Cheating the Charts? Post Malone Accused Of Stealing #1 From Cardi B

Published: Thursday 19th Oct 2017 by David

Cardi B fans are up in arms after learning that her smash hit ‘Bodak Yellow’ was knocked from #1 by a song which may have “cheated” its way to the position.

Details below…

‘Bodak’ was on its way to spending its fourth way at #1 when it booted from the position by Post Malone’s ‘Rockstar.’

Why thousands of Cardi fans are enraged?

Swelling claims that Cardi would still be #1 if not for an alleged scam employed by Mr. Malone.

Fader reports…

Part of that song’s chart success comes from a YouTube video uploaded in September by Post’s label, Republic Records, that features the chorus on a loop for 3:38, which is the same amount of time as the full song. This video doesn’t feature any of the song’s verses or 21 Savage’s guest verse either. In the video’s bio, there’s a link that sends viewers to the streaming service of their choice to listen to the full song. The looped clip currently has over 41 million views and is roughly averaging more than a million views per day. According to a person familiar with the situation, a view of the video counts for the charts in the same way that a view on a remix of an instrumental track would.

Reps for Malone’s label are yet to respond to the allegation as industry insiders fear stories like these will become commonplace once YouTube streams count towards Billboard 200 chart positions.

  12. Sia October 19, 2017

    THEY BOTH USED PAYOLA!!

  13. Jasmine October 19, 2017

They should not be counting youtube streams in the first place! Youtube is FREE! No free streams should be included. If people did not pay to listen then there is nothing to count! Billboard is wrong for that because they are supposed to be tracking SALES and not the amount of times a song is clicked on for free. Any savy computer programmer can create a program that will automatically click on a song millions of times a day so counting that is RIDICULOUS!

    • ??? October 19, 2017

lol but streaming helped corni get to #1 so whats the difference lol

    • Electrikblue October 19, 2017

      YouTube Red is not free.

I know they didn’t think Bodak Yellow would be #1 forever. Although I must admit.. this Post Malone song isn’t #1 material. But what is these days ??

  15. LiLi’n’RiRi October 19, 2017

Don’t get salty because Austin’s team came up with a better marketing strategy than Bardi Yellow

  16. JoeJoe October 20, 2017

Who cares? The charts these days are all comprised of scams and schemes to get songs to no.1. It’s kind of like in the 90s when Mariah and J. Ho were using Payola to make sure radio stations played their songs a certain amount of times throughout the day. Cardi and her team went on a campaign and told people to go stream, request, and do this and that to get to Bodak Yellow to no.1.

Billboard is doing too much these days.
