Taylor Swift’s ‘Reputation’ Has Already Sold Over 400,000…In Pre-orders Alone

Published: Sunday 5th Nov 2017 by Rashad

Taylor Swift‘s new album ‘Reputation’ does not officially arrive in stores until November 10th yet reports have indicated it’s already laying claim to the title of “best first week sales by a female” for the year.

That’s right, the set – which features the top 20 singles ‘Gorgeous,’ ‘Ready for It,’ and the #1 hit ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ – is looking to have a very impressive liftoff if reports are to be believed.

Details inside:

Pre-orders for Taylor Swift’s “reputation” have reached more than 400,000 units and the album has become Target’s biggest music pre-sale of all-time.

Big Machine Records told The Associated Press on Friday that pre-orders for Reputation, to be released Nov. 10, are double the number of pre-orders for Swift’s 1989 album a week before its release in 2014.

The pre-order number includes purchases at iTunes, Target, Walmart, Amazon and Swift’s website. Target also confirmed Friday that Reputation is its largest music pre-sale ever. [source]

As her last three albums – ‘1989′ (2014), Red’ (2012) and ‘Speak Now’ (2010) – all sold 1 million copies in their first week of availability respectively, Swift could be well on her way to extending that historic record by making ‘Reputation’ the fourth.

While we await news on that, what we can say with certainty is that Taylor has not only already bested Pink‘s ‘Beautiful Trauma’ for the year’s best first week sales by a female, but also the year’s best first week (pure) sales overall.  The pure sales record was also held by Pink, who saw her last album top the charts with 384,000 pure sales.  Click here to read more on that.

Yay she puts out mediocre music and can’t perform for sh*+ but she’s rewarded handsomely for it. When will people start demanding better?…

    • DanYiel Iman November 6, 2017

Ok ?? her tones aren’t even that glorious to hear, she won’t receive my funds , I haven’t liked one song she hums!!! ??‍♂️

      • Faf November 6, 2017

Ok but she writes and plays her songs

Mediocre is a stretch it may be stupid to u but her metaphors and story telling ability to make anything a hit is a gift

  3. Brent Christopher November 6, 2017

cant stand her. I am not excited for her surface “success”. she represent white privilege in its most raw and realistic form. she is half the talent of other female artists who SHOULD be pushing these numbers authentically. its disgusting how the industry gets behind this c*** and pushes her mediocrity to the forefront.

    • Jasmine November 6, 2017

I don’t think it is white priviledge. I think it is lack of competition. If the industry had a young Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, or Madonna around then Taylor’s sales would not be as high. The type of people buying Taylor music have always been around and they are loyal because they identitify with Taylor. The only way minority artists are going to get money from those type of people is by outshining Taylor’s music with pure talent like minority superstar artists have always done in the past.

      • RealNegro November 6, 2017

Sums up white privilege to me. Your post that is. Why should minorities have to work harder for the exact same things afforded by white America. I can somewhat understand Adeles success, but Taylor’s not so much. Her music is safe and innocent with a sprinkle of victim here and there by the bullies of the industry(black people and weirdos). America rewards that! I want to see how many Grammy s she get this time around.

      • binx November 6, 2017

You say it’s not white privilege then go on to describe white privilege?

      • CAMITYRE November 6, 2017

        Have you heard of beyonce?

      • JOHNVIDAL November 6, 2017

I don´t think it is just white privilege either. There are tons of better white artists that quickly get hurt by bad press too for example. However, she never seems to lose. Her mediocrity being so successful (in America) is not normal. It´s true there´s lack of competition. It´s the same reason why Beyonce could get so many basic grammys in the 00s in the R&B field. But in Taylor´s case, it is something else. People are absolutely retarded or something. Not even Britney´s hype machine lasted this long (this long at full force). When people used to have this “monumental” success (not quite as big, though. That´s Adele) it was because either the music or the talent shown was memorable and irreplaceable. Michael, Bruce, Whitney, mariah, Celine and so on. Now, this is just not right.

      • Kelly November 6, 2017

        @JOHNVIDAL.so you’re labeling R&B Grammys as basic???

      • RihUp November 6, 2017

Kelly, ignore John Vidal, he’s a c00n. He’s the one who irons S****** Blondes white sheets for his K.K.K meetings lol.

      • Jasmine November 6, 2017

@RealNegro You are confusing being spending habits with being “afforded” with something. You have to look at the root issues of black people not spending money to support black artists. White people spend money on people they can identify with and pure talent. White people do not identify with black artists by default so if a minority artist wants their money they have to be supertalented. You are race baiting here. One could easily say Taylor’s sells are down because not enough minorities are buying her music. If more minorities bought Taylor music then her sales would double. See how this works? It has nothing to do with “white priveledge” but everything to do with white people spending more money on music than minorities do.

Basic black artists would sell if black consumers excerised the same amount of loyalty when it comes to spending their money on artists they identify with like white people do. Black people whining about why white people don’t support their music is idiotic and race baiting. You should be complaining about lack of support from black consumers.

      • JOHNVIDAL November 6, 2017

Kelly shup up please. Thsoe weren´t basic because they were R&B. Those were mediocre because they pretty much created tons of new R&B categories to perfectly fit her agenda. Categories that don´t even exist anymore, and didn´t exist before the 00s. mShe had it easier grammys wise than any other big artist until that point. That was the point of my comment. She sure wasn´t winning the main categories, which R&B people had won before her. She was very lucky for the lack of competition during the 00s. That´s all. That was the comparison with Taylor Swift´s lack of big competition. But that said, and like I said in my first comment. The Taylor case is definitely not normal and is more unfair. It´s not normal that someone SO basic talent wise doesn´t start to see a decrease in commercial appeal after these years. It´s not normal. Music buying audience have been brainwashed by the decline that started to happen in the 00s. She is liek a biggets marketing success than Britney at this point.

    • Yes. November 6, 2017

Why do people always say it’s white privilege? When a white act sells well… and always compare it to black artists in white dominated countries like America. It seems that only being a success in a white dominated county only is seen as a success. Do white people moan when white acts don’t sell as well in black dominated places like Nigeria etc? Why not talk about black artists selling well in black dominated places?

      • Kelly November 6, 2017

        ?@Yess/BAM, is that you?

  4. Soulbrotha November 6, 2017

Overrated…It’s time for some new pop stars to rise up.The Pop Genre is so dead rn it needs fresh faces and a new sound

  5. ka November 6, 2017

Ummm why, the new music isn’t even catching her official die hard fans, smells fishy? but quality means nothing when labels are pushing it hard towards tweens.

  6. Bish in Africa November 6, 2017

She’s only selling for being Taylor not for the music.. Tgj Diddy officially change his name why no post on that yet

    • Faf November 6, 2017

Ok the same can be said about Beyonce

    • Jasmine November 6, 2017

You are dumb. There are posts on that. Ever heard of google?

  7. LONGLIVE13 November 6, 2017

Slaying like always! Been a fan since 2007 and always will be.

  8. Weezy Tha Goat November 6, 2017

Haven’t been here in a minute.

Taylor Swift makes music for basic ass people like her. She and her label knows her audience, which is why she doesn’t try to put out better music. Her fans loves mediocrity.

    • realtalk November 6, 2017

I totally disagree! She’s CLEARLY trying she just doesn’t have it. Attempting to rap, trying to sing on the Zayn song, etc. She CLEARLY wants to be great she just doesn’t have it but what she does have is the label behind her and white privilege. White privilege in the flesh!!!! You can pick a music show and 95% of the artist on them are better singers than Taylor.

      • Jasmine November 6, 2017

@realtalk Is it black privilege when black people support a black artist they identify with? NO. Thus, it is not white privelege when white people support a white artist they identify with. This is not a racial issue. The simple truth is white people are spending money on music and minorities are NOT. Black artists ARE NOT ENTITLED to white people’s money and white people DO NOT HAVE TO BUY black music just because they are black. DROP YOUR SENSE OF ENTITLEMENT and focus on the bigger issues of why BLACK PEOPLE do not support black artists!!!!!

  9. Tim Brown November 6, 2017

Oh but people don’t buy albums anymore….

    • Jasmine November 6, 2017

Correction. Minorities do not buy albums anymore like they used to in the 90s. White people still buy albums and concert tickets.

  10. The Wig Snatcher November 6, 2017

And Taylor bought at least 300,000 of those pre orders. Next!

  11. JOHNVIDAL November 6, 2017

I am sorry but it is not normal. She is very basic and her music is NOTHING special. It just isn´t. It´s not normal that even after the few not-so-clean things she has been involved in, her image and sales are not starting to decrease. It´s not normal.

    • mrKaye November 6, 2017

      true

    • Jasmine November 6, 2017

@JOHNVIDAL If you were a teenage white girl / gay boy or middle aged white parent trying to be hip you would understand. The people that buy Taylor Swift music identify with her. Nothing new. The same thing happend with those white teenage dream artists in the 80s and 90s. The only difference back then was you had the talent of a Michael Jackson, Prince, Madonna, and Whitney outshining basis pop tarts but best believe the same thing went on back then.

  12. mr.m November 6, 2017

I can’t believe ppl buy this bish music
    can’t sing can’t perform for sh!t
the music industry is a mess lol

  13. @Nate November 6, 2017

I saw an ad on a UPS truck, so this chick is well funded. The swift impact was undeniable w/ her last eras, but this time I dont hear anybody talking bout Taylor. Hope she majorly underperforms, so some of that money can come out the budget.

  14. Achooo! November 6, 2017

I have to admit Taylor mastered getting the maximum for mediocrity. Taylor can’t sing live, can’t dance, has no rhythm, no vocal range, no stage presence and very basic juvenile lyrics. Only in America where this type of mediocrity strives. She just a average g|a|y woman. Good for her at being consistent

  15. Tokyo Vanity fan November 6, 2017

The non white equivalent to Taylor Swift is Cassie, and look where she is.

    • Shakira Stan November 6, 2017

Don’t insult Cassie, she can dance her ass off

      • Tokyo Vanity fan November 6, 2017

        Very true, I’m mistaken.

  16. S****** Blonde November 6, 2017

Those white southerners are loyal to her, that’s why she’s still doing these numbers, her fans are loyal too, there’s no more to it, whites, blacks and Hispanics buy her music, where exactly is the white privilege?…She was trashed by the medias, not even the Kardashians could destroy her power, this is simple, her fans are still buying her records, if anything this is just a reminder that Americans have bad taste in music ??‍♂️

    • Post November 6, 2017

Why are you generalizing Americans as having bad taste in music? That’s like me generalizing that Europeans smell like ass. Would that be fair, or ignorant?

      • S****** Blonde November 6, 2017

Americans make stupid people famous more than any other country in the world, they also support talentless artists over talented musicians, it’s tradition, it has always been like this, Americans have bad taste in music, Americans know this, the world knows this, why are you trying to be controversial, your comparison is stupid, and you were trying to be shady to Europeans, it was not only a comparison, it’s what you really think, save the drama for another day, I’m not in the mood for your “you’re racist” b*******.

      • Post November 6, 2017

Lol Typical. So your generalizing is ok, because that’s what you think, and feel that everyone shares your opinion. But I can’t generalize something that I feel that is justified base on my experience with Europeans? Is that right?

      • Truth teller November 6, 2017

?Actually your both right. Americans do have bad taste in music, AND, Europeans do smell like ass.

      • S****** Blonde November 6, 2017

        @Post
I can say the exact same thing about Africans in Europe, they smell like rats but I would be called racist, you could have made another comparison, it’s very different to say that Americans have bad taste in music and that Europeans smell like ass, you couldn’t be more off topic, but you get a pass because black people are allowed to offend white people, but since you want to go there, the more melanin you have, the stronger the odor, but yeah right I’m racist so you might be offended by facts.

      • Post November 6, 2017

Lol Umm, what does Africans have to do with me, i’m white. So your retort is pretty much wasted.
Now back to what we were discussing. I can use whatever generalization I choose. Now, do you feel that you can generalize, but I can’t?

      • S****** Blonde November 6, 2017

Well, you’re white, a white American I supposed, but it doesn’t matter, you could be European, your comparison was out of place, one thing is to generalize Americans and their taste in music, another thing is to generalize Europeans or any other race about their odors, it was wrong, simply as that.

      • Post November 6, 2017

So you think you can pick and choose, wrong.
And you still haven’t answered my question. Now for the 4th time, i’ll ask you again, because you seem a little slow.
Do you feel that you can generalize, but I can’t?

      • S****** Blonde November 6, 2017

No, you can’t generalize about such thing, it’s just wrong, like a said, it’s very different to generalize people and their taste in music, another thing is to generalize people and their odors, it’s just wrong.

      • Post November 6, 2017

Just like I thought. Your bloviating and subterfuge is so tiresome. Listen, don’t dish it, if you can’t take it, dumb@**.

Btw, my generalization still stands, and that is “Europeans smell like ass”. Now get to showering. I’m done with you.

      • S****** Blonde November 6, 2017

Give that advice to your family over here, I’m sure you had your firsthand experience of that strong odor in your relatives’ house while you were visiting them.

      • Jasmine November 6, 2017

I agree with Post. If you generalize other people then you should be able to take being generalized. Dont dish it if you cant take it.

  17. Bianca November 6, 2017

She sells cuz ppl like her period! I say over and over I don’t care how talented I are if nobody likes your music it won’t sell! The problem with r&b is they no longer have a platform or the networks use the same artist and if those artists aren’t available they fill the show with pop artists. If ppl would stop supporting one artist (Beyoncé or Rihanna) and comparing everyone else to them black artists would be more successful. But nope so ppl can’t really complain. Nobody supports Kelly a lot of ppl keep her in Beyoncé shadows not Fantasia I don’t know what is expected of tinashe mya just released a song n video crickets keyshia has a new album crickets I can keep going

    • soulbrotha November 6, 2017

No. people do not like Snake Swift only teens do. She sells because Kanye made he star and she has been playing the victim role ever since

  18. Jasmine November 6, 2017
