Remy Ma Maps Out May Release For New Album / Hints At No Longer Being Managed By Vince Herbert?

Published: Saturday 20th Jan 2018 by Sam

Remy Ma is strutting the promo trail for new single ‘Melanin Magic (ft. Chris Brown).’ And said trail brought her to Hot 97‘s Ebro In The Morning.

There the femcee opened up about the track and its housing album ‘Seven Winters & Six Summers’ – including when fans can expect the set.

Details below…

Chopping it up with Ebro, Peter Rosenberg, and Laura Stylez, Remy revealed that the LP is currently earmarked for a May release.

She interestingly also seemed to hint that she has dissolved her relationship with new manager Vince Herbert. For, at the 16.53 mark she alludes to not actually having a manager – owing this to her routine practice of hiring folk if she believes in their vision but firing them swiftly if they can’t deliver on it.

Wise move to set the record up this way.

Sure, she has a lot of good will working in her favor. But she ultimately needs to the build her buzz to optimum volume before dropping a whole body of work. It’ll be no easy feat, but the long haul approach certainly gives her the scope to figure it out.

And beyond the obvious promotional opportunities situated around said time (BET Awards etc), she’ll also benefit from the busy window of female rap releases set for the coming months (Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, and even Iggy Azalea).

Because while there’ll undoubtedly be a competitive slant, there’s also the reality that any success by one act arguably creates the right climate for others to benefit from (see: radio, streaming, and the like).

As for the management situation with Vince, we’d be fibbing if we said we weren’t wondering how his artists felt about the mess he and Tamar were airing publicly at Christmastime. It’s anyone’s guess what’s actually going on, but it wouldn’t be surprising if she bounced because of it. Just saying.

In any case, listen to Remy’s new single ‘Melanin Magic’ below…

      Very true

    • Cough Cough January 20, 2018

How is she trying to look like Lil Kim? Cause if you’re saying she’s trying to look like Nicki, and Nicki is lil Kim’s mini then… kim n remy r cool

      • Electrikblue January 20, 2018

Stfu with that Nicki Lil Kim s***…y’all been saying that for 9yrs. And yet Kim still ain’t at Nicki’s level. She dropped a single it didn’t even reach the hot 100 but it’s the original formula Nicki stole right? Right?! Cause Nicki put on a colorful wig and did a pose in a photo to tribute Lil Kim she stole moms style…that s*** is so tired now. Go give Kim some spins so you can help her be relevant then.

At least Chris Brown sound good. Nothing wrong with old school rap, but I don’t want to hear it out of Remy Ma’s mouth. Not a fan. No one can hold a candle to Lil’ Kim. She had style.

there’s honestly no room in this music climate for a full body of work to succeed with Remy’s name on it. sad, but true. neither of these lead singles have been up to par.

  5. Gee January 20, 2018

I appreciate that Remy sticks to her flow because that is what makes Remy herself. This song will definitely get major urban AirPlay because it has everyone’s favorite male R&B artist of the last decade CBreezy and he was the perfect choice for the song because he brings it to life.

I LOOOVE how yall stay optomistic about this FLOP yet Nicki Minaj has proven herself Time and time again and yall still find a way to discredit and shade her every move as if she is beneath or actually even in the same sentence as a CARDI IGGY OR REMY YALL REALLY MAKE YALL BLOG LOOK SOO IRRELEVANT TO THE “CULTURE” because of it

    • Markjones January 20, 2018

Well, the problem is Nicki fans Don’t want Lil Kim fans to bring up the fact that Nicki straight jacked Kim style then turn around and say cardi B or anyone else is stealing from Nicki. That’s not how the world works.

I want Remy to win, but I don’t see it for her.

I agree. She needs to do more, like how she sounds on Plies remix. I f#@ks with Remy but at this point, 3 flopped singles, I just dont see it. 4 years released and no album. By the time she drops it, no one will care. Also, the singles she has released, which are supposed to be on her album, have nothing to do, as far as I can tell, with being locked up for 6Winters7Summers…..

Love Chris brown part remy not so much they also talk about nicki having futures for success she the one can’t stand her own she doesn’t look right s*** just she’s trying to hard these new rappers chicks going to eat her alive even though I don’t like all the music they make just by the looks she a doormat compared to what some of them look like

  10. Bighomie January 20, 2018

I tried to get into Remy like years ago but unfortunately Nikki and Cardi and will squeeze Iggy in there just has the look and as everyone agrees it’s that voice u can only go for so long then next. But she has came up on her coins so I guess she should be happy.

    This song is life…..

Remy is the best female rapper out when it comes to bars, and metaphors. She makes great songs classics. The real rap queen on all levels.

  17. tru.tea.ldn January 21, 2018

    Cardi B (Hitmaker & millionaire)
Kash Doll (already a millionaire from live shows)
Malibu mitch (signed to atlantic dec 2017)
    Steff London
    Asian Doll
    Cuban Doll
    Dream Doll

Remys time passed her by when she was in Jail her style of rap is now outdated & the public want fresher more youthful acts. This has 0 to do with her age but more to do with her rapping style & overall brand. We dont mind female rappers married with Kids. For instance if Cardi B had a baby with offset next year it wouldn’t affect her coz her music is young & popping …..Remy isn’t thinking about consumption..Rap takes off in the strip clubs not radio. This song is old n dull & i cannot hear it playing in any strip club…unfortunately her music isn’t good enough thats all that counts nothing to do with her shame tho
