Behind the Scenes: Katy Perry’s ‘Hey Hey Hey’ Music Video [Watch]

Published: Tuesday 16th Jan 2018 by Rashad

While the smoke and mirrors of “brand Katy Perry” seem in tact (see:  new Covergirl commercial, ‘American Idol’ gig, and more), the reality is…it’s not.

Her latest album, ‘Witness,’ has not only garnered her lowest sales to date, but also seen the songstress deliver the most consecutive non-top 40 charting singles of her career.  Though its lead single, ‘Chained to the Rhythm’ (peak #4), appeared promising initially, its follow-ups – ‘Bon Appetit’ (#59 peak) & ‘Swish Swish’ (#46 peak) – spelled of everything but promise.  The album’s succeeding Sia-penned release, ‘Hey Hey Hey’ (released last month), has yet to crack the Hot 100 despite a big budget video in its support.

Undoubtedly hoping to awaken interest in the tune and boost video streams, Perry took to her official VEVO to show off the behind the scenes action and making of the video.  See it inside:

The visual made its way to the net just a week after Perry’s label boss, Capitol Records’ Steve Barnett, has said he’s been in “tough talks” with the singer and her management regarding the nonperformance of her latest album.  However, if Barnett is to be believed, fans shouldn’t worry as she’s already begun plotting her musical comeback.

“She has a plan, and we have a plan, and I feel good about it,” the record exec shared.  [source]

She is not worth $25 mil on IDOL. She’s not a talented singer. She’s a good performance artist but that’s it. Good pop songs but those vocals are crap

Being a judge on Idol isn’t just for “singing” abilities. It’s the overall package. If that was the case, The Voice should have multi-platinum selling artists as we speak. Katy has the package, and yes, she CAN sing. And guess what? She IS worth $25 million. A hell of a lot worth more than your stanky as!

Dear Useless Non-Spelling Gay Carlitos. GO F Yourself h**. She has zero talent other than having personality. STOP DYCK-RIDING and go get a life.

She flopped or underperformed yet she has the one of the FEW best selling albums of last year (25th) so…she not over but she damn sure isn’t hot either. That’s mostly due to bad promotion, bad songs & bad Live performances.

You can blame a lot of things but don’t blame promo. Girls was EVERYWHERE, with top level spots like SNL.

WTH is going on with this era for her?
She’s a big pop star that should always be seen at the top of the charts.
Did she say something bad about black people or something? Still dont feel that would’ve been enough to keep her away from the charts.

It never topped the charts because she only released a video for it; is not a single and was not released to radio. I really hope she makes Roulette a single. That’s a banger.

I was waiting for one of u to argue this. Hun, singles do not have to be “released” these Days to chart. Hey hey hey has an audio and separate video page on her vevo. Plus with iTunes and streaming there is no reason for this not to have charted other than being a flop…plain and simple

Carlitos maybe your should practice RELEASING a personality because at 56 years old being a “stan” of a washed up diva

According to Billboard.com the album went gold selling 500,000 copies last year and worldwide sales of 840,000 copies sold she didn’t flopped that bad compared to what some other artist have sold in 2017. In comparison to her past sales figures with previous albums this is unusual for her but in today’s music climate she didn’t flop as hard as what some have stated.
