In an announcement made today, it’s been revealed that the Pop force will be presented with the GLAAD Vanguard Award at the 29th annual GLAAD Media Awards on April 12th.

The honor is reserved for media professionals who’ve made a sizeable impact in promoting equality and acceptance of LGBTQ people.

Citing Spears as consistent advocate for the rainbow community (including online calls to end bullying), President of GLAAD Sarah Kate Ellis said in a statement:

“An irrefutable icon, Britney Spears has entertained the world while also embodying the spirit of GLAAD’s Vanguard Award by speaking out on significant issues that face her fans – from the Dream Act to anti-transgender bills in Texas. She is a force in the music world who has used her global platform to share messages of love and acceptance, something that the world needs today more than ever.”

36-year-old Britney, who will be on hand for the ceremony, joins the likes of Janet Jackson and Jennifer Lopez on the list of Vanguard recipients.

Congrats!

When was the last time Brit championed for anything LGBTQ related? Xtina deserves it more than her! Xtina promoted equality when it wasn’t acceptable to see on tv. Beautiful has become the #1 song for LGBTQ equality. Xtina has released a string of LGBTQ charity singles. Xtina constantly champions for LGBTQ. But yet lets just give it to Britney because she broke her knee years ago and never came back from it so lets reward her to make her knee feel better!

I’m sure many of Britney’s long time dancers and make artists are gay. Besides this is really not about Britney. They need somebody to award every year to raise money so the more popular the celeb getting awarded is the more money that organization gets. Christina Aguilera will surely get an award once her team gets on the comeback campaign and releases new music.

Just because she doesn’t broadcast what she does for the community like the others, doesn’t mean she’s not active, last year she stop a gay t*** from s****** by writing him & she also made a video for one of her gay fans about how much she love him & appreciate the support

Madonna, Janet, Kylie, Gaga, X-tina, and P!nk yes. But Britney? She hasn’t done shi% to be an advocate for the LGBT community besides taking money. The most overrated female pop star of all time
