Watch: Jennifer Hudson Wows ‘The Voice’ With First Performance Of ‘Burden Down’

Published: Wednesday 13th Dec 2017 by Sam

Jennifer Hudson is wasting no time blazing the promotional trail for new song ‘Burden Down.’

Unwrapped today, the songbird delivered its first live performance on ‘The Voice.’

JHUD seized the moment to recreate the track’s video on-stage – including “that” jaw-dropping acapella at the end.

Watch her wow after the jump…

The Grammy and Oscar winner certainly picked the right platform for the performance because her voice truly shone!

Echoing earlier sentiments, this skews more statement than single (given all she’s going through publicly with her split). And what a statement it is. Amazing performance.

She sounds good but her ballads won’t keep her upgraded…

Great vocal technique. Great vocal control. However, the music is very lackluster for such a grand voice. Her sound needs instrumentation, blues, jazz, fun and more.

I love Jennifer Hudson but I don’t know about this song. She need to align herself with some great songwriters and producers to put that heavy voice to use so it can soar on the charts

that’s always been my issue with her. she has a great voice, but the materials are often lacking…

Mariah should write a song for her…hell how about Walter A?

I’m tired of people saying she only screams. That is not the case. Any vocally talented person or vocal coach can point out how much control she has on her voice and not everyone can get as loud as she does while holding a note.

Love JHud. No disrespect of her talent or this performance, but I believe it was lip synced. I watched it lived and I sure it was…at least the part where she is seated at the piano. Nevertheless, this song is growing on me.

Excellent vocals. The song just seems incomplete. Maybe they can revamp it for an alternate version and not have such a long a cappella in the end.
