Some may scoff at this as some kind of quick cash-in, but we’re here for it.

Ultimately, legacies don’t tend to extend themselves. Releases like satiate longtime fans and introduce icons like Whitney to younger audiences. And with her  being one of (if not “the”) greatest voice of all time, we have no complaints at the arrival of a collection that celebrates exactly that.

Ok at least this time it stars being interesting like in the case of other legends (normally white men bands). Unreleased live stuff with good quality is what is needed from Whitney if anything. Run to You live I have never heard. She supposedly only sang it a couple of times during the Bodyguard tour and that was it. The real crime is that we don´t seem to have too many recordings of quailty from her tours in the 80s. How is that possible? The monumental “I am Changing” performances all of them in awful quality on youtube and that´s it? One cannot understand it. Didn´t they film her tours in the 80s or what?

      • S****** Blonde October 12, 2017

I think they should release a live album with performances from the 80’s, when her voice was at its absolutely best, now that would be interesting and exciting.

      • Stephy October 12, 2017

They already released an album with her 80’s vocals performances

    • Jasmine October 12, 2017

During the 80s the technology was VHS tapes. I have seen the concert she did for the Troops on youtube (somebody converted the vhs tape to online media but the quality of that concert is probably the best you will get from that time period). In the early 90s vhs tapes continued to be the most popular technology too.

    • JOHNVIDAL October 12, 2017

They have not released unknown 80s live vocal performances Stephy. Only a few peerformances we all already knew and the few ones we know they recorded in good quality (like the troops thing Jasmine is mentioning and that happened in 1991 I believe). But I´m talking about the unbelievable force that were her performances during er first two tours in the 80s. They seem to not have recorded almost any of that? The video I gave is an example. That should be in good quality. From at least a few of the concerts or something.

Also, listen to this jewel I found:

      • Jasmine October 12, 2017

Stay on topic. Always trying to promote your favs on posts that has nothing to do with them. Desperate much?

      • JOHNVIDAL October 12, 2017

Don´t be ridiculous. Nobody is desperate about enjoting and sharing talent. Any sane person who likes Whitney Houston likes Mariah´s talent too. Life and a music blog can be used for things other than stan wars you know? I´m sure many people that visited this post clicked on this Mariah video. Same target audience. It´s not like I posted it in a Beyonce/Rihanna stan war post or anything. These type of posts are for real music fans. Chill and enjoy life. And leave your superiority complex behind. It´s time to educate oneself.

    • Jasmine October 12, 2017

You should take your own advice. You know Whitney and Mariah have nothing in common except their one duet together. Different strokes for different folks and any sane person would realize that just because one likes Whitney does not automatically mean they like Mariah or any of your favs. You are the first person to complain when people talk about Beyonce on a Mariah post so don’t be hypocritical here. Also, saying that I have a “superiority complex” is a dig at me and it is not my fault if you feel inferior. I could just as easily say you have a inferiority complex but I won’t stoop that low. I just call it like I see it. #Realism

      • JOHNVIDAL October 13, 2017

Girl are you retarded? Now I´m serious. You have a problem with people talking about music. It´s a serious condition. And yes, most people that like to talk about Whitney like to talk about Mariah. So like I said, I´m sure many people here enjoyed that video thanks to me posting it. It was only that. Once again, it is YOU who took this to anothe rplace. Only a retarded fool like you whose all priority is to keep stalking people in a music blog seems to be offended that I posted a magnificent video in this post. Get over it and enjoy life. It´s pathetic. If you got called out a while ago due to your bad attitude to others, it is not my fault. You did taht to yourself. Now it is time to move on.

      • Jasmine October 13, 2017

Nobody is stalking you. You are tired queen of yester year. I simply said stay on topic and you want to write these long narratives about why you should not stay on topic. Only an idiot assumes he knows other people’s likes and dislikes.

  8. SayWhat? October 12, 2017

What happened to Michael’s album that was released a while back?

    • june nelson October 12, 2017

It`s a compilation, on the charts at #33. I think his album was more for halloween

  9. Gee October 12, 2017

There is nothing new here just stuff we have already gotten in the past just repacked. Just another way for Clive and company to make money off of Whitney’s name.

  10. RoyalKev October 12, 2017

I’ve been craving unreleased music from Whitney! It’s a shame that this collection doesn’t contain one never heard before song! Nevertheless, I will get it for my library, despite the recycling! Do better Clive!

  11. Achooo! October 12, 2017

Throughout the years many artists record at least a thousand of songs. Clive have enough songs to release many albums of Whitney unreleased songs but instead we get rehashed of the same tired songs. #Scam

  12. The Wig Snatcher October 12, 2017

When I read “unreleased” tracks, I expected songs that were left off the soundtrack that we never got to hear. I got YouTube to see all her live versions of those songs.

    • Jasmine October 12, 2017

I agree. I suspext there is no unreleased bodyguard songs and that is the reason they were left with only 5-6 Whitney songs on the original soundtrack.

  13. Jeans October 12, 2017

    I am getting this asap

  14. Casual October 12, 2017

Why not some actual unreleased tracks? Whitney recorded for 30 years before her death. There must be at least enough leftover tracks to make an album.

  15. Samuel October 12, 2017

To all the people saying the “same songs” , these are alternate takes. The ones that did not go to radio or on the original album. The FILM Versions to those songs was never released. Run To You (Live) has never been heard at all. Neither has the acapella to “Jesus Loves Me”. So these are unreleased.

    • Jasmine October 12, 2017

That is not true. I downloaded the film versions many years ago. They are on youtube.

  16. AmbeRussell October 12, 2017

I will say this. There are 0 live performances of Run To You, so to know it will be released is kinda cool

      • Edoardo B. October 16, 2017

Sorry, but this is a fan made video (there are even some topics in the Internet regarding this attempt to make it seem a concert footage) and no live version of “Run to you”, which has been never released (and is therefore mega-rare).

  17. truthteller October 12, 2017

I wish they’d included Whitney’s version of What Becomes of the Brokenhearted, even if it was only a demo version

  18. eric October 12, 2017

Not interested. There is nothing different or unique about a “film version” or dance mix for these songs. Her greatest hits album is already full of dance mixes. I’m not supporting their cash grab.

  19. Danny LeGuen October 12, 2017

The 2nd greatest voice of all time after Mariah

    • june nelson October 12, 2017

      NO

    • Jasmine October 12, 2017

Don’t start that nonsense here. You are comparing apples to oranges. Just love both of their distinctively different voices in their primes and call it a day.

  20. Edoardo B. October 16, 2017

When I saw first saw the tracklist of “I wish you love: more from The Bodyguard” (by Whitney Houston) I could not believe this was really happening. In fact, this is NOT a simple re-release of the best-selling soundtrack of all times, but an essential addition – no, this is no contradiction too -, but an album with rare, never released live and studio recordings of legendary songs (“I will always love you”, “I have nothing” or “Run to you” to mention a few) as sung during Whitney’s vocal peak era (1993-1994). I could write so much more – for instance, “Run to you” (live) is such a rarity, which has been NEVER released/published on Youtube in 25 years -, but summing up:

The best female vocalist (alias “The Voice” Whitney Houston) + some of the most famous songs of the Nineties + unreleased studio/live recordings + an incredible price of selling = an album to be bought without any doubt.

I really can’t wait to listen to it.
