Rihanna Salutes Lil Kim: “She Has Pushed Limits Like No Other Black Artist”

Published: Sunday 3rd Dec 2017 by Sam

Lil Kim has trail-blazed over the course of her illustrious career and is now receiving her dues from some of today’s top stars. Rihanna being the latest.

Fresh from Beyonce’s Halloween honoring of music’s first Queen Bee, RiRi is verbalising her own salute of Notorious K.I.M.

Speaking in the latest issue of Vogue Paris, the 29-year-old had the following to say about the pioneering femcee…

Citing the rapper as one of her biggest influences, she said:

“Powerful, creative, without any taboos, Lil Kim has pushed the limits like no other black artist. Her world is coloful, fun, pop, rich and coded. She has fun. I am happy to see a phenomenon like in my life.”

Kudos to Rih for showing respect for the inspiration from which her style and swag is drawn from. It’s something so few of this era’s stars feel the need to do; thus the spats and fallouts we continually see.

    Rih respects legends!

    • Tay December 3, 2017

“like no others” is a bit of an over statement!
MJ was the one who opened the door for black artists to reach mainstream.

I agree with Rihanna, big UPS to
    Lil K.I.M.

  3. KodakRedd! December 3, 2017

Kudos to Riri or giving Props where they are due. Unlike that RAP CHICK who has copied everything she has done and still won’t give her her just due!..How you come for somebody that you idolize and got your whole existence from??

    • Ash December 3, 2017

I have a sincere question. When Nicki first came out didn’t she praise lil Kim for being an icon and being one of her biggest inspirations? If I’m wrong let me know cause I remember hearing interviews of her talking about her. That’s why I’m always so confused about the origin of this feud.

      • Notyou December 3, 2017

@Ash exactly! Numerous interviews. They just want Nicki to kiss Kims ass every second of the day. & lets be honest Rihanna’s biggest influence WASN’T KIM! ? it was Bey! ?

      • Foxx December 3, 2017

She did do those interviews. But there were others where she avoided Kim, then she started dissing her in features.

      • Fresh navi December 3, 2017

Ya’ll are ignorant i was a minaj STAN during beem me up scotty. Nicki praised kim only to sneak diss her on tracks and be shady behind the scenes. Nicki is a fake b****, and thats the end of it.

      • Notyou December 3, 2017

@freshnavi ? you’re writing as if you know these chicks personally and was there behind the scenes, hypocrite. You’re just as ignorant as everyone else. Kim isn’t even Kim anymore, she’s the poster child for self hate. And tbh Rih is only praising Kim to spite Nicki. Rih has been in the game for how many years? And she’s NEVER mentioned Kim as being an influence but now that Rih and Nicki are no longer following each other she wants to praise kim ?

      • Justincredible December 3, 2017

@NotYou Wrong! Lil Kim the poster child of female rap unity, high fashion, longevity, legendary rap records that cross generations and motherhood. Be mad your child m******* supporting fave ain’t say sh!t on wax 8 whole years. Had to swaggerjack and make “these b****** is my sons!” the narrative of her career, throwing shade at other females all insecure. That is NOT the essence of hip hop that mobilizes females in the genre, boo! She’s cancer. Karma is having a field day with Nicki and I’m here for it! ??

      • Notyou December 3, 2017

@justincredible is that you Kim??? ?? longevity? female rap unity? You’re deluded. Kim is the poster child for transracial folk. She turned herself into a whole Asian woman ?. But I can see why you’re mad though, Nicki is far more successful, worth much more and has the respect & fan base that Kim always wanted. But don’t get me wrong Kim is a legend in her on right, I used to be a HUGE fan. I just wish she would’ve loved herself enough not to butcher her own face ?.. I mean, she looks crazy now! She was once gorgeous! ?

      • LIL’ KIM BIRTHED YO FAVES December 4, 2017

HOnika has been dissing Lil’ Kim since 2003. Do your research. A few interviews where she gives Kim props and disses her in the next breath does not erase the fact that HOnika has been dissing Kim in practically every single rap she spat for nearly a decade before Kim responded with Black Friday.

GO AND WATCH PLAYTIME IS OVER ON YOUTUBE. STOP BEING DUMB.

Everybody with a brain knows Lil Kim created this female rapper phase! Her name is up with big and 2pac!! Brooklyn stand up!

    • Caleb December 3, 2017

Nah it was Salt-n-Pepa who created it.

      • FentyBeauty December 4, 2017

And not one single female rapper call them there influence

  5. MClamb4life December 3, 2017

Nicki is crying in her grave. She took so many Ls this year she’s is washed

    • Notyou December 3, 2017

If she was really washed than you wouldn’t feel the need to bring her up. Last time i checked she still has multiple hits on BB rn.. where’s kim?

      • Justincredible December 3, 2017

Kim has b****** sampling her TIMELESS rap records for the culture with Wake Me Up. Nicki Molestaj can’t relate. Y’all better hope that sh!t don’t chart on Hot 100 cuz if it does, Kim will join Missy Elliott as the only female rappers with 3 decades (90s, 00s,10s) of billboard hits. #RealQueenofRap ??

  6. S****** Blonde December 3, 2017

Yeah right, Prince’s androgynous image alone>______ I mean, the man was black, and we all know how homophobic the black community can be, that alone makes him the boldest black artist ever, what has Lil Kim done besides taking a picture with her legs spread while wearing a horrible bikini?…..Unless Riri is talking about surgery, then, well…

    • Cbeylive December 3, 2017

She said Kim. When they interview you then you can say prince if u want.

    • Cough Cough December 3, 2017

You have no idea because, like everything else… you’re f****** clueless. Stop trying to understand black anything, you stay over in Switzerland honey pretending to be whatever it is you’re pretending to be…… you cannot , will not and should not relate- obviously. BYE white girl

    • We are the grandchildren of the slaves you couldn’t kill – tyler December 3, 2017

“We all know how homophobic the black community can be.”

^^Looks like some folks still haven’t mastered staying in there own lane yet. Commenting on the black community when they aren’t even black…interesting^^

    • Caleb December 3, 2017

Cut it with this “we all know” when you don’t know jackshit about anything. Tired of hearing how whites are just so not homophobic and accepting of all sexualities when it’s just not true. Ask Matthew Shepherd how accepting and nonhomophobic whites are when they crucified him and nailed him to a fence!

      • Tim Brown December 4, 2017
