Report: Justin Timberlake Prepares Prince Hologram For Super Bowl Halftime Show

Published: Saturday 3rd Feb 2018 by Sam

If Justin Timberlake headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show was problematic for some, it’s about to irk a whole lot more. Because, according to a new report, JT will be featuring Prince in his presentation tomorrow.

Full story below…

With this year’s Super Bowl taking place in the late legend’s hometown of Minneapolis, 37-year-old Timberlake is said to be planning a high-tech salute – in the form of a hologram.

The tea was poured today by TMZ, who also revealed the following:

  • There is no planned Janet Jackson or NYSNC reunion.
  • JT did 4 run-throughs  on Thursday. One being a taped a dress rehearsal that’ll air in the event of an emergency that renders him unable to perform. Or perhaps to cut to if anything goes “wrong.”
  • There’ll be a lot of fireworks. Case in point this video from rehearsal:

As for the Prince “thing,” all of a sudden the album launch party at Paisley Park is starting to make more sense. Though it’s unlikely to ease concerns about the partnerships Prince’s Estate are making.

After all, as reported, fans of Purple one have been vocal in stressing the problematic nature of Prince and Justin’s history.

Indeed, while the ‘Man Of The Woods’ singer has been uber endorsing of the legend – especially after his death in 2016 – they have in fact traded subtle jabs at one another.

For, when questioned about JT’s single ‘SexyBack’ and its implied suggestion that it was reviving something, Prince (in trademark form) clapped back with the following in an interview:

“For whoever is claiming that they are bringing sexy back, sexy never left!”

The comment clearly found its way to Timberlake, who sung the following lines (believed to be in reference to both Prince and Janet) on Timbaland + Nelly Furtado collaboration ‘Give It To Me’ later that same year. Note that Janet had just done an interview with Oprah addressing the issue while promoting her then-new album:

“I saw you tryin’ to act cute on TV, ‘Just let me clear the air’/ We missed you on the charts last week/ Damn, that’s right, you wasn’t there/ Now if sexy never left, then why is everybody on my sh–?/ Don’t hate on me just because you didn’t come up with it.”

At this point, it’s clear Justin is here for the mess with this incessant crutching on legends. Will he be able to handle the inevitable backlash once it actually hits, though?

I couldn’t get though his album. Anybody else?

    • Sandra February 3, 2018

It’s so awful. I could only listen to The Alicia Keys duet and I found that funny as neither has made good music or given us good vocals in a minute

      • BeyKnowlesBest February 4, 2018

Ak… last album was pretty respectable tho

    • Olusheyi February 3, 2018

I didn’t even bother to listen.

If he does bring Princes hollogram out, he’s about to get strug up like white jesus! Dont do it Justin! Just be happy with your two-step.

  3. truthteller February 3, 2018

Justin clearly has no shame. His solo career has more or less consisted of him appropriating from others

I love Prince more than anyone, but he shouldn’t have come for him first, the shade was uncalled for, legends feel entitled, then we criticize when the newbies shade legends back, he has always cited Prince as one of his biggest influences, I think he wants to tribute Prince in his hometown but that’s not a good idea, even if it comes from the heart, especially now that he’s the new “Target”, I can already hear the lashings ? my poor boy ?

    • Caleb February 3, 2018

Is it shade for Prince to state that Timberlake didn’t bring s*** back because s*** never left? No, it’s just the truth.

    • Saintimonious February 4, 2018

Don’t you get tired of playing the resident “attorney for the next random white act”? He built his whole solo career off of Michael and Prince so to come for him in a song just shows how much a piece of scum and opportunist he is, regardless of whether Prince threw a little shade. Justin should have known his place.

Prince’s estate should be ashamed of themselves. Prince would never have endorsed this corny ass Timberfake.

    • Slicc Loskii February 3, 2018

      yessss. lol Yuckstin Timberfake!

  6. Olusheyi February 3, 2018

Forget Justin TimbrrFAKE. This will be the first Superbowl halftime show that I will gladly not watch

  7. Jacob February 3, 2018

Remember when Prince shaded Janet Jackson, and then janet jackson had o words of sympathy as for when Prince passed away….. yikes

    • S****** Blonde February 3, 2018

They were all shady af back then, I remember it was team MJ/Janet vs Prince/Madonna, sort of like the legends panel, lmao, but according to fans MJ/Janet never dissed someone first, they were saints, the rest were just jealous of them, among other things ?

      • SMH February 3, 2018

Because it’s the truth. Prince and Madonna were always the first to throw insecure shade at MJ & Janet, and that’s documented fact. Clearly you’re the delusional one, as are all Madonna stans.

    • Caleb February 3, 2018

I don’t remember this tbh. What did prince say about Janet?

  8. Sandra February 3, 2018

I don’t believe this, I need evidence, a crime scene.
It’s a no ma’am from me and the end of his already ending music career.
Prince as a hologram on stage cannot 1) make people buy your awful album, and 2) make your album less awful.

  9. Mark111 February 3, 2018

He’s a fake and a creap. You dissed the man when he was alive, but as soon as he’s dead, you’re his biggest fan. He did the same mess with MJ. This do is so out of touch, clearly he doesn’t have enough hits in his catalog to do a whole show. Like Prince didn’t even like you and he made it very clear.

  10. Meme February 3, 2018

Here we go again using black talent to make up for his lackings. They know he can’t pull this off without having something big, so sadly they are exploiting Prince.

    • Tim Brown February 3, 2018

      This!!!

  11. nicole February 3, 2018

Can’t wait to see Justin! I have never seen a bad JT performance and this will most likely be among his best. That is why his tour is selling out and he has to add more shows. Prince never had a great tribute IMHO, so why not have one one world’s biggest stage? JT also has the worldwide #1 selling album and his single is heading for Top 5 then #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts in coming weeks! #Truthupdate

  12. Fancy BISH February 3, 2018

Prince looked younger than Justinesha lol ?

  13. Tokyo Vanity fan February 3, 2018

I saw a twitter that Prince did an interview and he called the act of peforming with a hologram of a dead artist “demonic”. Timberfake is an idiot and the people who are running Prince’s estate have no respect for Prince’s legacy or his wishes. They are just money grabbing scum!

    • Tokyo Vanity fan February 3, 2018

      On twitter*

  14. Malik February 3, 2018

Fcuk JT, get a more worthy and better artist to grace the stage with Prince, even it is a hologram! What an insult!!!

    • BeyKnowlesBest February 4, 2018

      I agree

  15. VegasCali February 3, 2018

Timberlake and whoever is in charge of Prince’s estate need to be beat. Relationship aside, Prince has gone on record calling the whole hologram thing demonic and that he didn’t want one done of him.

  16. Kendrick Slaymar February 3, 2018

Prince couldn’t stand Justin Timberlake. Justin shaded Prince also.
He’d better cancel that terrible idea of a show right now

  17. Stephy February 3, 2018

    Leave Prince alone.

  18. Caleb February 3, 2018

Yikes. Is he really stupid enough to go through with this? Prince didn’t f*** with you and now you are trying to act like y’all was cool?!

  19. Saintimonious February 4, 2018

Don’t you get tired of playing the resident “attorney for the next random white act”? Didn’t prince state he doesn’t want to be anyone’s Hologram?!!
