Nicki Minaj: “It’s A Great Time To Be A White Rapper”

Published: Sunday 17th Dec 2017 by Sam

Nicki Minaj has never been one to bite her tongue nor hide her feelings.

Yet, that didn’t stop many from raising eyebrows when she took to Instagram with an interesting observation about the hue of rappers dominating the charts.

See what we mean below…

In a post to her 84 million followers on Instagram, Onika shared shot of the current Hip-Hop Songs chart on US iTunes.

She captioned the snap:

“It’s a great time to be a White rapper in America, huh? These are the top ten rap songs on US iTunes.”

With the likes of Post Malone, Macklemore, and G-Eazy dominating the tally, it was quite clear what the femcee was trying to stress.

When cautioned by a fan to take the post down to avoid drama, an emphatic Nicki clapped back with:

The posts have since been deleted, but needless to say she went all the way…there.

What’s your take on her statements? Do you agree?

Your thoughts?

And what’s the problem with that?………Music influences everyone regardless of their race/ethnicity, black people should be proud that the music they created is listened all across the globe and inspire people from every corner of the world to sing it, instead of hating on every non-black artist who does “black music”.

You need to stop trying to tell black people what to do

That’s not what she’s trying to say….smh. But, Nicki should shut up this coming from the women who has bleached her skin.

Ikr. Kim got her pressed Chile. At first she didn’t want to do a female duet now she wants to after Remy and Kim ethered the game. Chile!!

    • Hmmm December 17, 2017

STFU. We’re not talking about inspiration…we’re talking about cultural misappropriation for the simple purpose of making money.

The problem is… whether we’re proud out not the others tend to not recognize us for our impact and instead take the s*** right from ya as if we never existed. That’s what happened to rock and jazz.

    • KING B!! December 20, 2017

I like “ white Rappers” ..I thnk their hott!!.Ill have all their babie!..

  2. Justincredible December 17, 2017

Yet she’s the first to flock to white america for clout throwing pop tart hits in the toaster yet when white males do the same it’s a problem. Never gave the culture what it needed. Always complaining when sh!t affects her.. Aww you mad cuz you still don’t have a #1 yet, sis? I want that Cash Me Outside chick to top Billboard just to prove Nicki legacy and billboard “entries” ain’t sh!t ?

  3. Tori December 17, 2017

GIRL SHUT THE F*** UP! This girl AND Remy have gotten on my last nerve this week. When you were dressing like a white woman and was at the top of the charts, it wasn’t a problem. When you had no competition and it was just Nicki as the main Female rapper, you had no problem. Now you have a problem with everything! Everytime any other rapper does anything credible, here you come posting your credits and props or giving your dry ass opinion. At least you’re on the f****** chart, be happy! Especially after all the millions of b******* singles and features you put out this year. When you had a hit this year with “Rack It Up”, none of the white rappers said anything negative, they were bumping your s***. Be grateful you lasted this long.

  4. The Wig Snatcher December 17, 2017

Nicki – STFU and put out a decent album with real hiphop music and be original for once. All this hö does is throw shade at people when she isn’t poppin’. Pîss off!

  5. TaylorDuh December 17, 2017

Love her but she’s so annoying, doesn’t like it when ppl refer to her as just a female rapper sometimes. But thinks it’s ok to say white rapper SMH. don’t know if she wanted attention or realized it wasn’t right. Bcuz she has since deleted the comment.

  6. Justincredible December 17, 2017

So the b**** complains about white dominance on the hip hop charts yet her dumb ass proclaims “I’m looking to sign a white rapper to my new label, it IS a great time to be one right now! That makes total sense now…duh. She’s a total Becky! ??‍♀️She ain’t gon sign a black female rapper out of fear they’ll outshine her wack ass too. Fraud.

    • Muggle December 17, 2017

      Hey, Handsome

  7. Lol December 17, 2017

Whenever she’s not getting enough attention she has to complain and play the “woo is me” card. Girl shut up. While I dont Like any of those ppl I’m not hating on anyone’s hustle. Always bothered by something. Just go back to dropping your weekly features and shut up.

  8. Tokyo Vanity fan December 17, 2017

White rappers suck! So do white r&b singers!

    • Carlitos December 17, 2017

No they don’t. ???? ALL rappers have their own style regardless of race, and that’s a factual statement.

    • madbrax December 17, 2017

black rappers be sucking too that’s why they ain’t in the top ten. stfu

  9. Oh puhlease December 17, 2017

    What she said is true

  10. Sweetnothings@78 December 17, 2017

Yet another racist comment. It’s okay to be black and slate white people apparently (on this site a LOT). This race thing is boring. And the more both colours create comments like this then the more prevelant the issue.

    • DS December 17, 2017

How is it racist when she’s simply pointing out the obvious? It’s not like she said white rappers are wack or that they are culture vultures that do nothing but appropriate black music for profit…

While we’re on the subject of race and music, when ya’ll gonna let another black person beside Darius Rucker become a country star? I’ll wait…

      • John L. Anderson V December 17, 2017

You know that s*** ain’t happening anytime soon. Lol.

      • madbrax December 17, 2017

never because you can’t say Ni**a this, Ni**a that in country music so not much material to work with

  11. Ciara December 17, 2017

So nobody else can do rap? Why is she bleaching her skin and appealing to white america then b**** about this s***? Maybe cause you sold yourself to get that life and now you realise what you done and now you hate on it. And in that chart there are black rappers…there are more successful black rappers…i use to LOVE her but i can barely stand her now.

  12. Mark111 December 17, 2017

Well for one it’s iTunes, which doesn’t reflect crap on the charts anymore. Spotify shows what’s popping and reflect the charts more no one BUYS singles or barely albums anymore, even Apple is going to quit music downloads in 2019.

With thay said, Nicki can shut up, she always get like this when she flops. Rap is pop now, she could have been winning of she would have made hip hop music instead of the pop/edm trash she was making when it was In. Now edm/pop is dead, like any sound that becomes mainstream, too commercial, and overused. R&B was pop from 2000 to 2006, you don’t even see a rock song chart anymore and when have country music even been in the top 40? Music will always change, styles and sounds will forever come and go.

  13. Yolanda December 17, 2017

Nicki Minaj should just keep posting semi-n*** pictures for the judge.

    • Justincredible December 17, 2017

      ????

  14. Yolanda December 17, 2017

Nicki Minaj should stop smoking them laced blunts that have her lips tweaking.

  15. Ocean December 17, 2017

she tryna be Cardi and Rihanna with the clapbacks lol

  16. Oh December 17, 2017

She is a beast in business but a fraud in identity. Clever with word play but lacks maturity.
I could take this post seriously if it were someone like Kendrick Lamar or The Roots, but Nikki girl, you walk around with these long blonde inches, claiming Barbie, not even black Barbie, just Barbie. But you want to cry this bull s*** lol
Her fans will eat this up though

  17. Kevin December 17, 2017

I agree with Nicki. It is a great time to be a white rapper. Now that they have the audience and the attention….what is their message? Partying and having a good time? Other than Em, most aren’t saying anything of importance IMO.

    • XYZ December 17, 2017

Same goes black rappers though, except Kendrick. All about p*****, alcohol, money and party. That’s not a white thing

      • DS December 17, 2017

Don’t try it. Rapsody, Common, J. Cole, Black Thought, Vic Mensa, Big K.R.I.T., Mick Jenkins, and countless others all have lyrics of substance and talk about more than partying. Stick to the vanilla bunch and don’t let such ignorance leave your mouth ever again.

“Learn something from this.” — Tyra Banks

      • DS December 17, 2017

And the list goes on…Talib Kweli, 9th Wonder, Jean Grae, Noname, Jay-Z, Killer Mike, Kamaiyah, Lecrae, Cyhi The Prince…

      • XYZ December 17, 2017

Oh, I thought we‘re talking about successful acts on top of the charts (except for Jay Z obviously)? Guess there are white rappers that talk about substance as well – as does Em, for example. But let‘s be real, what sells the most is trash. Nicki sold with trash and the armada of mumble rappers do. I don‘t want to make it a black vs. white topic, as this is done too often these days and builds a boarder that will become too hard to overcome. A thing we blame Agent Orange for, but are not better in the same place. What I am trying to say is that both sides have good and horrible rappers. And as for the majority, the big sellers are still black when it comes to rap most of the times.

      • DS December 17, 2017

Since I listed more than enough talented black rappers that disprove your ignorant statement, now you only want to talk about “successful” black rappers that have content in their lyrics… Ok

Both of J. Cole’s last two albums debuted at No. 1 on Billboard 200 and each sold over 300,000 first week. Lecrae is a double Grammy award winner and his 2014 album debuted at No. 1 on Billboard 200. Common has sold nearly 3 million albums in the U.S., has been honored with Grammys, a Golden Globe and an Oscar…. Killer Mike’s last album debuted at No. 1 on the Rap Album charts and in the Top 15 of Billboard 200…So what the hell are you talking about except Jay Z?

Oh and let’s not leave out Chance the Rapper and all of his success….

But I’m curious…who are these white rappers that “talk about substance” (with the exception of Eminem of course)? And please be sure to name some “sucessful” ones that have topped the charts, since that’s what you’ve now stitched the convo to…

        I’ll wait…

      • XYZ December 17, 2017

Logic, MKG, Yelawolf, MAC Miller, Macklemore, Mike Shinoda (from Linkin Park), beastie boys had substance. There are some. As I said, I don’t want to make this a black vs white thing.

Why I made the point with being successful was because of the charts listed above. Hell, there are definitely a lot of rappers at both sides with substance that I (we) have never heard of.

My initial point was, and that has nothing to do with skin color, that most of the current successful tracks these days are full of trash when it comes to lyrics and content. So, of course there are a lot of b******* white rappers that are successful, same goes for black rappers, but that coming from Nicki? Out of them all? She does tracks with Migos and they are seriously crap. She is just bitter that they are in front of her in the charts department.

      • DS December 17, 2017

No one is making this a “black vs white thing.” You introduced black rappers into the conversation. I’m just letting you know that you were wrong about “black rappers with the exception of Kendrick” not having substance. This whole topic is about white rappers of today and their success… of those that are “successful,” only Eminem has demonstrated any identifiable substance in his lyrics. This is not a condemnation of white rappers, it’s merely an observation of what’s occurring.

        AND… Just for clarification:

        1) Logic is not white–he’s biracial. 2) Mike Shinoda is not white–he’s Asian American. 3) Neither MGK nor Yelawolf has had any chart topping album or single, nor have either won any major awards (also, whether they have “substance” in their lyrics is debatable). 4) Whether Mac Miller has “substance” in his lyrics is also debatable. 5) While the Beastie Boys are OG’s and have great success, they are no longer making music and are not apart of the conversation of rap music in this era.

I’ll concede to Macklemore… but that’s about it. So Eminem and Macklemore…

      • Mark111 December 17, 2017

Logic is mix and Mike Shinoda is Asian. So you can take a seat.

    • Justincredible December 17, 2017

That’s been Nicki message her whole career as well, partying on star ships bumpin’ Super Bass and saying these b****** is my sons every track. Very Spring breakish ??‍♀️What’s your point?

  18. DOSSOME December 17, 2017

We know better than to take Onika seriously…

  19. Marcel December 17, 2017

Something clearly happened regarding her or her disgusting brother so I guess this is just to divert the attention

  20. Your Name December 17, 2017

But how many of them are topping the Hot 100? Just Post Malone? That’s what I thought. Migos, Kendrick, Rae Shremmerd, DJ Khaled, Cardi B are just a few Hip Hop persons of color who topped the Billboard charts this year. Nicki only has something to say when it affects her and that’s why I can never take her seriously. Stick to twerking and telling b****** to be your sons….

  21. Latina chick December 17, 2017

She’s one to talk when she tries to look white in her videos smh

  22. #TeamTinashe Stan (Tinashe’s New Music Comes Out Very Soon!) December 17, 2017

She’s just mad that none of her singles or 100 features didn’t get a top 5.
What is wrong with white rappers dominating the top 10 on the charts??? This is a rarity to see white rappers do this. As long as the genre is flourishing with black rappers and they have been getting top 10’s then there isn’t a problem.
So she is REACHING with this!

If she talked about R&B then I would UNDERSTAND but this, NO!
    HASHTAG: #SheALame 😉

  23. TRUTH SERUM December 17, 2017

I love Niki but she’s suffering from the Jada Pickett syndrome. If you’re going to be woke, walk in it always. There is some truth in what she’s trying to say but If you’re going to speak on such a serious topic, leave the sarcasm out and actually have a thoughtful discussion about it…. what J Cole did! I’m still rooting for you but I’m calling you on your BS!

  24. Sza December 17, 2017

Every time nicki flops she pulls out the race card bih y don’t u support Lil’Kim Remy Ma or any other black female if you’re that bothered by white rappers dominating the charts, instead of calling them nappy headed h0s? Girl bye.

  25. Yonce December 17, 2017

Nicki knows damn well that she doesn’t care about the black community so she can sit down and shut up. When she’s winning again on the charts she’ll have nothing to say. B**** please.

  26. DanYiel Iman December 18, 2017

Did she cry when her wack tracks were all talked about probably not so give it up FAKE BARBIE!! ?

  27. #TheTruth December 18, 2017

    She’s a drama queen.

First of all, music shouldn’t be about ethnicity.
And if those songs are charting well, it’s because millions of people buy/stream it. Same people who might be buying her music as well. So stop with the stabs.

Is she mad because her name isn’t up there ?
Clearly she wasn’t referring to Eminem… they even collaborated together.

Is she gonna shade black people doing EDM, latin songs or country ?
Is she gonna shade white people doing gospel or soul music ?

It’s like she’s screaming appropriation because of their skin color.
Hip Hop has been consistent at the top of the charts since forever, with countless black artists… so what is she trying to prove ? It falls flat like her ass used to be before all that messy surgery.

  28. jen December 18, 2017

Dumb girl whats the problem! why make it a race issue! if you look at HOT 100 mad Black rappers on there! GIRL Just make a HIT stop making Drama for Attention!

  29. Caleb December 19, 2017

Maybe if she’d put an album out every once in awhile…
