SZA Teases ‘The Weekend’ Video [Directed By Solange]

Published: Tuesday 14th Nov 2017 by Sam

SZA has trailblazed  like few others this year and its largely thanks to her dynamite debut ‘CTRL.’

The critically acclaimed set, which was recently certified Gold, has resonated with many thanks to its sonically soothing production and hard-hitting lyrics.

For many, cutting edge confessional ‘The Weekend’ serves as one of its brightest shining gems. With the LP having already spurned several visuals, next up is this fan favorite.

Fellow songbird Solange has tapped to direct the video. And it looks like it’s coming soon.

SZA took to social media to tease the clip. Head below to see how it’s shaping up…

This girl campaign is all over the place. The way they release her singles and videos are so catastrophic. No strategic plan, or regard for what the public wanted.

I agree with you. It feels like they are rushing her out there without a plan that benefits her but with a plan that benefits the powers that be (TDE and the music industry trying to quickly makeup for the lack of black female mainstream singers). Remember when SZA stated that TDE, her record company, stole her hard drive and compiled the CD without her input? SZA said her CD would have sounded a whole lot different if she was involved. I think the whole “woke” movement of us black women are causing record labels to want to capitalize on it for monetary gain. If the BLM and natural hair/authentic self movement wasn’t taking over, SZA wouldn’t exist in mainstream. SZA even knew this when she publicly quit music a while back.

It also seems to me that the industry is trying to make Solange the princess maker of black indie soul music (Eryka & Jill are the queens). She’s appointing who’s next. She’s taking an active role lately in introducing already well know underground black artists (Kelela and others) and now she’s making SZA’s video. This could help or back fire. I’m afraid that new black female artists are going to have to be approved by Solange and Beyonce before they can be heard in the mainstream music scene. I’m afraid they’ll owe their careers to them instead of themselves, be used for the Knowles’ gain (this could be scary in the scense that they’ll end up picking singers that they deem won’t pose a threat to their legacies), and other artists that would be competition for the Knowles won’t get the mainstream recognition they deserve.

You think to much, even record labels knew Nicki needed competition

I love Solange’s aesthetic but i’m not sure if this style fits the song. I look forward to the full video
