Mary J. Blige Covers ESSENCE Magazine

Published: Tuesday 17th Oct 2017 by Sam

“Love is the only way. You can hate yourself while someone else is saying, ‘You can’t. You won’t. You never will.’

These are the words of a certain Mary J, Blige in her feature spread in November’s ESSENCE magazine.

The Queen of Hip-Hop/Soul covers the publication in support of current album ‘The Strength of A Woman’ and new Netflix movie ‘Mudbound.’

Due on the streaming service November 17th, the flick explores racial division in post World War II Mississippi.

Hotly tipped for Oscar glory, you can check out the trailer by clicking here.

We’re totally here for MJB making her mark in multiple arenas. She’s long established herself as an insurmountable force; hence it’s awesome to see her working it (and werking it) during this trying time (see: divorce).

It’s so funny you losers were shading Mary J Blige because she rejected pink who was then a nobody. Pink could sell a million first wee and she still will not have half of Mary’s acclaim. She is the Queen of Hip-hop Soul, What is P!nk queen of, the dikes? Apples and oranges hunty…

What is wrong with some of you, I don’t get it. Pink’s first performance at an open mic was Mary J. Blige’s version of “I’m going down”. She has said numerous times that Mary was her biggest inspiration and her idol. Look up clips of Mary being given an aaard she won too by Pink and how happy she was that Mary won. This is BS! Y’all just wanna make something out of nothing.

Blame your fav Pink for that. Pink is the one who started all of this nonsense!!!!

Wait. What happened with Pink?! Wtf? I remember back in 2001 Pink would tell everyone her biggest influences were Madonna and Mary J. Blige. Now she’s talking s***?!

QUEEN! Giving “The Breakthrough” teas with this picture. Nobody can touch her. I’m happy she managed to bounce back from her career slump a couple years ago!
