Published: Saturday 27th Jan 2018 by Sam

Jessie J is taking China by storm!

As reported, the vocal wonder is competing on a celebrity show in the region and while we still don’t know what the ultimate prize is, we do know that’s she’s slaying.

Last week saw the British belter go viral with an incredible rendition of Whitney Houston’s ‘I Have Nothing.’ And to follow-up, she dusted off another classic sing-a-long-song. She performed the Fugees version of Roberta Flack’s ‘Killing Me Softly.’

How did she do? Watch below to find out…

Another slay!

Jessie’s voice is the gift that keeps giving. Consistently.

We say bring on that new album (‘R.O.S.E’) already!

She has really been doing her thing lately. I like that she is not overdoing it like she normally does. I like that she has more control. Get it Jessie!!!

Somebody must had told her about giving more vocal restraint and control – it’s a good look!! ?

    she was ok

Being a contestant on a Chinese TV show lmao
    Her flopping is effortless… effortless.

    • Haters Gon’ Hate January 27, 2018

But the real point is – she stays booking a stage – and killing it while she’s on it so – your shade is null and void. ??‍♂️

      • Davii January 27, 2018

What stage was booked bb cause last time I checked she’s a CONTESTANT on a f****** Chinese TV SHOW lmao.

She’s not some unknown member of the public who wants to be a singer – she’s in the middle of setting up her album promo – they BOOKED her to be on this programme (BOOKED meaning she could Decline) performing on this booked stage is promo for her album rollout.

Just shows your ignorance. The show is for professional singers. Most of the contestants are already successful recording artists in Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan. The fact that she has been voted number 1 every week, despite singing in English and not knowing Mandarin should be commended.

CHILLS – I just got my life, what kind of VOCAL SLAYAGE IS THIS?? Her talent will always find a way to be heard – it will not be denied.

Here’s the thing tho. As much as I love her – the album will not be a commercial slay – the musical landscape just isn’t here for vocals at the moment. It’s a tricky one. I hope she finds a way to stay signed until we come full circle and vocals are back in – or – she finds some way to stay current and visible so people who appreciate talent can continue to enjoy her gifts.

She slayed this is the Jessie I remembered when the music industry went crazy bout her before she got big these are vocals I need more.

FYI there’s no prize. You just get bragging rights. Maybe some milk from the sponsor (who sells milk)…

  7. DNCE January 27, 2018

She keeps slaying. Her covers are amazing…Grease (Is The Word), When You Wish Upon A Star, You Mean The World To Me, I Have Nothing and now this. Can’t decide what’s better. She should do every tribute!

At this point Jessie should scrap Q.u.e.e.n and get writing with Babyface, L.A Reid and some of the legends to give us the album that her voice deserves. At this point chasing pop hits is pointless so just make a classic album

Why is she doing this show?

  10. mr.m January 28, 2018

So she’s a cover singer now?
    LOL what a mess

    • Haters Gon’ Hate January 28, 2018

The REAL mess is that no one knows who YOU are – or cares – so the fact that she’s internationally known – and talented, but you hate on her because you are broke down and have nothing going on in your life. Bloop. ??‍♂️

To clear things up, the producer spend tonnes of money to invite her to the show to make show more ‘international’. The show is for professional singers/established artists, with one or two newcomers put in to attract more views. The singers are only allowed to sing one of their own song, then covers other songs preferably with their own arrangement. They dont win anything but exposure, so its a good platform for has-been performers to remind the public ‘hey i’m still alive and killing ass’. For Jessie J is a good place for her to expose to asia market.
