Tinashe Teases Long-Awaited Comeback

Published: Wednesday 27th Dec 2017 by Sam

The journey to Tinashe‘s sophomore album has been anything but a ‘Joyride.’

Indeed, its title has proven quite ironic given the amount of speed-bumps and stop-signs its encountered since starting its commute in 2015.

Release dates have come and gone, as has a succession of “lead” singles. And yet…nothing.

That may be set to change imminently, though.

Find out why below…

Hitting Instagram, the 24-year-old shared a snap of herself in the studio with the caption: “…almost time”

It sure needs to be (almost time) because folk are renown for losing interest quick in the midst of new artists debuting almost daily.

Behind the scenes politics aside, we just hope ‘Nashe has bolted down a sound that is fresh, consistent, and unique enough to gift her a lane of her own. Because while fans can bemoan promotion (or the lackthere-of), the reality is she didn’t help her cause constantly changing her U.S.P.

Like, was intended to be the edgy girl (see: ‘Party Favors’ and ‘Nightride’) or the new Pop-Urban princess (see: ‘Super Love’ and ‘Flame’)? We’re not sure anyone (including her) actually knew.

Still, she now has a fresh slate to paint her artistic proposition anew. We patiently await to see what she’s come up with.

Your thoughts?

I honestly dont see it. There shouldnt be a need or reason for such a new artist to have a “comeback”. Maybe she will catch on but i dont see the appeal.

    • @Nate December 27, 2017

A comeback for a new artist? Loloololol Has she ever actually released an official first album yet? Just mixtapes right? Death! Such an ALternative Fact!

      • Julian December 28, 2017

If you must know, her “official” debut album “Aquarius” came out in 2014 and it was easily one of the best records of that year. She has released a mixtape (“Nightride”), an EP (“Amethyst”) and several one-off singles since then, all to critical acclaim. So you can hate on her all you want but you can’t knock her hustle! ?? Y’all are doing her dirty, she’s actually super talented and I’m always here for what she does.

    :sips truth tea:

Player ft. Chris Brown was actually a good song and originally intended for Janet Jackson, it was simply mixed too slow for pop radio and management should be shot for letting that track be D.O.A. Ciara and Rita Ora would have performed that track multiple times live. Waste of a good single.

Her YouTube channel is close to earning 1million subscribers, same as her twitter account and she has been remaining BOOKED for major gigs and headlines.
All of those things show that she has the general public’s attention on her but YES to agree with Sam that I feel for a sophomore album you can’t just go from the girl with the dark/edgy sound that helped develop her fanbase to immediately going to Pop on the second album. It’s like if Bryson Tiller did that by going EDM/Pop on us then his sophomore album (although not good but tolerable) would have FLOPPED.
I’m here for Tinashe because within everything in my opinion she is the most SOLID performer that we’ve seen from a new artist in years.

    • pon_De December 27, 2017

Not to be messy but what are these major gigs and headlines you see her booking? I have looked far and near and cannot locate her. I see Waldo, but where is Tinashe?

      • #TeamTinashe Stan (Tinashe’s New Music Comes Out Very Soon!) December 27, 2017

WrestleMania, Hot 97 SummerJam Main stage (Canceled), Empire (TV Show), iHeart Festival (Main Stage), Endorsement Deals with Mac Cosmetics and juicy Couture’s Comeback, Grammys Red Carpet Host/Interviewer and etc.

Continue shading tho booboo 😉 xoxo

Aquarius is a good album. I still listen to it. Side note: is that the studio or her bedroom? I would respect her a lot more if that is her bedroom. I know she produces as well.

    • Julian December 28, 2017

She said in interviews several times that most of her music was/is recorded in her bedroom, so it’s not unlikely!

  8. DC3 FOREVER December 27, 2017

    Comeback? When did she arrive?

    • MessyBoots December 27, 2017

      ???

  9. Bad_B December 27, 2017

Lmao she’s been ‘bubbling under’ on ThatGrapeJuice for a while now.

  10. The Wig Snatcher December 27, 2017

RCA has done her (and every Black artist for the past 10 years) wrong. They have much more potential with her than Justina Timberfake.

  11. LOCHI December 27, 2017

What cracks me up is that the only thing they can come for her is lack of sales. They can’t say she’s not talented or can’t perform her ass off, because then they are delusional af. Also would be delusional af if they ignore the fact that when it comes to r&b/pop entertainers there’s favoritism at play. So it’s very bias. Yet through all that Tinashe managed to get over 4+ multi platinum and gold singles. Not just in the US but overseas as well. Also she stays booked performing shows, and they’re not local cafeteria shows that some of these lames trying say. It’s big shows, and festivals. Some she did open and now she’s headlining. If people weren’t here for her they wouldn’t buy a ticket or even be there while she is performing. So this so called “shade” they try to throw lacks impact. It’s funny tho to see them reach.

She should shut her mouth up and say hi when everything is ready. How many announcement we had before? Finish your work Girl and then we’ll see.

  15. Fifi December 27, 2017

It’s not a comeback if you were never popping off to begin with.. y’all be doing the most on this site.. I don’t know her.

  16. Rihboy December 27, 2017

I love company. But it’s somethimg about her that just ain’t quite memorable. She is drowning in a sea of other artist just like her. In order for her to go massively mainstream she has to have the right material and push. Aquaris could have been it had she pushed the album more. I think they are trying to sell her by her look and that’s falling flat. She hasn’t had a solid single that wowed the masses yet. I honestly feel like she will be taking a backseat for a while. Rita ora as well. But I guess the hierarchy wouldn’t be right if everyone was at the top.

  17. Tim Brown December 28, 2017

    Her vocals are odd….??‍♀️
