Lady Gaga’s ‘Joanne’ Album Officially Certified Platinum

Published: Monday 23rd Oct 2017 by Sam

Lady Gaga kicked off the year in winning form and is closing it in much the same way.

For, the superstar’s latest album ‘Joanne’ has just hit a major milestone.

Full story below…

Taking to social media, Mother Monster revealed that the LP – released October 21st 2016 – has officially been certified Platinum in the US.

The feat salutes the moving of 1 million equivalent sales + streaming units Stateside.

Gaga achieved said status after a gargantuan promotional push, which has played out over the year.

Indeed, she launched the LP with several TV performances, headlined the 2017 Super Bowl and set sail on a global tour. More recently, she released a Netflix documentary – entitled ‘Lady Gaga: Five Foot Two’ – which chronicled the creation of her album and invited the masses into her world, up close and personal. The latter proved successful and boosted ‘Joanne’s charting worldwide.

Interestingly, the Platinum plaque is Gaga’s first since 2011’s ‘Born This Way’ – although polarizer ‘ARTPOP’ almost certainly qualifies when factoring in streaming.

***********

We’ve long said this; but while ‘Joanne’ may not be the album the masses wanted from Gaga, it was the project she perhaps needed at the time. Specifically from the standpoint of rehabilitating her public persona and re-affirming that she is much more than shock and awe.

Holistically, the era has delivered some of her most memorable moments and has placed her in solid stead to come back even harder with her next swing of the bat. We’re hoping for more Pop bops ala her earlier run. But for now, congrats are in orde.r

So we’re supposed to be impressed by “Nearly 600k?” LOL!

Nearly 600k and she did superbowl????

    • JOHNVIDAL October 24, 2017

600k is sadly very good nowadays. have you seen charts and sales in 2017? Especially for music that didn´t generate hits and that meant a big change of direction for her potential audience.

Must’ve been mainly streaming because no one bought this album.

Congrats. I just love how GAga and Riri both turned their eras around. Both ladies had all the odds against them and many prematurely calling their eras. They traded in the conventional hits for something new and both turned out epic. Love them

      Please don’t compare Rihanna’s situation to Gaga’s cause child….

      • DanYiel Iman October 24, 2017

Especially when her flat off key vocals are of discussion!! ✌??

    • JOHNVIDAL October 24, 2017

Don´t comapre it. Gaga did it based on talent and a real change of direction and having hating people against her like no other. Rihanna´s team says she changes but she doesn´t and the thing only could survive due to another long running hit single. It´s different.

  6. DanYiel Iman October 24, 2017

    Oh ok ??

  7. AdrianL October 24, 2017

Yeah, right. How many copies did that s*** actually SCAN? Hmmm. Methinks this is a cloak & dagger certification based more on backhanded trickery than anything else.

  8. JOHNVIDAL October 24, 2017

No TGJ. I don´t want more pop bops as in her early career. I want a real artist songs, like she has been giving lately. Why the need for more basic content? I don´t get it.
Anyway, she did great for the era. Talent prevailed and that´s always good news. And she really had trolls against her like no other. Others give up, She didn´t.
She looks great in that ensemble btw.

Congratulations! Her best album, closely tied with Born This Way.
