Chrisette Michele Reveals She Has Been Dropped By Label / Vents On Social Media

Published: Saturday 28th Oct 2017 by Sam

“They dropped me.”

These are the words of Chrisette Michele, who has announced that she’s been let go by her record label – just days after releasing a new single.

Doing away with the silence most artists greet said news with, she took to social media to not only reveal her predicament, but to vent about it too.

And let’s just say that she’s making a direct correlation with the backlash she received for performing at Donald Trump‘s inauguration.

Her words below…

Via Chrisette Michele:

If social media wanted to pull me down, I guess they succeeded as it pertains to Capitol & Caroline records.

I complete an entire album and my label decides to walk away from me. Capitol records. I was quiet for a few days… I go into the studio and literally poured out my heart and soul and the label decides to walk away from me?

It’s one thing to be a strong black woman, it’s another thing to be a strong black woman who has to fight against the worst odds. I went from someone being revered and loved to facing putting out an album in the worst climate of my musical career.

No victims here. I get it…. But absolutely human here. How hard can you try to break someone? How hard can you try to ruin someone? How much hate do you need to spew to show me you want to see my demise?

It’s anyone’s guess why the label axed her, but surely we’re not the only one’s surprised that she’s surprised about her public standing?

In taking “that” gig, she immediately ostracised herself from a significant portion of her own audience and angered them in the process. She’s entitled to do as she chooses, but the fact is that there are ramifications attached to that. And it appears as if she’s discovering that now.

Your thoughts?

Girl please you should’ve thought about that when you were singing for trump.
That really wasn’t a good look.

    • Fancy BISH October 28, 2017

Thank you! She should go sit with the good sis Iyanla lol *Eats Cinnamon Toast Crunch* *SMACKS*

  2. TruthHurts October 28, 2017

Girl, give Trump a call and see if he has a job waiting on his political cabinet for you. Hope you didn’t spend all those coins you got for performing for him at the inauguration in one place! ??

  3. Meme October 28, 2017

I hope them few coins she was paid was worth it.

  4. Hazel ann October 28, 2017

This is what happen, when we feel we to big for our own shadow. No sympathy here. Let trump hire you now.

  5. Achooo! October 28, 2017

Chrisette is very talented. I loved her first two albums. I thought she was an independent artist with her own label RichHipster.

    • Dev October 28, 2017

So did i. Maybe this was a distribution deal with Capitol & Caroline Labels. Anyway, if this is the case pull those coins together, go on tour and sell your album at venues.

      • Achooo! October 28, 2017

        I agree

  6. China October 28, 2017

Sold your soul to SATAN and now want to cry over spilled milk? Next time before performing for a RACIST maybe you should fall back………..BYE GIRL.

    • Patthepuss October 28, 2017

      That’s an insult to Satan.

  7. MUSICHEAD October 28, 2017

She really didn’t believe us when we told her she was canceled. This is a clear example of someone who is delusional. She thought she was a bigger and more important artist than she ever really was. She has no one to blame for the state of her career but herself.

  8. TJ October 28, 2017

I get her pain right now, but people tried to tell her. I recall her saying her family tried. But she meant she was performing. Okay.

People meant they were not supporting her decision.

  9. Dev October 28, 2017

Ahh, just went on her twitter page and there is a lot more to this story and it seems that there were a series of personal events in her life that are good for on-one regardless of singing for a deadass orange man with no morals.

  10. Haters Gon’ Hate October 28, 2017

I CANNOT – with this child. This is business 101. So she sings for Trump, alienates her core PAYING & STREAMING black audience and is surprised when the label drop her because they realise they will not make a return on their investment because the public is not checking for her music so the label are better off cutting their losses.

Girl – carry on singing by all means – but find another career and purpose in life because you just disrespected your customers and they ain’t coming back.

    In today’s (C**n chronicles) when c**ning back fire’s.

She gets dropped, and Tina’s tour was canceled because of low ticket sales. I’m sorry, but I can’t help but snicker at these two fools. Hey, maybe their massa Trump will help them out.

  12. Paulo October 28, 2017

… meanwhile Tina Campbell still booked when she actually endorsed Trump. This is stupid if her allegations are true. But capitol been a crap label for quite some time now.

    • Yes October 28, 2017

Tina’s aka “Penny wise”, tour has been canceled because of low ticket sales, so she’s feeling the burn as well. And I also heard those album sales were to low to call.

      • Bam October 28, 2017

        Lol Pennywise!!!! LMFAO! I’m done.

      • Fancy BISH October 29, 2017

        LOL

    • Xoxo October 28, 2017

Tina Campbell is booked where?? That’s not what I heard ?

  13. @Nate October 28, 2017

In this social media age, careers are dying back to back. The only reason for someone like her to sing for Trump is to crossover to that audience, to then put out a song called Strong Black Woman? Girl is confused.. Either way, she cancelled.

  14. Jasmine October 28, 2017

She is fake and stupid. Notice how she promoted her new single ‘Strong Black Woman’ three times in that statement. I see right though that fake heffer.

  15. alix lerner October 28, 2017

I mean no one is really after you like that girl but, actions have consequences and banmmm you got a big one boo

  16. Ms P October 28, 2017

Maybe she can call Trump and build that bridge I will never show her support karma is a b

  17. Ajax October 28, 2017

Swallow what you cooked, no pittty for you.

  18. Angie j October 28, 2017

Not all money is good money. Next time say no to racists. Your manager let you take a rotten gig.

  19. Rome October 28, 2017

Well said. I was a huge fan until she took that gig. I’m not going to drag her down or say mean things. I just simply cleared my iTunes library from all of her music and I no longer want anything to do with her or her music. Good luck sis.

  20. Whoops October 28, 2017

Cry me a rivaaaaaa. BISH! take your pity party to Mar a lago. I mean.. the White House. We don’t wanna hear about these “odds” against you when you are the one who stacked them. What’s the point of venting to us you got dropped? Are we supposed to be moved or something? We care not, girl.

  21. DanYiel Iman October 28, 2017

Wow & I like her soulful sound!!

  22. Kendrick Slaymar October 28, 2017

People love to lay blame on others and that’s part of what’s wrong with our society. it’s never OUR fault, it’s always someone else’s fault. Also, why is she ENTITLED to fan support? If she does something they don’t like, they have every right to voice their displeasure and not support her. She’s not entitled to lifelong support no matter what she does. She brought this on herself, she needs to learn to put her big girl pants on and deal with any underlying mental issues she may have, get professional help and move on with her life and stop trying to blame other people, especially her own fans, for everything that goes wrong in her life.

  23. Xoxo October 28, 2017

#TrumpEffect y’all are going to learn the hard way that anything that comes close to this man turns to sh$t. Sorry I don’t feel bad. Maybe call Trump for the hookup? Hope that gig was worth it ✌?

  24. Caleb October 28, 2017

Waiting for that one fool to show up and start venting about how Chrisette is being victimized by ‘sjws.’

  25. Tom Johnson October 28, 2017

When so called racist white people exclude blacks from participation in financial opportunities in government, we scream racism, here a so called racist gives a black person an opportunity and she is pilloried for taking it? Now if in all minority contracts, Trump could say he is excluding blacks to save the blacks from themselves and the hatred they would endure from their own.

  26. BeKura October 28, 2017

Shes is human. She is a singer, she sang….at the wrong place but that’s all sge did. She never said she supported him….she went to work like most of us do, and would have done. I still love her and axing her is a huge mistake….white folks won twice, we should be ashamed.

  27. Fact Checker October 29, 2017

Girl BYE! ?? Moral of the Story: All Money Ain’t Good Money! Should’ve reconsidered that gig but instead you chose to cross the line drawn in the sand for what? To end up on the same CANCELLED LIST as Tina Campbell.

  28. Paul K Draw January 4, 2018

In Nazi Germany , the partisans would have done more than cancel her recording contract. Sleep with a racist rabid dog and you deserve EVERYTHING that comes with it. You made your choice and BLACK America has made their’s. Tell “Massa” Trump how the mean “negros” are treating you. Hollar at Ben Carson.
