s age is a problem for Pop. You are forgetting that it is a package deal in the industry…talent+looks+youth+extra bonus if you can dance. Tamar has vocal talent but that is it. She is too old to crossover and that muppet face she keeps getting surgically altered is not attractive.

She didn’t say she was retiring from music, but that she would not be releasing any more albums. Selling music in album format is making less and less sense as time goes by. Freeing herself from the album format gives her the opportunity to release music whenever she sees fit — singles here and there, maybe the occasional EP. If I am reading the right message into her post, this is a wise decision.
