Little Monsters were disappointed earlier this week when Cardi B squashed circulating rumors that indicated she was in the lab with Lady Gaga working on new music. Taking to Twitter, the ‘Bodak Yellow’ beauty shared:

It’s been over 5 years since Christina Aguilera released an studio album (and 8 years since a properly promoted project), a timeline that’s certainly not slipped past fans of the vocal powerhouse. Yet, with every promise of being hard at work on new material and posted photos of studio sessions her faithful followers are reassured that “it’s coming.”
That hope was given wings when Aguilera followed Cardi B on Instagram shortly after the rapper made the post below. It should be noted the ‘Dirrty’ singer is not quick to follow anyone on the social media outlet as her current count stands at 27.
On Twitter, Cardi also shared the following:
Fans were quick to note the rapper said “verse” and not “song,” which suggests whatever she recorded was indeed a feature.

Grasping at straws? Maybe. But, from where we stand, this rumored collabo, a confirmed duet with P!nk, and any other excitement that can be drummed up about Xtina’s forthcoming project is welcomed. After a 5 year wait, she can only expect so much patience from even her staunchest supporters.

I’m hoping by the end of January we’ll hear something when Christina’s Lip Sync Battle Tribute airs.
If not, then… idk…
But all I can say is that this album better come correct and better be over 25 tracks with no fillers. The girl has had ample time to create something of damn near perfection.
And that Spanish album better follow after too.

I don’t see how people thought Cardi and Gaga would collab. I mean, I guess it could happen but Gaga’s music doesn’t really work with rap. Kanye and Azealia are the only ones that could mesh well with her. Honestly the only pop girl I could imagine working well with Cardi is Rihanna. I imagine they would have great chemistry the same way Nicki and Bey did.
