After signing with Roc Nation management, Mimi is hard at work on her first studio album since 2014’s ‘Me. I Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse.’
To whet appetites, she shared a shot of herself in the studio recording new material. Check it out above.
No release date accompanies the as yet untitled project, but we’re just glad to see her cooking up fresh material.
Indeed, like many, we were concerned last year when (under the stewardship of her prior management) she said she would be veering away from albums and embracing singles.
Mariah is at a stage of her career when selling albums should be her main priori. As such, it’s awesome to see her honing in on that.
I wish she gets back to her introspective songs that have nothing to do with a guest rapper appearance…see, the problem is the modern rappers have no je ne sais quoi ?? lol

The album is up there with her best work at least according to the lambily and the critics. They called it her best album since #Daydream even though butterfly, charmbracelet, TEOM exist. #YouDontKnowWhatToDo is one of her bey uptempo, #Faded is one of her greatest songs. #MakeItLookGood was named as one of the top 10 greatest songs of the year by time magazine. #Beautiful was Named the song of the summer by billboard. And the album contained some of Mariahs most personal lyrics. I didn’t mean to respond to myself it was a accident. You ain’t no real fan daahling. Every lamb knows the greatness of #MIAM expect if u over 45 ?

My problem with that album was the label’s lack of promotion. Her song feat. Wale should have been made a single.
Even though I don’t stan her, this woman is a legend to the game and I will support her.
She is truly up there with the other legends.
Mariah needs to work with Walter Afanasieff again and kick Jermaine Dupri to the curb. We want more “Anytime You Need a Friend,” “Hero,” “Whenever You Call,” and “Butterfly” tracks.

Rumors are he used to spy on Mariah and go back to Mottola the devil with all the tea on her personal life and business after the divorce. Also that he got paid for the information. We the fans love loyal people like #JD

Mariah is not doing that sound anymore. Time to get over it. Hell, nobody is doing it. Why should she among all the people when she is very vocal about her preferences more than any artist from that era? What i wish is that she could try some NEW things, kind of what she did with #beuatiful. And it worked.
“Hell, nobody is doing it”…and this is why we have less-than-basic singers and sub par entertainers topping the chart today. Songs with no melody and hollow words. The songs Mariah wrote with Walter are timeless and meaningful.
Mariah is not doing that sound anymore because she has gotten lazy with her vocals and her song-writing. I will never get over it. She needs to get back to basics. Write songs with powerful messages and beautiful melodies….that is the recipe for success.
You clearly want to see her fail if you’re encouraging her to cook up something like #beautiful again. Perhaps you should get over it.
#beautiful was something in the right direction for what she can do now being REALISTIC. Something you clearly are not. That past music being timeless doesn´t mean she has to produce songs like that anymore because music has its eras. i agree, teh stuff now is mediocre at best most of the times and that standards are at an all time low. What I meant is that she could let things like “I don´t” go and go for some new innovative but also commercial and praised by critics type of sounds. She is not going to have success singing songs like Hero again, nobody is. Celine Dion either. Music evolves, and she could do great things. However, her voice is not there like that, so she has to be innovative, not just write those timeless huge ballads. Do u understand? I want the ebst for her career.
I don´t agree she has got lazy with her songwriting btw. Not at all. Vocals are a different story, but what do we know? Maybe she does all she can.
Being realistic, the most she can do is trying to release #beautiful type of songs. In the sense of “new” sounds that people seem to like. Not the typical “I don´t” type of stuff she has done a trillion times.

I sure am dahhling! I just had a new security system installed in case Jenny even dares to sneak her way into my studio again dahhling!
Now I really believe she is working in an album because she has been not touring for the last couple of months for the first time in years lol I wish she could rest more. She and Celine cannot stop working and I´m sure some rest for several months would do them so much good.
She just needs to get to a realistic and creative place. I need an album with better lyrical content than the last few and i also need her to release with the singing ability she has now and not a cut and join job.
I love Mariah but imma need more than a s*** outfit and a personality, i need a album that i can listen to in full…. again.
I am excited for her, but this picture is concerning. EVERY SINGLE TIME Mariah dresses up for the studio, the album will be mediocre. This is just the facts. I think the s*** outfits and makeup restrict her singing capacity, which is unfortunate for a “vocalist” to restrict her ability, and not to mention the alcohol intake that is likely going on in the studio when she dresses s***.
People may not believe me, but look up her YouTube video of her recording “Lead the Way,” which is one of her greatest vocal songs … and she is wearing comfy pajamas. EVERY time Mariah is wearing comfy clothes in the studio, its been one of her vocal masterpieces.
So again, this picture concerns me. Although it’s only ONE picture, and she may be producing and not actually singing … so we shall see! I’m still excited though 🙂
