New Song: Mariah Carey – ‘Lil Snowman’

Published: Sunday 12th Nov 2017 by Rashad

In news that should come as a shock to no one, last week saw Queen of Christmas Mariah Carey recapture the #1 spot on the Billboard Holiday charts with her timeless hit, ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You.’  The tune – which still stands as the pop icon’s best-selling international single to date – was ranked by Billboard as the most popular holiday release in history.  Now, as the song restarts its usual yuletide domination, Carey’s looking to add another memorable number to her already extensive list of Christmas classics.

Titled ‘Lil Snowman,’ the 50’s-inspired cut is featured on the official soundtrack to the animated holiday film conveniently titled, ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You.’  Does it pack enough punch to stand alongside the powerhouse singer’s other holiday-flavored offerings?

I love ‘All I Want For Christmas’, ‘Oh Holy Night’, and ‘Oh Santa’, but this new song I’m not feeling. Do you like this new song?

I actually Love it! Here for the throwback vibe . Love how she did all the background vocals no need to waste coin. This could certainly become a holiday but favorite. I look forward to hearing it playing in malls and on my playlist. I hope Kelly Clarkson pushes her Wrapped in Red album again was obsessed with it! Blue is where I’ve been
    Green can’t buy me you
    Silver bells remind me
    That mistletoe’s for two

    So I found a color
    That only tells the truth
    That paints a picture
Of how I feel for you

    This Christmas
    I’m gonna risk it all
    This Christmas
    I’m not afraid to fall

So I’m at your door with nothing more
    Than words I’ve never said
In all this white, you’ll see me like
    You’ve never seen me yeah
    Wrapped in red (ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh)
    ???happy Christmas time everyone!

It’s cute for what it’s for (soundtrack to a kiddie animated movie)

You can not deny MC’s genius as a songwriter this is a perfect bop for her animated movie and a fun song for kids. Also I love and appreciate the 50’s vibe with the production.

Perfect for the film it belongs to. Mariah´s musicality can really be used for anything. A different story is that she has her urban personal preferences and is determined to stay there I suppose.

I was thinking that, while Christmas music is not for me, this is a bit different, she’s wasting her versatility like Madonna.

      • JOHNVIDAL November 13, 2017

Madonna is not interested in making new music like that anymore. We have to accept it. I think it happens the same to Mariah… some days. Some other days I think she still has ambition with the right team to release bodies of work, music. But I don´t know. The fact thet they know the appeal of buying albums is gone (except 5 exceptions or so) probably doesn´t help either.
