New Music: Camila Cabello – ‘Never Be The Same’ & ‘Real Friends’

Published: Thursday 7th Dec 2017 by Sam

Camila Cabello is strutting ahead to the January 12th release of her debut solo album.

Aptly christened ‘Camila,’ the set is preceded by global smash ‘Havana’ and buzz cut ‘Crying In The Club.’

Two new songs join the pre-release mix today – ‘Never Be The Same’ and ‘Real Friends.’ Both of which were made available

Clearly, Team Camila are going going for the same approach as they did with ‘Havana’ and ‘OMG.’ Drop two songs and see which naturally catches (instead of forcing a single from the get-go).

For us, ‘Real Friends’ has most appeal.

The production, though sparse, is inherently catchy. Especially when paired with the infectious melody. Lyrically, it’s arguable that she’s “going there” (see: Fifth Harmony split). Something which will be somewhat satisfying for those bored of the media-trained answers both parties have been giving since their acrimonious split last year.

Whether she has another ‘Havana’ on her hands remains to be seen. But, if she’s angling for one, ‘Real Friends’ is the best bet. It’s memorable, relatable, and serviceable for radio. Pushing this is a no brainer.

Next! Havana is the only hit!

Out of your mind. Real friends is a HIT. Don’t believe me just watch! This song will take off.

And I love how she’s not making trashy tasteless bops. She’s going for quality yet age appropriate

Umm you get a next too! She’s only good in the Latin pop lane. Anything else is some second hand Demi Love bs that will not be heard 6 months down the road. It’s just NOT a hit. Maybe a good listen for a Stan but as far as platinum plaque. Nope! She needs to stay young Latin pop where she has no real direct competition other than Becky G.

      Alllllll day!!!

  5. Ughhhh December 7, 2017

Both songs are boring but Real Friends is good for an album filler

I still don’t know how anyone can suffer this girls horrid tone. Her voice is what I do when I’m mocking people. But I think she’ll do well.

This sounds like Selena Gomez music too.
    Whatever happened to artistry.

So, apparently Ariana is trying to have a “I will always love you”, “Rolling in the deep”, “Hero” moment with her next album. An identifying song. Mariah has several. Whitney has a few. Adele has like 2, maybe 3. I hope it doesn’t disappoint. Cause I am tied of the same old same old.

Same as mine I can’t find a great tone she displays but her fools will like it…??‍♂️

Campaign on point, timing on point, visuals on point, music on point, image on point.

All the making of a successful era. I saw it coming baby girl and I am so proud of you. Now slay these haters.

    • ??? December 7, 2017

lol so what happened with her first two flops then? lmao these two wack ass songs are destined to follow suit lmao

    • Sleazy December 7, 2017

The money and the campaign is on point they pushing her more than the 5H. But lets face it sis had 3 flops before Havana and Havana is just a rip off from Same old love. She doesnt have a sound and all they doing is throwing songs out to see which one sticks

  9. Paulo December 7, 2017

eugh. I hate her even more now. damn Pisces always playing the victim and people still fall for this bs.

  10. Sleazy December 7, 2017

This girl has no originality…. CITC (sia and ed) Havana (same old love) Real friends (love yourself)

    • Totally December 7, 2017

Exactly. She’s being manufactured. All of her songs sound like rip offs.

    • Ukaszenkoo December 7, 2017

And what does Never Be The Same Sound like?
Almost every song nowadays sounds like something that was already out in the music world. You can’t keep creating new sounds for ever.

  11. Blessed December 7, 2017

This girl is beyond basic, my goodness.

  12. Davey December 7, 2017

Camila is serving. I wasn’t sure she’d make it on her own, but she is proving us all wrong. Bop after bop!
I’m here for it… just hoping for a deluxe album with more than 10 songs ?
